    In the late eighties I met a girl online via a BBS. Her nick was Jessica Rabbit and she looked like the toon. Long red hair, similar shape, tiny. My nick was actually "Bugz Bunny" at the time. Heh. Anyway, she was an artist and she ended up moving to go to a prestigious art college in Ontario, Canada(Sheridan College) and she ultimately ended up working on a few Disney films. We kept in touch for the first little bit after she went to college in 1989 a few provinces away but it eventually fizzled into nothing. She drew a picture of me from memory on her flight back to school. I never got a copy of it.
    Anyway, that's my story. Videos like these always trigger some personal story and I love to share them.

      Ordinary lives of ordinary people write their own stories. I am really amazed about this wonderful technology we have today. Basically an ordinary person shared his experience on some ordinary piece of technology, that we as a global civilization have, and another ordinary person, lucky to understand the language and its written form, is writing here these words. I am not sure if my amazement of this world can be conveyed in a few characters that I type here. But it is a true miracle, while at the same time, it is not. It is just a mundane, simple thing. On one hand very "human" (or that I would hope), on the other very "non-personal". Both at the same time I guess. I wonder if there are any AI bots in the comments section, trying to learn something about human beings, so they interact with them.

    • @Del-Canada
      @Del-Canada 2 роки тому +8

      @@erikziak1249 There are plenty of bots around, but they aren't that sophisticated yet. I often imagine people reading comments like this 100 years from now. I mean if this video and YT still exists in its current form. Over the years I have seen trends come and go, digital trends especially. Websites,forums, name it. I have been connected digitally in one form or another since the seventies and even ran an online BBS in 1987 and have been going flatout ever since meeting thousands of people, and losing just as many.
      Thank you for the thoughtful reply and have a great week!

    • @erikziak1249

    Ngl, I think this is Steve Cutts best work. It's not a preachy message about society and humanity being le bad, it's just about washed up cartoon celebrities who've lost their place in the world but it's presented in a way that makes it feel authentic. Has a good touch of humor too.

    • @danawestfield3900
      @danawestfield3900 8 місяців тому +8

      It's a great commentary, and the comedic touch isn't so in-your-face that it's adistracting. Lots of people find themselves like this after the high points in their career. People who were at the top of the world suddenly come back down with the realization that they're fading from the public conscious. One person that comes to mind is Buzz Aldrin, who fell into a severe depression after the Apollo mission.
      "There was no goal, no sense of calling, no project worth pouring myself into."
      It was like he realized that there wasn't anything more for him to do. He'd reached the high water mark and didn't have anything greater to look forward to.
      This sort of mirrors another of Steve's animations: In The Fall. Both are about those sort of mid-life crisis moments when you work yourself up over the choices you've made up to that point. You don't even nessecarily have to be older to have those moments, either.

    • @TimSlee1
      @TimSlee1 8 місяців тому

      I know this might be coming from a place of ignorance but i'd rather be a depressed Buzz Aldrin than where I am now.@@danawestfield3900

      I'm a little surprised at their British northern accents; I always thought they were Americans. It illustrates what a good voice coach can do. That couldn't have been the real Popeye I saw using the walker; at the age of 101, he died of lung cancer in 2002 from that nasty pipe. His wife of 75 years, Beatrice Bupenfield (aka Betty Boop), was inconsolable.
      Paul "Popeye" Popeil's (no relation to the Pocket Fisherman guy) life shifted dramatically when he was still young. He left the Navy to try his hand at acting, and it was in 1933 on the set of his debut film, the self-titled _Popeye the Sailor,_ that he met a fascinating, budding actor named Beatrice "Betty" Bupenfield. The 17-year-old Beatrice was a flirtatious, gregarious, risqué newcomer who adopted the stage name Betty Boop. Her femme fatale appearance, with exaggerated eye makeup, extremely short skirts and seamed silk stockings, was always shattered when she spoke and revealed her toddler's voice. Bupenfield was co-starring in the film as a carnival "hoochie dancer" performing a hula, and her costume portrayed as much. Her mischievous nature compelled her to make a surprise modification, and when Popeil entered the scene he was confronted with a topless Betty in a skimpy grass skirt, with nothing but a lei covering her breasts, which became displaced (the lei, not the breasts) when she hula'd too vigorously. The 33-year-old Popeye was instantly smitten, and before long, cast and crew alike began noticing that Popeye and Betty were frequently off-set at the same time. They were soon married, and despite their age difference, remained so for the next 75 years. Doctors attribute Popeye's continuing sexual ability and extremely long life to his diet of only spinach. But even with Betty's admonitions, he wouldn't give up his pipe. She told a neighbor, "Every time I tried to make him stop, he would tell me he was what he was. Whatever that means."

    Ah yes, the eventuality of a shitty marriage.
    The wife gets fat, and continues to gorge herself on food because of her depression, she realizes she's no longer the bombshell she once was because time took it away and her constant eating destroyed what was left, so she becomes even more depressed- and the cycle continues.
    The man can't stand to look at the woman he's with, because she's unrecognizable, so he becomes distant and aloof and due to his glory days being far behind him, he no longer feels like the man he once was, so he's wracked with insecurities that make him feel like less of a man. He seeks something to fill the void he has in a bottle, but eventually finds that after taking his final gulp he sees the bare bottom of an empty glass, much like how he feels inside.
    Only living a life of monotony and routine, they can't even face each other, because they're reminded of the existential dread that has gripped them.They're both trapped in their bygone years, yearning for them once again, but time left them behind- forgotten, and all they have left are pictures of who they once were.

I work in Healthcare and when people are dying or at least think they're dying the regrets start pouring out, and the number one regret is I didn't spend enough time with family. I worked to much or cared to much about pointless trival things. For example an old lady was dying, she wanted to see her son before she died but she didn't approve of who he married so they had a falling out and never talked again and it was her biggest regret.
