      Why is it that the English-speaking world needs an interpreter to understand the words of a native Englishman? It's absurd! If you're born in England, there's no reason not to speak proper English.

      MCShvabo This is kinda fun: a big point of the brexit was the immigration. Now when you think about immigration these days you think about muslim BUT for many british the problem are the polish because there are A LOT of polish that live in the UK so they think "polish are stealing our jobs".
      You may think i'm joking but that's what you see on the internet these days, it's pretty crazy.

      Antonia Grobbel "The thing is no one has a clue if it'll be fine or they'll go down" The day after they're out of Europe it will be bad for their economy. That's for sure, then it will probably follow a crisis. Then who knows, I assume (and hope, for those assholes) it will just be worse for them, but no one knows

      It will be funny to see people loose their jobs as well due to a major change in trade, I guess. If I'm a UK based business who has a majority of customers in continental Europe and if the trade deals change (which they will) I will be moving majority of my company to EU since it is a bigger market and easier to do business... Additionally the EU governments would add tax breaks on top of me moving...

    Trevor doesn't need to be in the UK to know the situation there - that's a stupid statement people make most of the time. Everything Trevor said is right. Now the UK wants to negotiate for access to the single market with the EU but not the free movement (which is not gonna happen anyways) so let me ask you, why do you desperately need the single market n not the people? It's cos the UK has benefitted from the EU. The bureaucracy of Brussels is just an excuse as the average person doesn't even care about what goes on there. To me it was mostly Xenophobia.

      That was the promise the Leave camp made, "They need us more than we need them", I can still hear Farage say it. The response came from Juncker and Tusk; No way No how. The response from May was that they were going to leave the European Community as well, which is hilarious because that is a completely different organization(human rights, election monitoring etc.)

Now, the courts are ruling and hearing cases based on the fraudulent nature of the university, and the woman's history, whether true or not, is almost completely irrelevant. The case has nothing to do with any one person, its about Trump University and their own policies. So.. nice deflection.

      You can not vote for something that would violate fundamental laws like killing a whole ethnicity.
      The point of people beeing to dumb to vote would also account for representive democracy. Hitler was democratically voted for as an example.
      So if you think masses are manipulated too easily and uneducated to directly vote then you would have to go back to monarchy/despotism.

    • @thatgermanview5721
      @thatgermanview5721 8 років тому

      ***** Direct Democracy is not opposing a constitution. And a party based democrazy is not preventing any of your points. If there is a party promising the people to confiscate all dem moneys and the party gets voted for with >50% they can do just that, same goes for sth like a brexit or a king (see hitler again :3)

    • @tomr719
      @tomr719 8 років тому

      Sorry but your view is shared by exactly 0% of philosophers.. or political scientists... or politicians. Plato even said democracy is the worst form of government.
      Do you realize then that every citizen would have to vote on every single decision the government made? Have to hire every employee, approve every expense, legislate every law, all by popular vote. Do you know how impossible that is in any human group bigger than like 100 people? How many people do you think have time to go and vote directly multiple times a day and week on every government decision, most of which they have no knowledge of or expertise in whats being decided? It would basically be ruling by retired people, people with no jobs and random people who would spend every day in a voting booth. Direct democracy is absolutely, objectively impossible and frankly a dumb idea in any modern society. Thats why no one past the 7th grade has ever proposed any country in the world do that.

    I voted out... I did my research and even with the possible 'geopolitical and economic repercussions' viewed that leaving was the better option. Yes, the power of the pound dropped... by around 13cents, of which its currently rising to remeet. As for the stock market the drop was expected; as speculative earning always shudders at change. However, those markets are rebounding pretty quickly. In honesty, I was expecting a worse economic shock.
    For a lot of us, this decision wasn't about money or immigration. It was about a Trading Union (the EU) which has been slowly garnering more political power and stopping countries from making political decisions for themselves.
    Globally, the UK still holds alot of power, even outside of the EU. We still hold seats in both the Nato and The Security Council.
    The Brexit just means we have the right and the ability as an independant country to make and inforce our own laws again.

