  • Today, Mark is giving you the details on what airlines are planning regular service to the new Tulum airport and from what hubs. Plus, this airport has a stop for the new Mayan Train!
    Opening day for Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO), aka Tulum International Airport is Friday, 1 Dec 2023, initially with only domestic flight service within Mexico. International flight service will follow in early 2024.
    This will greatly reduce congestion at the Cancun airport and make travel to points south of Playa del Carmen much easier. Are you ready for it?
    ✈️ 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄:
    A viewer has brought to our attention that there is ONE MORE domestic airline that will be servicing this new airport: Sometime in December, there will be also flights from the new flagship airline, Mexicana de Aviación. This is a state-owned airline, run by the Mexican Army. The goal of Mexicana de Aviación is to boost tourism by creating more affordable options for those who previously could not afford commercial air service. The primary hub will be from Felipe Angeles International Airport which serves Mexico City with Tulum as the secondary hub. See more here: riviera-maya-n...

      It is obvious that either yo don’t know what you are talking about, or that you are just looking for views and likes. This government is one of the worst if not the worst that MEXICO has had, This airport is nothing compared with the NAICM that López Canceled without any justification. That airport would have represented a huge opportunity to project MEXICO as a regional hub. This president has allowed more corruption in public infrastructure than any other befare, giving projects too companies just created of friends and arma officials, without public bids and protecting the information from public scrutiny.

    This new airport was a much needed improvement for travel. I flew into Cancun in March 2023, and the baggage delivery was horrendous. I counted flights landing at Cancun every 5 minutes. That airport was filled to the brim with no where else to grow. There will be growing pains and I can only hope as a dual American/Mexican citizen, that these improvements will continue. It seems growth of infrastructure in Mexico is certainly dependent on who is president.

    • @GringosRUs

      We endured that mayhem that is the Cancun Airport almost three years ago and it was brutal. This was a much needed addition to the tourism industry in Quintana Roo. Hopefully the momentum that has helped Mexico to so aggressively grow will be continued no matter who is in office. It is great for the country as a whole and benefits so many.

      @@vibinspot5792 that forever mentality is what has many countries stuck in institutional corruption. America is a prime example. Mexicos biggest issue is the narcopolitico. This is a generational corruption spread out over the last 3 generations. Term limits helps limit these individuals from staying in the “forever” positions you so much desire.

      @@GringosRUs I hope it is for the better, the last time I was in Tulum I was not that impressed. It´s cute that immigrants from the USA don´t call themselves immigrants and use this expat title.. You are all still immigrants, and mostly living here without residency permit. Not sure Jorge. I know that some of the airlines will be expanding their roster of flights as the spring progresses. United will be adding LAX and I am sure that the other carriers will be jumping on board with this fairly quickly as they all need to help alleviate the congestion at Cancun Airport. It is a great thing for the whole state of Quintana Roo and all of Mexico.

    Would love to hear of updates since airport opened & info regarding the Mayan Train from Tulum to Puerto Morelos. Fellow traveler from Nebraska (just across the river from South Dakota)! Coming down late April flying into Tulum & wanted to experience the train.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  6 місяців тому +1

      There are a lot of us that have wanted to experience the Maya Train experience, however, due to delays, it will not be opening anytime soon as section 5 South, which runs from Tulum to Playa del Carmen, has been stopped for the foreseeable future. A Federal judge imposed an injunction on that section, demanding more studies be done to the environment and the water supply in that area. The other problem is that the trains are not large and the section open from Playa del Carmen to Cancun is only capable of transporting 211 passengers per trip and there are only 3 trips a day in both directions. We just released another video on Friday regarding the ground transportation options from the Tulum Airport and their associated costs. Thanks Debra!

    When you say Americans you referring to all American from the American continent. If you say North American then you referring to Mexico ,Canada and The United States . I am not Against any blond people i am a Native American but it is not correct referring one country as America because with all respect America is the Continent

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  10 місяців тому

      You are correct, and we do try to change that habit of referring to the US as America. It is what has been programmed into us for decades. It's like Mexican's referring to their home as Mexico, when that is in fact not the name. To us, it is a shortcut to the name of our country in the same manner that this country is called Mexico, but we do understand that the Americas (both north and south) encompass many countries and people who legitimately refer to themselves as being American, though usually, they refer to themselves as being someone of the country in which they reside rather than a continent. We have been striving to replace America with the US or the states, but sometimes, we slip up. Thank you for your respectful comment. We hope that you stick around and become a part of our community.

    • @GringosRUs
      @GringosRUs  10 місяців тому +5

      According to INM, we are temporary residents, and an expat is someone who resides in a foreign land temporarily, intending to return to their home country. Snowbirds are technically expats, for example.
      An immigrant moves to a foreign land permanently with no intention of returning home. If we are granted permanent residency by INM, we will become immigrants.
      It honestly does not matter to us what people want to call us. If you prefer immigrants, that is ok. For what it's worth, we love Mexico and are having a wonderful time learning about the history and culture of this beautiful country. It saddens us that the US never teaches about Mexico's history, so we are learning a lot, and we love it.
      We can't answer the question about Mexicans being called immigrants in the US, because WE personally don't use that to describe Mexicans. Since a lot of Mexicans travel to the US to work, then come back to Mexico, that makes them expats by definition, so if someone is calling them an immigrant, they are wrong.
      I think it's always been that way in the US. My family were also called immigrants. They were Belgian and Italian and stayed in the US, so technically, they WERE immigrants because they resided in the US permanently with no intention of returning home.
      Thank you for your comment. We mean no disrespect. We are using the terms by definition.

      @oliviaortiz5157. What do Mexicans in the US normally call each other? They don't themselves immigrants that's for sure.
