For everyone saying that Film Theory already covered this topic, I know! I literally address that in the video. This video offers some other points of view. Thanks! ✌️

Springfield is a teleporting city that goes to every other common city that’s name Springfield and temporary takes its place till it moves onto the next one that’s my theory!
My personal theory is that Springfield _is_ in a specific state, but _which_ state it is varies from episode to episode depending on the needs of the plot.
I think every state is correct and those different Springfields are from other dimensions which is why the Simpsons don't age, because we see different dimensions.

its not accurate. Watch Season 24, episode 17. Timestamp 5 08 SPringfield zooms out showing the whole US, and springfields location. Looks like in this episode it is between Springfield, IL or Peoria, IL
Imagine if there's 4 springfields meaning there's multiple familys thats why they act so different and perhaps why they never grow up. Also there is technically 3 springfields from when homer becomes sanitation commissioner and springfield moves 5 miles down the road. And also when the simpsons move to the out lands and build a new springfield. I think it's safe to say there is at least 3 springfields.
another masterpiece lydia. i knew i am right to like all these videos before they even begin. "The true location of Springfield is any state but yours" is the perfect way to address it all. Anywhere and Nowhere.
When homer says he's planning a trip to st louis, the travel agent asks if it's east st louis. He answers "is there any other st louis?" East St. Louis is very small town illinois across the from river from St Louis Missouri.
I really think the 3rd idea, Plan B, is the most accurate. There are loads of places by the Simpsons' house after a few episodes. I also loved your Treehouse of Horror Kill Count and now I'm thinking of how many times Bart has been strangled from Series 1-32.
Of course the state capital is Capitol City (which featured way more in early episodes I'm sure) As there is no such place, I think the North Tacoma thing is true. It's a fictional place but possibly in the Pacific Northwest and bordering desert states like Nevada.
I like the idea that it’s just completely fictional representing a variety of the US, although your theory that they move around does also make a lot of sense!
We all know where Springfield is. Springfield is located in all of our hearts. Springfield is a state of mind. I've been to Springfield Illinois and had a great time. That town is very small. My friend asked me if I wanted to go with him to pick somebody up on the other side of town and just take the ride. When we got off the highway in about five minutes I asked why are we getting off so fast, are you almost out of gas? I couldn't stop laughing when he told me we are here. I said I thought you told me we were going to the other side of town. I told him you could've said something different than the other side of town, that was misleading. But he did say the other side of town not the other side of the city. I'm pretty sure the Springfield the Simpsons live in is much bigger than Springfield Illinois, it would not fit in such a small town. My neighborhood is bigger than Springfield Illinois, with way more people living here. I could never live someplace as small as Springfield Illinois. You can hear a pin drop. I would never fall asleep. I am too used to hearing sounds of the city like Sirens and helicopters all the time. Great video today Lydia! You answered all of our questions that we have been dying to know the true facts of four years, LOL. What the hell am I saying you didn't actually answer anything, LOL. A riddle and a mystery wrapped in an Enigma.ahoy Springfieldians!
There was one fact that was missed. In the U.S.A., there are K and W radios. The eastern states use W, and western use K. Illinois is in the east, and Oregon is in the west. Springfield's radio station is KBBL which starts with a K.

@@jacobkehle1 Hey Jacob, Behind The Laughter was a non-canon meta episode that is not part of the main continuity. They also mention Kentucky in the movie :)
I still think Springfield of the simpsons is Springfield Missouri. The map layout of the city mirrors Springfield MO. Several references to Branson MO being a in universe location. Bart gets a driver's license, Grandpa and bart hitchhiking, the sister city Bronson MO being next to Branson. Nelson's familiarity of Andy Williams song set. Something that is both accessible to Missouri PBS and in concert. The in joke about the Missouri Missoura state line. You have to be familiar with both pronunciation of Missouri and it's a state in joke. One of the writers who appeared on cake wars gave the contestants the hint of two locations, Illinois and Missouri.
Just wanted to say that it's not only in the movie where their backyard leads out to forest / nature. For example in the episode in season 16 (yep I had to google the name) it leads to nature / foresty area and there is even a river.

You should do a video called “the amount of crimes Homer Simpson committed”
I did something a little similar called The Dark Side of Homer Simpson 🙂
@@TheSimpsonsTheory well it would be a good video idea

Here's a quick link to the video.
Great video, MatPat over on FilmTheory did a video like this a few years ago :)
I love this episode and the your channel is awesome. ❤️💕❤️
Just wanted to say that it's not only in the movie where their backyard leads out to forest / nature. For example in the episode in season 16 (yep I had to google the name) it leads to nature / foresty area and there is even a river.
