- Here are some of the things that stood out at the last watch fair in Geneva. The industry is bracing itself for a challenging period after the peak of the covid years. Time to focus and be selective from the production and the buying side.

Très bon résumé ! Merci !
Finally a proper, honest, review of this year's w&w
Wonder why brands never invite me ;-)
I like several of the watches you highlighted, including the Chopard line. The VC dual time looked very interesting to me. I see the market softening for at least a few years. The biggest combined market in the world for Swiss watches, HK+CN, has quite a few financial headwinds, and other past big spenders, like Russian oligarchs, also have challenges. So luxury spending won’t be booming as much as in the past few years.
Thanks for another really good video. Keep up the great work. Any chance of a monthly "Hong Kong Secondhand Watch Shops" walkaround? I do love those videos.
My day job really gets in the way of my hobby... which is financed by my day job
@@UptickWatchReviews , no problem, it was just a request, work and family always come first. i appreciate your videos, keep the good work up
Those last few independents looked pretty amazing.
JLC - just exquisite !
thx for your take, always cool to listen to it.
The Rolex dial is definitely made by CNC-machine. It's better than pressed though.
Great highlights summary..👍
That JLC is a must have for me, Rolex was a joke, Tudor was decent but not really interesting enough, Cartier hmmmm...yawn! I was at the salon and only JLC caught my attention, crazy timepieces, Duometres and all!!! WOW
I want to like the Duometre but the salmon dial kept the power reserve cut outs from last generation and all models have a new slimmer crown which looks to me to be a downgrade, especially when you wind the watch in both directions.
For sure at those prices you want them to be perfect in every way. Good observations. I actually don't love the aperture versions, I prefer the full dial
Agree the indies stole the show. Bloody pirates..! But the big boys? Dude, Dad denim at Patek? No. $50-100k JLC complications? C'mon. A tasteless exhibition of tone-deaf vulgarity. Zero excitement into a flagging market. Only the Swiss watch industry could have met a global downturn with the strategy 'let them eat cake.' I've spoken to 2 relevant ADs who are... concerned. Double denim, digga gold and gouging was not what they wanted.
We ought to do a podcast to review this stuff
You just had to drop the digga huh
05:53: Error detected: IWC is Swiss made, don't you remember?.
I always feel like they're the Germans of Switzerland
IWC is Swiss and not German.
I realised later but it's kinda the most German of the Swiss :-)
