I've seen a few of these videos of Colbert appearing in TV interviews and this is the first time the presenter sitting opposite him actually gets his satirical approach and doesn't get all butthurt over what he says. Calling him a fictional character was a low blow though.
It's fairly easy to notice that both Colbert and Stewart are liberal. It doesn't seem like Stewart is "extreme" liberal from the fact that he makes more fun of conservatives, it's just that they're easier to make fun of. Like Fox news for example, with the stuff they say, they're practically in a league of their own. In the same way Stewart just puts it out there, Colbert is easy to tell that he is liberal from his sarcasm and conservative like personna.
yeah he says if you held a gun to his head he would say hes a liberal, but hes also a sunday school teaching catholic....theres gotta be at least a bit of conservatism in this man. He said in an interview that people might be surprised at how much his character on the air and the actual person share. This is why hes so much more popular than john stewart who is an extreme liberal and doesnt attempt to hide it. Whenwatching stephens show, its all about what you want to see....

They left me a candle, wrote on my posters that I was a "bolshevik for demoralizing youth". They're not mutually exclusive. That's what makes it so hilarious. His disingenuous is intentional when he's in character. That's what makes it so hilarious. It's written in a way where if what he was saying was genuine, it would be ridiculous. But because he doesn't mean it, it's hilarious. Some of his extended family members actually believed his character was real when he'd go back to Charleston when the show was on.
i'm kinda confused about all this. stephen was a democrat, and now he's a republican, is it an honest change of heart or a syntheziser for his satiric character?
