What's unsaid is that serral is afraid of baneling nerf.
We can no longer deny that the balance counsel has caused Zerg to loose their identity. Every other race can out macro Zerg. Banelings, nerfed... Marines, viable all the way to end game.... Zerg needs Tier 3 just to compete. Zerg is no longer a "swarm". This is the beginning of the end, mark my word.

I can't believe you bring up the topic of 'viable all the way to end game', when Terran has only got Marines, while Zerg units are excellent across the roster. On top of that, Zerg has got two OP spellcasters that deal group damage, and can even cast mind control. Zerg has got EVERYTHING. Zerg is still viable and always will be.
Every patch for a long time has felt like an attempt to nerf Serrel, and every time he has bounced back and figured out a way through it... but there's always a part of me that wonders what'd happen if his response was to race switch...
Yeah, we see Protoss underperforming but then when Raynor off races as toss, he showed a new playstyle that has been adopted by some of the top protoss. I'm a toss player myself, but there isn't enough credit given to all of these top zerg players. They are hands down playing the hardest race and the reason they are getting results that seem unbalanced is because these guys are insane at what they do. Snipers in shooting games are very unfair too if a pro hits every single shot. But is the answer to reduce the strength of the sniper? Or should people learn to not get into positions where they will get sniped. I'm referencing the baneling nerf with this analogy.
And rightly so, there is even precedent for it! Reapers were nerfed twice because Byun basicly broke the game. So why not nerf the units Serral abuses the most?
@@Tyletoful I don't see how pro players would fail to implement a strategy that allows effective avoidance of banelings. If your argument is that terran players simply lack the ability to properly micro or position their units, then it seems the task is not humanly feasible. Unless micro considerations can be discarded (perhaps through a sufficiently advanced AI that could show the objective best race under optimal play (not even sure if this is theoretically possible)), I don't see how your claim is falsifiable.
Also, assuming perfect aim and near instantaneous reaction times, snipers are clearly the best weapon outside of point blank range. There is simply no way to contest a sniper with anything other than a sniper assuming similar reaction times. In a deathmatch scenario, it seems the player with the sniper in ideal circumstances always beats a player using a different weapon. There is simply no way to duel it.
i honestly just think that zerg in its core design its broken at a high level and just damn near unstopable if reached its full potential

At this level of play you could call a lot of the mistakes "forced errors" as there's usually a clear reason for a slow response or attention being diverted. This is a term often used in professional Tennis match commentary when a player is forcing themselves to make a return but it goes out rather than them having a comfortable shot but pushing it or trying to be tricky and they miss or make a foul shot.

Pretty rare to see a bunker push so successful, loved it.
That full wall with the low surface area seemed to make all the difference; dont usually see that.
It's ridiculous that t3 unit Ultralisk which should be good against one thing if anything - Marines - gets taken down in one second by them.
But remember. 25 less minerals. Very important!
Long series are great, but sub 20 min games are also great because I can chill while having breakfast and enjoy some of the best SC2 games 🎉

Lowko at 6:20 clem had shown his banshee without cloak which made serral think there was no cloak then when the 2nd banshee turned up clem shown the cloak which shocked serral into making a overseer it was a very good mind play by serral

You can look at his results vs Zerg before the patch and after the patch, it is very significant.
Clem always was an amazing player - and if everything that Zerg does against bio is nerfed, obviously his results in TvZ will benefit and his results will be even better.

Many already consider Serral as the 🐐, but if he wins another Championship at Blizzcon despite all the Zerg nerfs, then nobody will be able to contest him being SC2 GOAT.
There is already - statistically speaking - no chance to deny this. Serral does not have a negative win rate against ANY pro player since he won his first premier event in 2015. Not one other player comes close to this feat. He has won most premier tournaments, most world championships (among others) and has the highest win rates in Korea for many years.
Pulling the Marines out of the bunker in between spine crawler hits is so insane. It looks like the MicroMachine AI is playing.

Clem is just at another level lately, I'm personally a Maru guy but hell I'm enjoying a lot of Clem too.
I'm more on Maru as well but peak Clem is joy to watch. He used to have high form before, nice to see him in such shape again or maybe even better.

@@alexch3618 What else would terran do? It seems unreasonable to simply not adapt to the patch.
Also, it seems strange to suggest that issues pros had playing around banelings could simply be resolved by changing playstyle. It's not very plausible to me that the best players in the world would struggle against banelings because of a lack of micro ability or unit composition. If it is the case that resolving these issues is feasible, it's unclear why pros would be unable to do that.