    • @Dubbermon
      @Dubbermon 8 років тому +3

      I don't see how. If Britain makes light-bulbs and France makes light switches then they will trade with one and other. Politics has very little to do with trade deals because they are based solely around consumerism, which fuels economies. How many items do you own which have "MADE IN CHINA" written on them, even though we all know just how shocking they're human rights violations are. You want to bet that if North Korea or some lunatic regime had goods and services people want, that trade deals wouldn't be struck up?
      Any trade deals made in the negotiations will have to benefit to all countries. Given the fact that the UK is one of the worlds biggest economies and has always been in credit with the EU, i.e. putting more into it than it takes out - i don't think it's much cause for concern right now. Also over the past few years British exports and imports have been increasing around the world, where as in the EU they've been falling. In 2000 60% of UK exports went to other members of the EU, where as in 2015 its was 47%. So a majority of our exports (and other service sectors) was done with other countries and continents - mostly America - which means that the UK's main markets are not in the EU and now the UK is free to open up trade talks with those countries to give and get better tariffs and trade deals - opening up the market and making it more competitive. Why are countries going to be buying BMW's from Germany, when they can get a Jaguar from the UK which comes with better import tariffs?

    • @bigbro890
      @bigbro890 8 років тому +6

      ***** EU simply can't give you an easy deal, because then more countries would like to get out and keep their trading benefits. I have never heard any real expert (different from internet expert) say that brexit will make Britain stronger, its actually the opposite.

      Charlatans have taken this real frustration and used it to blame the problems on paper targets, in order to gain power. Most of the arguments for Brexit were fabrications and lies. There are real problems with the EU, but thinking leaving would solve anything is absurd.

      - Nonsense. They said the same thing when the UK refused to join the Euro. Britain has the 5th largest economy in the world and only a small part of it is exports to the EU. Even if this trade was disrupted (which is very unlikely since the UK runs a trade deficit with the EU) it will not be a significant blow to the UK and can be easily made up with trade to commonwealth and other countries which will be increased because they are not prohibited from doing so by the EU. The truth is that UK was a market for EU goods and to cut off trade would be much more hurtful for the EU than for the UK. Just look at the stock markets. Every country in europe went down more than the UK.

    I think the Brexit demonstrates that the world is more connected than we realize. Everyone is a stake holder in everyone else's success. We've seen past economic, environmental and warfare issues change the landscape drastically. I think people should learn about each other more and about the past mistakes. A problem in one area can have the solution in the other. The UK is jeopardizing the future of the Europe yet again. The other time this happened was in the 1938 Munich Agreement. #happytogether

      ***** do you realize that they mutually benefit by being together? lets say country #1 has 200k troops and country #2 has 100k troops. They do business together often. Ore comes out of country 2 to build country 1. But lets say country 3 has 150k troops and wants to take over country 2 . Then 1 will suffer since 3 will likely use it for itself. Since country 1 & 2 have a good relationship they want to make it more safe by being a partnership. They can further make trade easier if under one currency. If 1 invests in 2's infrastructure it will gain more security and a faster way to ship the ore that it's country needs. You may ask why not 1 invade 2 because war costs more. The people would riot that they want their soldiers home. Then people in occupied 2 may not want to dig ore and go on strike.
      So the EU is actually a mutually made union that mutually benefits it's members in safety and trade. In a way it's like the USA of Europe.

      They aren't giving troops at all its a very firm alliance where the two are tied together. The UN isn't the best equipped since they get older technology. Additionally their main goal is peace keeping not to wage war. www.un.org/en/peacekeeping/images/PKD_Infographic_web.jpg
      Currency can be a big issue though, That's the strength. If the EU falls try to operate a business with 27 other countries and having a exchange fee on top of it for each transaction. Its cheaper and easier. Thinking about this un-electable Bureaucracy it is kinda a mixed bag. If a leader is really horrible the EU could control them via funding. I personally think that it acts like a independent party with minimal personal attachment. Which in the US system is a very important thing to have because sometimes things that can benefit the citizens aren't done due to party differences. I never seen this EU bureaucracy yet so i don't have a detailed idea on how it works. Are these people always Belgians?

