Just now ordered 2 snares. I have several others that I use here in Newport. But I wanted to support you and your channel. They look really well built. Excited!
welcome to Oregon, I am from Kalamazoo Michigan. I moved to Beaverton and 08 and I’ve lived in Garibaldi since 2019 next time you’re at the crabbing dock here we should get in touch and I can clue you in on a few things. .
@juliemanarin4127 there are salmon, steelhead, and perch in Lake Michigan, but it definitely is no where near as plentiful as the bounty of the ocean. Definitely loving the change.
How’s it going? Great video. I do t know how I missed so many I have notifications on. But going back watch all of them. Congrats on the 1k holy crap it drew. I remember I subbed at the begining
Thanks for hanging with us! UA-cam has been having issues with its algorithm, a lot of the creators have been talking about it. Great to hear from you!
@@TruaxOutdoors ahh I see I was just on here and was like I haven’t seen anything from truax when I looked at your channel there was a bunch I didn’t see
I am a beginner . What kind of rod and reel that you used for crabing please ? and how many pound lines that you used . So I can search and by same as you have . Thanks
Billy uses an Okuma Crab Snare Special rod, along with a large reel from Cabelas, can't remember the brand. And we use 80lbs test braid. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching! Also we have other videos that explain a lot more!
OK, so, I’m a little bit confused. It’s my understanding that each person is permitted to deploy three devices. Whether that’s a Danielson crab trap or a simple crab ring or a snare. How can you have six devices fishing at one time and still be within compliance of the law? Unless you’re on a commercial license, of course. This is definitely a slick, very well organized set up. I’m so impressed. I’m going to purchase a couple of your traps for sure.
@@TruaxOutdoors Yes, eventually. But you can’t have more than three devices fishing unless the second person is present. If in fact you staged your arrival to make it look like you were just getting there, but all the while you were participating beforehand with your three devices, then you are good. But I’m telling you, if a state trooper walked up on six devices in the water without a second person actually present, it would not go well. I speak from a very well informed background. I just don’t want to see you guys get into any hot water. Only the crabs.
@jacobaccurso ahh I see, yeah you hit the nail on the head with the walk up got to love editing. I appreciate you caring bro and thanks for the advice.
When I was a child that is all we used a rock in the bottom tie a knot, add hamburger, tie a knot then tie it off to a fishing pole. Dungees will get their pinchers into the nylons and they can’t let go. So just put the bait in a nylon stocking and it will probably increase your chances. We used to catch about 4 crabs to one against the store bought models.
@@TruaxOutdoors Oh lord 🤣thanks broski ,I’ll find it.Ive never tried crabbing that way.Only been on those 14 foot boats you rent. And off the dock at Kelly
@totophandhamaly9944 no problems, I don't disclose other people's spots without permission. However I'll be heading out there tomorrow to film. First time without Billy, it'll feel weird. Hopefully I'll catch another limit. Thanks for watching bro!
@@TruaxOutdoors nah but I’ll feel better after saying that a transplant coming from Michigan poking fun at a transplant coming from California is extremely rich.
That's an interesting thought, I suppose if you really like rubber do you... As far as the bands, couldn't taste any rubber at all. Was just wonderful tasting crabs.
Awesome video…thanks for sharing! Billy is a great guy. He’s my bike mechanic and one of the most resourceful people I’ve ever met. Cheers!
It was a pleasure for sure! Planning on making a couple more videos together down the road, I am very thankful for his friendship!
Billy and his wife introduced us to snaring...quality product and really great people
Lucky to have met him!

Totally agree! Our next epolisode will feature him too! If you havent already, please subscribe so you don't miss out!
Beautiful haul!
Thanks, just filmed another one with the Beach Bandit, should come out in 2 weeks! thanks for watching!
Small tip. Use triangle weights instead of the cannonballs. They dig in better and will help hold your trap more than just using heavy weight.
I appreciate that. Thanks for watching!
Good show. Cheers from Colorado.

There was two of us, we had three devices per person.

I'm new to crabbing. What bait did you use? Was it squid? Thanks!
Mostly shad caught earlier that year, we also used Catfish nuggets that I bought at safeway. Cheap and effective!
@@TruaxOutdoors thank you!
Your male to female ratio seemed excellent!lol
Keep in mind, editing, we through A LOT back!
A forked like a sling shot branch some string is all you need wading pokethem they grab you lift and bag lol did it as a child in birch bay Washington
Sounds like fun, I'll have to give it a try some time. Thanks for watching!
Nice catch, take care of your arm...
Thanks bro, it was a lot of fun. My arm got better about a day after. That being said I need to figure out how to make that stop happening!
Where is this located? What part of the oregon coast .please and thanks
What’s the rod and reel set up
Okuma crab snare special, cabelas reel, not sure the brand, and I think Blilly said 60lb test braid. Thanks for watching!
Is that the ocean or the bay?
The bay, I think, still learning ask the differences, thanks for watching!
Add a nylon stocking and watch how many more you retain!

Rubber banding the claws might be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen somebody do when crabbing.
Hope you feel better now 😆, thanks for watching. Have a wonderful day!

if you are going to cook them with the bands on them why not just throw a chunk of rubber in the pot

That's so funny, my first time out crabbing at garibaldi I saw him and we talked for a little bit. Cool dude.