Oblivion? They still had more players in the top 8 then the other 2 races. The nerf to baneling was sorely needed and to be honest, it was only a nerf that favored Clem because he's the only one that can focus down banes consistently wave after wave after wave. What he does is literally impossible for everyone else and the un-nerfed bane was punishing even him. They really need to be removed from the game imo and replaced with a more skill based unit. Zerg has been abusing them for years now and the units that used to counter it were just dumped in the trash because some dev at Blizzard was obviously very pro-Zerg biased.
Banes are not all that good lol. There’s something called load into medivacs and that lets any initiation from the Zerg get punished and leak cost efficiency since Zerg has really bad air counters until late game. Are they good against bio? Yes. Are they gas heavy and larvae heavy . Yes . Terrans get rewarded for being able to micro and they have plenty of splash options against the long bane composition and it’s not abusive in the matchup like something like tempests or ghosts where a unit can gain unlimited value by outranging the entire army and pretty much 1 shotting them.
@@cavemantero whaaat? Did ever see zerg cost efficient at pro level? I watched lowko enough to say that zerg never trade 1v1 they need to take more bases or they will lose heavily. Skill unit? Okey so replace widow mines too, they aren't skill unit they just burrow and shoot, replace all skytoss they are just A move to other side....
Mortal? The guy only lost two games since he lost to Solar on October the 5th. Clem was the only player who defeated him since then... the only one! If he didn't lose these two games, Serral would have won each and every game for 3 months straight.
Clem this year alone already lost to Byun, MaxPax and Astrea.

Serral just plays better in many regards than any other sc 2 player, sometimes it's not even close. The way he splits off unit groups against runbys, keeps vision on his opponents constantly with zerglings and overlords and macroes is in its own league. That's why serral is considered the GOAT and while it is cool to see clem yet again snipe every baneling before they reach his marines, that alone is often enough to basically win the game later on, which is kinda silly.

There are not too many.. Serral's overall winrate vs Clem is nuts.
I feel like the Z could use some more units that can attack both ground and air, they have almost no good option in that regard, i think that would balance this match up more since all T units can fly and heal with medivacs/repairs and so many of them can attack both ground/air units.

I disagree. The queens anti air is no joke and they have them at every base, and the hydra has some of the highest dps in the game. They also have vipers and mutas for shutting down medivacs if they wanna go that route. Medivacs are some of the only ways that terrans can stay cost efficient and keep up with the Zerg economy.
@@TrentBattyDrums queen dmg is so low. They don’t have them at every base either. Most of the time they are on a separate control group and are microed to a drop when it’s noticed ahead of time. It’s another 2 supply that Zerg can’t use offensively and they trade terribly into marines.
@@TrentBattyDrums the only issue with the other units is the ghost wipes the floor with most units and is VERY cost efficient so they can’t be used as often. Also a marine drop would smoke a muta ball from 6-8 Mutas for half the cost. I do agree the viper needs to used more but hydra got nerfed a while ago, I think another option would be nice

Can WE Talk aboout the Micro ? Clem is better than byun at it, combined with stellar macro and strategies. Watching him Play reminds me of Innovations dominance with the mmm Parade Push. Only clem is far more versatile.

To be fair, Serral beats everyone except Clem. His last loss against someone different than Clem was early October. Clem alone this year lost to Byun, Astrea and MaxPax. I think Serral will adapt to Clem and beat any other Terran regardless of nerfs.

About to watch this video-- My guess is Clem comes out on top in this match up--while Serral is the GOAT in my opinion, Clem has always had his number, somehow. Excited to see what happens!
I mean all the Zerg, errr Serral, nerfs over the last few patches certainly helped that... It's funny how it was only Serral that was doing exceptionally well with Zerg post Broodlord+Infestor nerf. All the other top Zergs were in line with the top Terrans and Protoss(before they went to the military that is). Yet for some unknown(Serral) reason Zerg just kept on getting nerfed over and over again. So yeah now other pros are starting to have his number...

Im not a zerg player, but what about widow mines? They can also one-shot drones. And in fact you may not need a medevac to shift click them to zerg bases. That is response to baling nerf, which "kills drones too fast"
If a baneling had to burrow and then a timer before it could blow up, I could see your point. But a baneling is instakill for units and buildings and cannot be dodged. Widow mines are also double the cost and have a long cooldown. Maybe they did go too far with the nerf, but banelings were too strong. You can’t mass widow mines and kill entire bases with workers and all in seconds.
@@TrentBattyDrums the point is i can reuse mines sometimes they can shoot a couple of times.
@@TrentBattyDrums Mines have range and can be dropped with medivacs and they cost exactly 25 minerals more than banes (50/25 for each baneling), plus they stay alive. The main point why mines and such don't receive nerfs is because T players are crybabies and successfully lobby for their race.

Serral defeated every Terran, except Clem. He also didn't lose a single match except these two matches against Clem since his loss to Solar on October 5th. He simply needs to adjust.

How long is this game going to ensure that Protoss can't win a tournament? Personally, I think the Baneling nerf MAY be justified (but I hate Zerg, so am very wary of my bias), but Toss seems to need some kind of buff, or something.