      The UN wasn't there when Putin was in Ukraine so it's not a full guarantee. Putin even said it wasn't his troops, if I remember right. Looking at that I do have a lot of doubt they would assist these smaller countries if the EU broke up further.
      I mean they could do that if they want but the public wont like it. Some countries don't like the US air force bases on their soil. Besides morale is probably better when you are stationed in the country you are serving for. So it would be idiotic to put Greek troops in France. The EU is much more democratic in my opinion. I like how the UK elections are done. I know NATO could go away if Trump gets in and gets his way. In combination of the Brexit it could lead to a similar political situation in the 1930's where everyone wanted to be on their own. Which isn't the way we should be going.

      The only city boy fucking fishermen was Farage. He's the one who was in control of fishing quotas, he set them low for the purpose of impoverishing the working class so he could then lay blame broadly on the EU and the foreigners while he was the one who engineered their situation, counting on them not being politically savvy.

    • @Grort
      @Grort 7 років тому +1

      I could point out, having lived in a fishing village, the reason the fishermen (and fishermen were the largest group to support Brexit in Scotland) often voted leave was because fishing grounds are shared between all the EU members, but mostly because they loathe the fishing caps and rules in place which are very stringent (despite these rules ensuring that they will have a job in the future, by not almost killing our fishing grounds, which like we almost/did do to our herring grounds). It was also the fishermen not recognising that most of their market has been historically and continues to be in other European nations, such as Germany and the Baltics. Also, resentment that companies from Spain and the Netherlands would send boats up to the North Sea trawling, competing directly with them. But beyond that, they really didn't consider much: I know, I talked to a lot of them. And a few were just outright xenophobes and racists, but they were thankfully a minority. Add into that the belief of some that fishing would become a devolved power to the Scottish Parliament if Brexit happened (incorrect, seeing as it will be a token used by the government to try and secure deals that protect much larger British industries in negotiations) and you get a very mixed up, narrow POV from the fisherman vote, or at least that is what I observed.

    Fun fact:
    There are around 11 million people in the UK over the age of 65. 83% of which turned up to vote making up almost 9 million 65+ voters. Now statistics suggest that around 70% of these voters voted to leave the EU. that makes up 6.3 million voters, now by subtracting the 30% of 65+ voters who voted in, being around 2.7 million we get a value of 3.6 million voters. These 3.6 million voters easily toppled the referendum in their favour resulting in the Leave win.
    Whilst this in itself is fine, a few point points to consider are that the vote was only split by around 600,000 votes, it will take us at least 2 years to go through the full legislative process of leaving the EU, and around 500,000 people die in the UK every year the majority of which are people over the age of 65. These three factors combine to suggest that when we leave the EU in 2 years time, it will no longer be a democratic decision as not only will the Leave campaign's most valuable demographic have began to die, but more young people will be able to vote, the majority of which are in favour of Remain.
    Basically what I'm saying is that the old, traditionally xenophobic people of the UK, who have benefited from 40 years of EU membership and growth, have fucked up a future most of them won't even live to see. Thanks guys, top job.

      Most of these movements may be small, compared to that in Scotland, but none of those countries will want to set a precedent that could bite them in the arse down the line.
      I wouldn't be at all surprised if Scotland faced multiple vetoes for reasons of self-interest.

    • @procron
      @procron 8 років тому

      That doesn't seem to be the case. Watch the recent EU meeting debate in which a Scottish MP received a standing speech for talking about the EU and Scotland relationship. Besides, its basically a fact that Scotland contributes greatly in wealth, considering that Edinburgh is one of the most expensive cities to live in. If Scotland votes for independence its basically guaranteed they'll be able to join the EU.

