I’ve worked as a groomer and often breeds have their coat for a reason. For example, to keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter, wisk away sweat and while haircuts and certain levels of maintenance are necessary, they need it to be long enough to prevent painful sunburn and certain coats need TONS of maintenance such as daily brushing/combing with appropriate tools and you need to wipe the genitalia/anus with a warm cloth to prevent infection and caked feces, plus a haircut every 6-8 weeks and often moisturizing shampoos/conditioner for skin and always keeping up on weekly ear and dental care. This is necessary for health because if ignored matting can happen that can cut of circulation: mats can’t be brushed out because they rip the skin/can even cause limp loss...ANYWAYS this stuff looks like fun for the owners but some of these cuts are not healthy for the dogs: they are damaging the coats and they won’t grow back healthy, the coats are too short and exposed delicate skin to sunburn and irritation from pretty much ANYTHING (hairless animals need special care for this and other things), and most animals are distressed during necessary grooming that takes half the time, this takes longer and isn’t necessary. It also encourages the idea that pets are accessories and they don’t need real care, it’s just about looks. A lot of people I’ve seen that do these things (not all, but many) have the money for the vet and training, good food, but their dog has yeasty ears, abscesses in their mouth, a skin infection, is on inappropriate diet, crappy haircut but dyed red, white and blue for Fourth of July with a sparkly collar and sweater in 100 degrees that MUST stay on because “it MATCHES.”

Just because there is no ammonia or alcohol does NOT make it truly non-toxic. I've seen devastating allergic reactions to "natural, non-toxic hair dyes"... Unless those colors come from fruits, spices etc., they are synthetic and absorbed through the skin. Read the plethora of all the OTHER ingredients in these so-called non-toxic dyes, and bet you'll find carcinogenic and/or neuro-toxic ingredients among them.

What's sucks about this, is that I'd be worried about all the dirty looks you'd probably get when out walking your dog because of the misinformation about pet hair dye in society. It comes from a good place though, but they need to understand that there's safe dyes out there and some people look at it as not much different than a haircut.
Alright so, for the slow people: -This is not abuse. -Watch the entire video. -This is a hobby and job, it's fun. -These people do care, both owner and groomer. -This groomer doesn't have to color your pet, they can simply bathe and cut them. -A lot of conventions and competitions do dye their animals (with safe animal friendly dyes) -There is specifically a competition to whoever has the better dyed dog. They are either given a theme or do whatever. The owner brings in their poodle (or any other breed, poodles are most common) and they do amazing art work on their pet and judges pick whoever will move on in the competition. *it is not abuse* -also the dog doesn't even know what's on them.. As long as they get attention they're happy! :")

it's the same exact thing as dyeing our own hair. The pet's don't even know what's happening to them.. they don't care. They're receiving attention and that's all that matters. How could they not like it? Give me one solid *fact* that shows they physically don't enjoy it. Owner's can change whatever they want about their pet.. fortunately and unfortunately. Dyeing and cutting your dogs hair has been around *forever*, kid, and it has never been a problem. The only problem is that some beginners don't buy the right healthy dyes, other than that, this is a completely safe and fun hobby/job! :)

People saying it's animal abuse because they don't enjoy it needs to realize that we still brush them and trim dog's nails, bathe them and train them to do tricks for our amusement, this is no different. Dogs can learn to love stuff like this, especially if it's always a pleasant experience for them. Plus, I don't think they mind the extra attention they get either
"For our amusement" does not mean treating the animal like a toy. Take my Jack Russell for example, I've taught her every trick in the book, yes, for *my* amusement, yet she is over-joyed whenever I bring out the clicker. Dogs love to work with humans, that's what they've been bred to do for centuries. Painting their coats is no different than teaching them to wait before eating their dinner.

So the cure for her depression was attention - not so much the grooming - Grooming itself creates a bond She has no idea what she looks like, nor understands why/how she looks like that. She would get the same outcome without being styled or painted, or having her nails done - not saying its terrible to do, but clearing up that the paint job and styles - dogs dont care about, they aren't as complex as humans nor as aware. She came out of depression due to attention from the groomer alone. :)
SwankyPotato if there was a normal looking poodle and a pink poodle I'd naturally migrate to the pink one. Khalee's depression wasn't cured by an hour of attention from the groomer but by the attention she received from the other people in her neighbourhood. And as the groomer said, the colours ar non-toxic and she likes the nail decals
I love it! As a groomer myself I have always wanted to get into the creative style grooming. I'm also glad to hear that you are in tuned with the animals and report back to the owners if anything is a miss. I believe that we need more groomers who take pride in their job and actually care about the animals not just dollar signs. Keep up the great work.

However this is done purely for the owners amusement, the animals dont look into the mirror and thinks: A Giraffe. today i want to be a giraffe! Everything used is dog safe. Its dog safe nail polish and jewelry. And she even explains the dog doesn't chew their nails. If you know your dog its fine but its all safe and those small things would pass straight through that massive dog if it were to suddenly want to eat them. They're all happy and healthy. The only time I dyed any of my creature features was for a Halloween charity event at the stables. We dyed them using animal safe dyes and paints. Typical Halloween themed things. People voted on their favorites by donation box for each horse and the kids were allowed to come up and interact. We each had our own little routine to show off from the skeleton horses pulling a creepy carriage to liberty work ('This is Halloween' w/ Jack and Sally) etc. Ended up well surpassing our goal for donations.
I used to work at a beauty store and there would be so many people asking if our hair dye was animal safe. I would always recommend they go to a groomer like this, since they wouldn’t get hurt. Caroline, keep doing what you are doing! Your pets look fabulous!

