So happy to see you Andrew! Your videos are a huge reason they got my old arse onto MTBs again and reignited my childhood passion! Gorgeous footage as well!
Gteat vid..some beautiful views especially from the drone..no messing. Am an ebike fan - as a knackered 57 yr old my 29er full sus Haibike now extends my cycling life, takes me places I would probably not try on my conventional mtb (and protects my buggered knees)
Brilliant mate, that looked more intense descents than the Ben Lomond one, with the narrow gullies , hope you enjoyed it as much as your viewers are 👍👍👍👍
So that's how eMTB sounds! Sorry, I never had ridden in one, more so, actually see an actual unit. As always, this is an amazing virtual treat! Lots'a love, coffee-cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines!
Awesome shots again from the drone, really takes away some of that GoPro effect where I sit here and think "yeah, I could climb that, don't look too bad". Whatever you spent on the drone, it's worth every penny...
Lovely. You really are getting some incredible drone footage now Andrew, in fact I can't think of anyone doing it better! I'd be keen for Ben Mor if you need a pigeon along 😁🤣
Another cracking video big guy💪🙌 ebike meehh😋😋 great footage and commentary as always. As a frustrated owner of multiple (some lost never to be seen again) drones, that drone looks sensational!
Good to see you back out on the Ebike, the Pivot seems to handle Beinn Ghlass well, perfect for climbing and ideal for carrying speed over rougher sections of descent. You mentioned biking Ben More, walked that via Ben More farm very steep hill climb so not sure how you'd tackle that one, maybe from Inverlochlarig, always impressed by your Munro riding beyond my skill level but set myself the challenge of riding some of the smaller central belt hills - the Lomonds, The Kilpatricks, the Pentlands which I have done these three sets of hills and am going to attempt the Ochils next week have never done before, thanks for sharing Andy 😁🤙
Will definitely be hitting Ben More from the Inverlochlarig side, not a chance I’d tackle it from the Crianlarich side😬 The snow has just about gone now so it should be getting hit soon👍
Another good thing about going later in the day this time of year is the interesting light conditions picking out features of the hills - like you had high up. This is the silver lining for me as someone who takes forever to get my arse into gear.
Great video, I enjoyed this hill but not carrying an ebike over boulder field lol. Skydio is unusual with the front blades underneath, footage is amazing. Thumbs up from me 👍🍻
I followed your suggestion and got the skydio 2. Got to NZ very quickly and paid no extra tax. Have crashed it already but it luckily still worked after clearing off all the mud. What bag are you using to carry it? My camel pak is way to small.
Glad you got it hassle free 👍 This it’s the backpack kriega.com/riderpacks/trail18 but you will be able to find a cheaper, maybe more appropriate pack elsewhere.
Cheers for this Andrew. Another super video. I have been completing Munros that I can do on my Ebike such as Carn a Chlamain, Ben Chonzie & Mount Keen. So added this to my 'To Do' list. Would appreciate any more suggestions re Bike friendly Munros. Cheers. Stoozer.
The drone shots looks fantastic but what they really do is to bring out your level of skill on the narrow steep sections; it is just such a nimble figure you give riding that bike around and over these big boulders while keeping it on the trail - absolutely amazing. I've come across a similar looking path recently and honestly just had to walk most of it. BTW I am also riding an E-MTB, albeit a hard tail (the bike has to double up as the power unit that pulls a kids trailer in normal life), so interesting discussion vs the MTB. Eventually (when the kids are firmly on their own wheels) I do want to get a more trail appropriate bike for Scotland but I am very undecided if it should be a FS E-MTB or FS MTB. Also curious to see the developments on the high-pivot point which I'd expect to see more of. Would you be able to recommend a nice and easy mountain to go up and down? I've done up Ben Venue round the loop down along Leddard Burn to Loch Ard but it was too easy at the beginning and too difficult later on (too much hike a bike). I got Ben Ledi and possibly Ben Lomond on my list but just wondered if you had any thoughts on good mountrains/trails to do? I'd love to get out and away on single-track and like climbing but I'd still want it to be ridable for the most part (noting my skill level is nowhere near yours). Some of your Cairngorm adventures looked like they'd offer more of that so I may need to venture a bit further afield this summer (I'm based near Glasgow). Thank you very much for all the inspiration anyways...
Thanks Chris, if your only going to have one bike, I’d go for a regular mtb. Are you curious about his pivots in general or my one specifically? For an easier Munro, it’s definitely recommend the Cairngorms, Sgòr Gaoith, Bynak More, and Beinn a’ Bhuird are all very fun and relatively easy.
@@McTrailRider thanks these are Great recommendations! Tbh I looked into these because you re riding the deviate highlander. There is a Canadian brand I am aware of (forbidden Druid) and of course the new trek slash. I m guessing deviate is most accessible for us in U.K. but is a custom build? Super light e-mtbs seem to be really good too and becoming a thing (I ve seen the one from specialised in action and available in the U.K.) offering the best of both worlds…
You're on track with the Tay - it has by far the largest catchment area and flow of any river system in Britain - though there are 'longer' rivers doon sooth.
Yeah I remember that from high school. In my head though, the river Tay naturally should continue on at the other end of loch Tay instead of the river Dochart, but I know it doesn’t work like that.
I remember climbing down backwards off Meall Garbh, so I duvnae think yea’ll be cycling doon the beaten track so to speak. Nice area 😎 nice evening oot 😁
@@McTrailRider From memory and it was a good 6 years ago ! most of the ridge was very easy walking, I'm old and I would be happy riding the ridge on my mountain bike, just not the thirty or so metres down off Meall Garbh. Some steep bits on the way up to Meall Greigh. I'm sure you've been over to www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/meall-nan-tarmachan.shtml to click on the walk reports 😉
great video Andrew - goes without saying that the views from the top were breathtaking - ebikes rock for going up hills :) the descent looked tricky - interesting comparison with the ebike weight vs the highlander -but how much speed were you carrying after the seat rails broke down at the bottom section!!! big skills mate! and again...drone just takes your regular great filming to another level. ...looking forward to the next McTrail ride already :)
Ebikes rock! Got one last Oct dont think I will be riding anything else now, and that's coming from riding mtb since 1987/88 rigid, hardtails, full sus, enduro now emtb, other wise I would've had to give up riding as nae getting any younger and carrying quite a few old injuries now ,RTA's ,motorcycle injuries etc.

I’m not convinced you’re in Scotland. We spent every summer holiday growing up, up in the most beautiful country on the planet.....and I can’t remember seeing the sun for much of it-let alone being in a T-shirt! You’ve done a few vids recently where the sun is out. The scenery looks Scottish but the weather most definitely does not!
The simple reason is that I only ride in Sunny conditions. I have many destinations that I want to go to, and I just keep checking the weather forecast to see which one is going to be the nicest😉
Good to see e bike out question have you play with the settings on the Shimano app or is it still on the standard settings I ask because I feel boost to much on really steep techy climbs but I cant seem to get the app work my phone I like back it off to save on battery.

Perhaps more awkward, but Ben Lomond is tougher. The shoulder of this one is very similar to Lomond though.
