  • How to Build a Scrap Wood Raised Planter Box or Garden Bed with Legs. Suffering from a bad back can be a painful experience when working out in the garden which is why having a raised planter box or garden bed is such a great idea! Making the planter box mobile is also an added advantage as you can move it around to escape the scorching sun or howling wind. Building the planter box out of the right materials is also an important factor to consider. I’m using reclaimed hardwood fence palings for this raised garden bed which has a couple of benefits. It’s durable so it’s suitable for outside use, it’s food safe and because it has been salvaged…..it won’t cost you a single cent! Scrap wood projects like this planter box are also beneficial in that you are using materials that would otherwise have been thrown out or burnt so it’s a good feeling to know that you are also doing your little bit to save the planet. I hope you enjoy and find the video useful 

      Look up wicking beds, it's a whole new universe of growing stuff with out constantly watering, better than keeping your masking tape in zip lock bags.
      My wife made heaps of those wicking pots out of just about anything with her students at special school. They work a treat.

      You guys always say that these things are easy. LOL! I love your presentation and your finished product is awesome. Just wondering if you can show us real newbies how to build a simpler elevated raised garden bed that doesn’t require using those scary power saws? Perhaps that’s asking too much?

    Hi buddy, this is inspiring as usual from you!! However, I only have a finishing nailer and presume your nails are special, like have teeth perhaps...I'd think my Brad nails would slide out soon enough, with the weight of the soil pushing the boards apart?

    • @diyforknuckleheads
      @diyforknuckleheads  2 роки тому +1

      G'day mate 👍 Your nails would be fine as all the soil is contained in plastic pots. Thanks for watching 👍😁🇦🇺

      @@diyforknuckleheads hi buddy, thanks for getting back to me! I've been meaning to read my alerts since I saw this, sorry. When I asked I wondered about the structural weight, I appreciate you're saying the weight won't be pushing the sides but Id be surprised if 30mm Brad's would hold a planter or essentially a table in this case, up? :O if it would, I'd give it a try excitedly! :D

    • @diyforknuckleheads

      @@clevelandexplorer2221 No worries at all mate. If you use glue in conjunction with those nails you should be ok if you boards are only 12mm or approx 1/2" thick 👍👍

    Hey mate, as usual a great diy from you. So here’s a tip from me, if you haven’t been privy already. Check out Teeter inversion tables for bad backs. Good luck and thank you again.
