He's king Carey! The reason I started barracking for the Roos and the absolute best footy player ever. Let's hope we see some stars like him in the future
It's been an absolute disgrace how the greatest player of not only North Melbourne but the AFL has been treated. Hopefully the supporters and the club will finally fully embrace you as in the 90s for the true hero you are.
@@timdaughte Exactly. One of, if not the best i've seen on the football field, but has done some truly horrible things off the field. Great player, not a great person at all.
@@JezzaN1 Interesting that you quickly judge a person by a small number of their mistakes, and not by all the good they have done. Wayne Carey IS a great person who has done bad things. NOT a bad person who has done great things.
@@psychopaul Interesting how easily you're willing to overlook Carey's abuse of multiple women, due to him being a good footy player. Says more about you than it does about me mate.
Speaks well for a bloke with humble & troubled beginnings . Did do some bad things off field & I think he knows they were wrong & did immeasurable damage to him & the club. Does sound sincere & regretful . Did what the club paid him for & that was to play footy & win games , wasn’t paid to be citizen of the year . Hope his troubles are behind him now. The club needs him back in the fold.
I'm a 67 year old Geelong supporter, followed Geelong since I was 6 years old. I've seen a lot of great footballers. Picking the best player I've seen play our game comes down to two players, both from North Melbourne, I cannot split the two, the first player in chronological order is Malcolm Blight, he was fantastic to watch: a pack of players would fly for the ball and Malcolm Blight would fly out the top and mark it, he could kick the ball a mile, left or right he could do anything. The next player is Wayne Carey he was such a fantastic player, seemed like he had the footy on a string. So who's the best player I've ever seen, one of those two brilliant players. Wayne Carey number one, or Malcolm Blight?
From 1989-2001 The King played 244 games and kicked 671 goals averaging 2.8 goals per game. 32 times he notched 20 plus disposals and kicked five or more goals in the same game. 42 times he booted five snags in a match. Five times he had 30 disposals in a game and twice he booted ten goals in a game. His best games include Round 17 1996 against Melbourne 31 disposals,15 marks (12 of those marks were contested), and 11.2 on 20 kicks. 1999 he had 10.5 with 23 disposals and a dozen marks including a goal of the year nominee where he slammed the ball with his left foot from 35 metres on the boundary line.
The King always going to be number, probably across all clubs. Surprised Blight not top 3 and Cable absent from top 10 - watch his 1977 finals series. Sublime.
Probably no real surprise to see Duck go no 1.But obviously boy have there been some real stars/legends that have played for North down the years. As a Carlton fan I've always had a soft spot for North always have and always will can't wait to see you guys back up there :)
I’m disappointed to hear Wayne say in his acceptance speech that he would’ve had Blighty higher than 6. I’m a few years older than Wayne. Whilst Malcolm was obviously a mercurial player, and everyone looks great on a highlights reel, there were also some ordinary games in there. Wayne might not have seen any of them. I think the selectors did a great job.

Statically not true. Leigh matthews holds that title.
My question is: what is the best players based on?

I forgive him

Single handedly saved our club on the field and Dennis Pagan off it 😊👍

Why is the MC leaning on the Lecturn?
Agree. It was so annoying and totally unprofessional to be slumped over the lectern like that. Or maybe had he had too many beers!
Sandy Roberts had a pinched nerve in his quad and Achilles’ tendon.
The toilet at this event was occupied for most of the night
Kellie Stevens in the crowd?
Everybody waiting for her toilet stops.
@@Vinnie101a Ahhh. Wondered why it was so hard to take a piss that night. Occupied the whole night
