Growing up two of my favorite mangers were Gary Hart and Skandor Akbar. I know they started out as wrestlers but remember them more of their managerial skills.
Skandor was great and came to the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO all the time. He was famous for using a Bic lighter - he would hold down the tab and let gas escape then light the lighter and it would make a small fire ball. He used this to 'burn' guy's faces and they'd show up next week all bandaged up. I think they outlawed the Bic lighter fire balls after his run. He had a good run with Mr. Pogo, Mike George and Porkchop Cash. In the late 70's early 80's I saw Lou Thesz get into it with Mike George - who was in Skandor's 'stable' at the time. The two wrestled at the Shrine Mosque. Lou Thesz must have ben in his 60's but still moved well. He had that kangaroo kck off the ropes in his younger days. Great times.

Allegedly, he could bench 500lbs. I mean he's no Bruno Sammartino in the gym, but he was impressive.
Drew a ton of heat
Ted Debusey as the General would say.
