Congrats on your new fence. I received my instructions via email the other day. Also, I have confirmation my new fence has been shipped. I can’t wait to install. Thanks for sharing the unboxing and installation. It seems easy and straight forward.😮😮😮
I wish they would have sent me instructions 😂😅 You will love it. I have been using it a good bit and trying to get some footage so I can do a good review after some use.
Hello, I just received my Big Eye yesterday. I got the Harvey 36P just before Christmas, and haven't used it except for 1 test cut. Anyhow I too did not find any instruction for the fence include, but I did find them on line and went ahead and printed the 28 pages just before watching this video. I'm not sure how to do videos and stuff, but I do appreciate the time you took, thank you, it will definitely help.
I am glad it was of some help. I will be doing a review on it soon and I will explain a couple of things I didn't know when I made this video as far as set up
I would love to see a follow up on this fence system. I have a saw stop and the fence is pretty decent. The Harvey fence using linear rails and bearings is truly the future. I went and refreshed my memory on the Harvey website and they do indeed promote what looks like a dial for fine adjustments. My solution for micro adjustment is the Woodpecker flip stop system. I use the brass screw stops to move the fence . I like how Harvey included flip stops they are a nice quality of life feature for sure. So I will end my ramblings lol and I look forward to hopefully seeing an update on the fence.
I will be doing a little more in depth review of it soon. I have been using it and have got some footage so far. I just want to be able to speak to actual use before putting it out.
The rod goes at the end of the two rails. it supports the ends where the opening is. That is what the two bolts that had no nuts and washers were for. The small L shape brackets are for the dust collection arm. The t track style bar is for saws that are not drilled already on the back of the cast iron table, if you can't get the nuts and washers on (non harvey saws). The directions are on their website under support. I put mine on my saw stop last week and had to find them on my own.
Just got mine and you are right, it is for saws without extra right panel. great saw, well made but instructions were not included and online was vague. still very happy with purchase. Hope you are as well! thanks for clarifying
I unboxed mine yesterday. No tools or mounting hardware were included, but the tape was already installed. Didn't get an extra one like you did. My fence is going on an old Jet, cabinet saw, and being the weekend, I'll have to wait till Monday to find out what to do next. And also, no instructions. Hopefully, the online manual will guide me once they send me at least the mounting hardware. Not happy!
That stinks. Yeah the online manual will walk you through it. I know it sucks to have to wait but if you will reach out to them they will send everything you are missing no questions asked. You should have gotten everything I did.
That micro-adjust wheel is definitely different from what Harvey has on their website. I'd like to add 1 of these to my SawStop, but maybe after they make a revision and work out the bugs. Sort of like how you don't buy the first model year of a new vehicle. Overall.. good video. Thanks
Hi! Thanks so much for the video! I've been thinking about purchasing the fence and noticed that it's on sale today (part of a 24 hour flask sale) and was wondering what your general thoughts were now after a little bit of use. Thanks!
Dang! At that price-point, directions should be color printed on the glossy paper in a spiral bound portfolio. Especially if they’re wasting money by sending wrenches. If you’re buying that fence- you already have a wrench 🤦♂️. Impressive addition to the saw. But highly disappointed in the shipping, comment they gave you when inquiring, and the fact that you just have to “figure it out”.
They did try and call me today and I missed the call. It really was not hard at all to figure out. Other than the parts I had no idea where they went lol
The lit bar you had that you put for mounting behind the rails I think it gos on top of fence to mount stuff like the JessEm roller support I think it looks like still haven’t got mine in but thanks for the vid
The Woodtalk podcast (Marc, Shannon, and Matt) just discussed these issues this week about Harvey. They generally liked the products but felt the documentation sucked. They need to learn from what Sawstop does. They are the gold standard.
The fine adjustment is definetely dissappointing and his its limitations based on design since its relying on friction to turn the bearing. Unfortunately, to get a true fine adjustment requires using a ballnscrew design like the icra system. But that comes with its own drawbacks with taking up alot of space

Lol. Yeah I finally got some instructions 🤣 They are great though and have been good to my channel.

Thanks for this. Just finished installing mine. Luckily it came with really good instructions.
What did you do with the old fence and rails?
You are most welcome. They are leaning up against the wall in another small building I have.

The rod goes on the far right if you don't have additional table pieces. I have a router table on the far right, so I didn't need the rod.
Thanks for that Tim. I hope you are liking yours as well. I'm gonna use it for a bit and then do a full review on it. Very happy so far.

@@andyp9290 I like it more and more every use. I did carbon coat on it at the same time, so I'm double happy lol

@@stlwoodworking Finally received an email that Harvey is sending me all the missing parts. Hoping they come quickly.
This is the tablesaw that i want
It has served me very well.

Yeah. overall I love the fence but I do wish they would change that dial.
I just saw you at Wing Stop with your family having a bite to eat. Didn't want to bother you Happy New Year to you and your family.
Nope wasn't me. I have been at home trying to organize this crazy shop and office. Happy New Year to you as well :)
Sorry he look just like you.

Oh, I see you have a review of it, lol. SOrry about that...I'll go watch that one!
No worries. Yeah, I wanted to get some time using it before talking about it.

Thanks. No it's not long enough. Someone said it is for use with other saws.
Oh ok
The round bar goes between the rails on the right side to keep then sprade apart when the fence is locked at that end
Thank you. I'll get mine put on tomorrow lol

I missed that podcast. I'm looking for them to come out with an updated version.

I agree. But if I am being honest, i still "tap" the fence LOL
