honestly?, i think she thought in a sick & twisted way that, she could force him to mend his relationship with his mom so she could maintain her "perfect" family illusion, thereby strengthening their relationship, and by mending their relationship, that he would feel indebted to her and put her on a pedestal or some sick shit
Had a girlfriend say that to me when I broke up. After she said that I called her mother and told he what she said. I told her that she has bigger mental problems than a break up. Afterwards I told my Ex I can call the hospital now or you can leave. She left.
My ex had to go through that with his friend who raped me. He had no idea how to deal with it and it was hard to see him be put through that for his former best friend taking advantage of what a kind person he was (also we broke up mutually for college and we still keep in touch to this day) people who use suicide as a crutch disgust me especially because I have survived a suicide attempt. I know the stuff that can drive someone to end their life and saying you'll do it just because your best friend wants to protect his girlfriend is disturbing.
YES. As someone who gets suicidal ideation, and did quite heavily before my relationship ended, I never used that as a bargaining chip. I know a couple where the gf does that regularly and it’s so disturbing, because I take that shit seriously. The best thing is call in the support systems, possibly parents and police. A person using this to manipulate you could do anything by holding that over your head. Do not chose to continually deal with that! It’s not your responsibility.

This reminds me of 11 years ago when my uncle and aunt got married. I remember my nan saying back then to my now aunt that if my uncles father (my grandfather) ever showed his face at the wedding that my uncle would walk out and never talk to her again. Out of respect for my uncle I won't share why his relationship with his father was so bad but my nan pretty much divorced him on the spot once she knew what was going on between the two. Makes me grateful that I grew up with no father (my sister and I are IVF kids from our single mum) rather than the father my uncle had to grow up with. My uncle now has a kid of his own with my aunt and is a great dad who I someday aspire to be like too.
Well I'm glad that your mother even though single could take of you without no need for a man, your probably one of the few kids that will grow up into a mature adult that got raised in a single parent home, and didn't go the entitled/ violent route, like some other kids did.
As someone who's been in a similar situation I can definitely understand the feelings towards the mother and her family, mines towards my father. When he died all I felt was anger, frustration, fear, stress and every negative emotion I held in over the years. I'd abandon anyone trying to force me to have anything to do with anyone on that side of the family. Op and her brothers and father had a hard life and I hope they never have to see her again.

When I tell people that my father was abusive, everyone tries to tell me I am overreacting and all parents hit their kids.