Seeing game 3 with the cyclones there and the bunker rush (traditionally one of the strongest cheeses in sc 2) and seeing you can apparently wall the natural off with 3 bunkers (wtf?) i kinda fail to see what serral should have done better there to ensure a win. It feels like with these cyclones buffering T mid game so heavily there are quite a number of games in which Z just cannot win if T plays it well enough.

In the last 30 days Clem has a 100% win rate vs Zerg, 11 games, 11 win. 85% win rate vs Protoss, 80% vs Terrans

I don't think those metrics do say too much in such small time frames.
Serral, Clem's opponent from this match, for example, won 100% of his matches in November and since October the 5th won every single one of his matches except 2 against Clem. Since October 6th that gives Serral a 100% win rate vs Zerg, 100% win rate vs Toss and a 81.82% win rate vs Terran because of his two losses against Clem (although he also defeated him 3 times). Overall he won 94.29% of his matches from October the 6th until today, lol.
Or if we look at the stats after the patch: Since the balance patch, they faced off 6 times. Serral won 4, Clem 2. Serral's overall winrate since then: 92.31%, Clem's 86.29%.

Most people have issues with the baneling, but I’m still caught up on the cyclone.
Compared to a hydralisk, it moves faster, has more health, more dps, more range, easier to tech up to, and more damage. All at the cost of 25 more minerals 😂
Revert the cyclone changes please
I think the hydra needs to be cheaper and moved back to T1.5 with roach warren. Replace baneling with a better unit at T 2.0. Maybe hydras morph into a faster longer ranged anti-air unit or something.

For years terrans perfected marine splits and baneling targeting and now that the top terrans are able to handle them, the banes get nerfed 😂 I think the 5hp nerf was too much. Curious if they ever nerf marines, with the upgrades and everything they are such a hard Allrounder, it's like zerglings that can shoot up

Serral still has higher win rates than Clem though... I think the only opponent Serral struggles against currently is Clem. That might distort the perception a little bit. Serral's last lost match against someone other than Clem dates back to the 5th of October against Solar. Clem alone this year lost to Astrea, Byun and MaxPax.

Let me correct this: Serral won EVERY game against ANY player except 2 losses to Clem and 1 to Solar. Clem - alone this year - lost to Astrea, Byun and MaxPax. Serral is an absolute monster at the moment with an over 92.31% win rate since the new match. He is by far the best player at the moment.
Clem is insane too though, standing at 86.29% match win rate this patch.

Baneling was spammed way too much. Games look way more balanced now. Zerg are focusing more on spellcasters to swing battles so actually have to use micro instead of attack move.

I have to disagree with you Lowko, Terrans never switched from marine marauder because of banes, but mainly because of lurkers which completely obsolete marine marauder mine and force ghost mech. Not much has changed in that matter except ghost snipes deal way less dmg, they get cancelled if the unit gets out of range, ghost EMP radius is nerfed, only Clem decided to play more libs in TvZ than ever before. Why, I don't know. Maybe because they don't deal friendly fire. At the same time infestors now spawn with enough energy for a fungal. I'd really be careful about saying who got the better of the patch. Right after the patch Serral wasn't really losing to Clem, if anything makes the difference Clem is just playing on an insane level right now. Other Terrans not so hot honestly
This. I've been a fan of Clem since I first watched him because what he was doing back years ago was literally impossible and now his entire game is complete. After watching him live at that ESL he is the best SC player I've ever seen hands down. To only drop 2 games to Solar, Dark, and Serrall to win the tourney is ridculously unreal.
Terran bio is extremely cost efficient and has no real counter from Zerg. If Zerg goes infestor they can get sniped and hurts the cost efficiency even more. If they counter with lurkers they can get medivac dropped and Terran gets to swap into ghosts which eat 6 banes a piece and counter every Zerg unit but zerglings and banes. Even ultras against bio are garbage if there’s no fungal. The ghost nerf was more towards protoss for the emp anyways since it just cuts 33%-50% of the protoss hp with 1 ability, the snipe nerf was quite needed as it’s 20-30 supply of dmg for energy that had no counter except to kamakazee in and hope the trades go well . As someone else said I think the issue is the Zerg players are being rewarded for micro and the skill level is not there for protoss at all and that’s why there is no relevant protoss players in tournaments except for max pax and reynor who is also a Zerg lol. The feast reynor off racing is anything close to a pro protoss is sad because the skill gap should be there but it’s still comparable.

Serral didn't lose a single match to a Terran (or any other player) except two times against Clem since the balance patch.

@@logik1677 so you are saying Serral is the exception? Because after the patch, Solar won the GSL, and Clem was bestes by Serrl 3 times as well. The balance in TvZ might have changed a little, but so far it is still fine imo.
