The hypocrisy on K being mad and hurt that Op doesn’t call him dad while hating Op is infuriating

I heard this one before. Glad op didn't give them a chance. They are absolutely irredeemable.

I hate it when family betrays their own kids

Important to note that OP supposedly lives in the Balkans region of Eastern Europe.

Okay everything makes sense now, there's nothing unusual about this story.

You almost want to believe the parents however they seem to only realize if they don't act sorry the bio kids will probably turn on them.
I'd ask the one's who are sorry to make a public apology and detail what they did but also what abuse knew about and when they knew it. Even it's way past the point of forgiveness it can still be used as closure.

Well said. OP seriously needs to go full NO CONTACT with her mother and her husband, given how %£?@ed they treated him. Not only that, he should also move to the US, apply for US citizenship, and grow his own family that consists of supportive new friends, a trustworthy therapist, and a warm-hearted girlfriend whose family are good people.

I know the music is "generic" but it's oddly soothing yet somber. Excellent choice of tunes

I have friend just the same as like you, he drop out from high school but thanks God he fulls of other talents (music and art).
When he being kick out by his step father me and my other friends help him up to live (we got base camp for hangout) we support his daily need and try find job for him.
When we all graduate from high school alot from us got separate, he decided go to Capital to find his luck while i go to college.
When Linkin Park got Consert in my country we meet again, he work with the consert promotor and he look pretty well him self, 10 years later we meet again at BALI he live there now with his wife and 2 sons, he got music studio and Tatto studio there.
Sometimes he go home to meet with his parents to show some respect and gratitude... But i don't feel any sense of REVERENCE to his parents only sense of Duty or perhaps more like Charity.

So because OP's mother cheated on someone who was not related to her family it was enough to make them go no-contact with her. That just makes me think they never loved her.

i would have given them a chance honestly, well not his extendet family, and honestly k is an asshole he knew what he was getting when he got with her, he should not have treated op like this, but the mother as well how the fuck do you cheat on the guy you have been with from 3 years, i understand why she didnt react, what could she have done if she reacted, k kicking her out and she fending alone for them both, it might sound bad but slight abuse is better than starving on the street, her family completely cutting contact however is wrong in my opinion, dont take me wrong i hate cheaters with burning passian, for me they are a human waste, but trash for one is gold for others, if that was my daughter/son i would straigh up told them the truth of what garbage they are for doing that to their partner, but i wouldnt have kicked them out to fend for themselfs, i would have made sure they learned their lesson so they dont repeat that mistake ever again, if they didnt learn their lesson then it would be my fault as well for not raising them correctly, but the baby had no fault, granted i would have asked for abortion but if she didnt do it, there is no way in hell i would be letting my grandson go through that shit, he wont be resposible for his mother/ my daughter being trash some time ago, its not his fault he was conseived, those morons could have at least used protection, i would have made sure he had a home and family he could lean on

I’m upset he listened to the commenters on Reddit and chose not to forgive them. Parents here made a massive mistake and I’d feel sad hurt and neglected too but stick around and see if they’re actually going to change. People nowadays need to have more compassion for those that make mistakes. Sad story for the poster. I hope he’s okay

While i believe people change 18 yrs is too much. As a child i was indifferent to my parents as they were to me. But later as i grew up i could see their efforts to change and now we have better relationship.

Even if they honestly didn't know about the abuse from other relatives, both parents spent years explicitly and BLATANTLY showing they considered OP a lesser member of the family.
      - You don't go on family trips and exclude the one child.
      - You don't buy extravagant gifts for all but one child.
      - You don't suddenly feel guilty enough about all of this that you seek therapy and then KEEP ON abusing the child.
      - And you especially don't - as a parent who supposedly loves said child - sit on the sidelines and let all of this happen.
OP's stepfather is a cruel, neglectful pos whose 17+ years of indifference-to-cruelty towards OP isn't washed away with a bit of a cry and a hug. And OP's mother is just as nasty for actively contributing to an environment where her eldest child was made to feel like an outsider in their own home.
If OP looked at all that and understood that their 'parents' stole their childhood and never truly loved them; right on!
