      Apparently the entire Overcoat war in H division started because the screws armed up the local crazy person in the wing (Chopper) and mad him go after the Dockers who hated the screws and governor. The system used Chopper as a tool to fight against other criminals and later the Melbourne police use him the same way when he was on the streets. He was such an important informant and pasty for the police that they even gave him a bullet proof vest to protect himself (which Chopper was wearing on the night he shot the Turk). Chopper talks like hes his own man but he was just a government bootlicker and a yes man.

The fucking tumour he had was a monster! He shows it off in the last interview 16 days before he died. My livers fucked through heavy drink everyday for the past 27 years. Nearly killed me 2 years ago so I stopped drinking for 5 months then back on it everyday since! I'll be out of here soon. My body is getting its revenge on me & its called a mutiny! Im fucking falling apart at age 43. Lost a few uncles to booze too. The booze will kill you faster than anything. I wonder if his drinking played a part as drank a lot but he was in jail a fucking lot so wasn't drinking then. Aussies fucking love a bevvy though. Aussies are sound. Or are Texans the Australians of the other side of the world.
      In reality, aside from being "big" and "frontier", Australians and Texans are very very different. Not least in their politics, in Australia there is wide support for strict gun laws (and we haven't had a mass shooting since we changed them in 1996).
      Australians support universal healthcare, guaranteed pension contributions, guaranteed 20 days of paid leave each year. In other words Australians support political and economic system that is much more like Europe.

    There was a caller on a aussie radio show recently (topic of the show was called confessions) that had a great yarn about chop. She was next door neighbour to him for a number of years, and said she never felt safer with him around. One night she was on the front verandah and he was out the front having a smoke, he asked how she was and she said yeah good just hoping I can get some sleep tonight (there was a party down the street) he nodded at her, and she said good night and went back inside. She then saw chopper walking down the road with a cricket bat. The party/noise stopped soon after and he walked back and gave her another nod as she came outside and said good night, sleep well. She said for years, anytime there was a party on the street it was shut down after she got home. Even parties she was going too haha. Her friends said to her it's strange he comes every time after you leave, she denied having anything to do with it for a long time and felt bad for her friends that she never told them but admitted she loved having someone look out for her like that. He is a walking duality this man, but something about him you gotta love.

      They are ( were in Chopper's case ) both Aussies so there was no accent to learn, but yes, Eric was amazing at Imitating Chopper's voice and mannerisms. There's no way any other actor would have been able to play this role so perfectly.

    Who's watching in 2018 after Aaron Jeffrey's disgraceful portrayal? Worst casting in the history of television.
    Eric Bana nailed it in 2000 and it should have been left there.

      tHe MeNu absolutely. I couldn’t believe how much he butchered the role.

    • @James-nj4pc
      @James-nj4pc 6 років тому +18

      He missed the mark by trying to add ‘a’ infront of random sentences. Like ‘I didn’t a-do it’.
      Banner did that too - SPARINGLY, where it made sense and it sounded right.

    “I’m just asking for 10,000 of the 60 you got on Sunday!” Chopper has become one of my favorite people to ever be alive. I wish I could’ve known about him earlier but I was barely wiping my own ass when he passed. I just turned 18 today and I’ve decided to get Choppers iconic ‘King Kong’ tattoo as a way to remember and honor Uncle Chop Chop and all he fuckin did.