There is nothing wrong with dyeing your pets as long as the dye is not toxic for them. I think it makes them unique as long as the dye is safe it’s the same thing as getting them a hair cut! :3

Those complaining about them cutting their fur these are poodles, goldendoodles, cats ect their fur is not like huskies or great Pyrenees when they're used to self regulate. These dogs coats especially poodles can get exstreamly matted if not cut short or brushed 2 times a day. Cats on the other hand I can sorta see why but hairless cats do perfectly fine.

I know as well my dog is a Maltese shih tzu and his fur gets matted also it makes it very hot for him also when he gets a trim and people visit everyone’s like “aww he’s so handsome” “aww look he’s soo cute” and he gets loads of attention which my dog personally likes

What's sucks about this, is that I'd be worried about all the dirty looks you'd probably get when out walking your dog because of the misinformation about pet hair dye in society. It comes from a good place though, but they need to understand that there's safe dyes out there and some people look at it as not much different than a haircut.

-This is not abuse.
-Watch the entire video.
-This is a hobby and job, it's fun.
-These people do care, both owner and groomer.
-This groomer doesn't have to color your pet, they can simply bathe and cut them.
-A lot of conventions and competitions do dye their animals (with safe animal friendly dyes)
-There is specifically a competition to whoever has the better dyed dog. They are either given a theme or do whatever. The owner brings in their poodle (or any other breed, poodles are most common) and they do amazing art work on their pet and judges pick whoever will move on in the competition. *it is not abuse*
-also the dog doesn't even know what's on them.. As long as they get attention they're happy! :")

Owner's can change whatever they want about their pet.. fortunately and unfortunately. Dyeing and cutting your dogs hair has been around *forever*, kid, and it has never been a problem. The only problem is that some beginners don't buy the right healthy dyes, other than that, this is a completely safe and fun hobby/job! :)

People saying it's animal abuse because they don't enjoy it needs to realize that we still brush them and trim dog's nails, bathe them and train them to do tricks for our amusement, this is no different.

"For our amusement" does not mean treating the animal like a toy. Take my Jack Russell for example, I've taught her every trick in the book, yes, for *my* amusement, yet she is over-joyed whenever I bring out the clicker.
Dogs love to work with humans, that's what they've been bred to do for centuries. Painting their coats is no different than teaching them to wait before eating their dinner.

kaleh the fancy dog she had depression and if she looks fancy it helps her get intention and makes her feel like poole love her and want to play with her
so yeah fancy grooming does help
So the cure for her depression was attention - not so much the grooming - Grooming itself creates a bond
She has no idea what she looks like, nor understands why/how she looks like that.
She would get the same outcome without being styled or painted, or having her nails done - not saying its terrible to do, but clearing up that the paint job and styles - dogs dont care about, they aren't as complex as humans nor as aware. She came out of depression due to attention from the groomer alone. :)
SwankyPotato if there was a normal looking poodle and a pink poodle I'd naturally migrate to the pink one. Khalee's depression wasn't cured by an hour of attention from the groomer but by the attention she received from the other people in her neighbourhood. And as the groomer said, the colours ar non-toxic and she likes the nail decals

I'm also glad to hear that you are in tuned with the animals and report back to the owners if anything is a miss. I believe that we need more groomers who take pride in their job and actually care about the animals not just dollar signs. Keep up the great work.
These animals are clearly happy and healthy(other than kitty that seem like hes just done for the day) and very used to being groomed.
And it is good that the paint used is 100% non toxic. However this is done purely for the owners amusement, the animals dont look into the mirror and thinks: A Giraffe. today i want to be a giraffe!
The pieces of glitter and plastic/glass jewels can possibly cause concern depending on the dog. It could gnaw at its claws and eat it.

The only time I dyed any of my creature features was for a Halloween charity event at the stables. We dyed them using animal safe dyes and paints. Typical Halloween themed things. People voted on their favorites by donation box for each horse and the kids were allowed to come up and interact. We each had our own little routine to show off from the skeleton horses pulling a creepy carriage to liberty work ('This is Halloween' w/ Jack and Sally) etc. Ended up well surpassing our goal for donations.

There is nothing wrong with dyeing your pets as long as the dye is not toxic for them.

Those complaining about them cutting their fur these are poodles, goldendoodles, cats ect their fur is not like huskies or great Pyrenees when they're used to self regulate. These dogs coats especially poodles can get exstreamly matted if not cut short or brushed 2 times a day. Cats on the other hand I can sorta see why but hairless cats do perfectly fine.

I know as well my dog is a Maltese shih tzu and his fur gets matted also it makes it very hot for him also when he gets a trim and people visit everyone’s like “aww he’s so handsome” “aww look he’s soo cute” and he gets loads of attention which my dog personally likes