    -leaving means we regain sovereignty
    -we have control of our waters so our fishing businesses with thrive
    -we have the ability to open trade links with economically thriving countries, India, China, America without having to follow the EUs legislations on how much we can trade and the trading policies
    -the eu won't cut trading with the UK, we import more than we export to them so they would lose more than us through making cuts

The older generation voted out they were able to see the UK before and after the EU and they drew the conclusion the EU is a failed project. Only the younger generation/Millenials are up in arms. Basically people with no life experience or wisdom.

    • @ashlingkeane3905
      @ashlingkeane3905 8 років тому

      No they won't cut trading with the UK, but as we will be outside the single market it will cost us a lot more to buy these goods from the EU, prices will go up. Access to the single market is dependant on freedom of movement, which is why the vast majority of leave voters chose to vote that way. As for our sovereignty, the UK gets what it want more the 85 % of the time, and the legislation is nearly always progressive, helping the poor and making Europe more equal and a better place to live. As for the fishing thing, EU regulations are in place to try to preserve fish stocks which are being wiped out on a massive scale, if the waters are decimated, it's not just the environment that suffers, it pushes up prices and ruins the fishing industry. All the fisheries can think of is the here and now and squeezing the last bit of cash out, the EU is regulating it not to harm it but to keep it sustainable and going.

      In sight The EU extends further than immigration and even with the WTO the EU governance would supersede the WTO if regulations regarding trade overlapped. Trade certainly will be hampered and there is no reason to believe that the EU would not sanction the UK explicitly or implicitly because of the exit in the near term.
      The UK's contribution was high for sure but it is dwarfed by Germany and France either over time or in a single year. To say the EU "needs" the UK is an overstatement. And that is the basis of the market reaction that the UK will be penalized by the EU which is all too likely. Why? Because if you can exit the EU without ramifications then what's the point of having the EU?

    17.5 million people do not regret their vote Out. There are obviously, some who regret their vote, either because they did not understand potential consequences (no guts for change) or truly did not understand what their vote was for. However, They should have done their homework, like the majority of us. It was not a vote for Racism or Anti-Immigration. I am Black and 1st Generation British Citizen. I was born here. I am also old enough to remember working and studying in both pre and post EU membership. I do not feel the so-called economic benefits of the EU, aside for the charities I have worked for, at times. I did not agree with Great Britain joining the European Economic Community (EEC) as it was at time of membership. Many business and industries suffered on joining. Many trades disappeared and new trades had to be discovered, or fostered, to replace them - we have become a consumer society, rather than skilled in industries to support our own infrastructure. No one in this country got to vote to join the European Union (EU) which is essentially a non-elected political party with a mandate to political union. We are not a nation of country yokels and please give respect to our populace for sending a strong message to our government that they are supposed to representing the electorate and not corporations who get fat on our shores without a trickle down to benefit the lives of the people that struggle to have some quality of life that we are told we are supposed to be enjoying thanks to the EU!

      Why would anyone want to drag along countries such as italy, greece and the likes? They are 50 years behind in the technological sector and with a piss poor education system this surely isn't going to change in the next 50 years.

    • @demeloa1624

      Wow just fucking wow out of all the things that might be wrong with the EU you pick something that is not only untrue but also completely racist. Congratiolations sir you are a moron. First of all yes it is true that in certain countries of the EU corruption is an issue and yes the government of said countries should be held responsible aswell as a ceratin percantige of the population who take advantage of the situation. However the majority of the population is actually being robbed and arent some kind of lazy fuck that does not want to work. One should also consider how certain countries like Germany,France and oh yes ENGLAND gain an economical advanatge because of the poor economie in other EU states like Portugal or Greece.
      And last but not least you should consider the fact that im German and we pretty much paid the biggest chunk during the crisis, plus even though we could still do a much better job with refugees compared to you guys it kind of seems like your not even trying mate ;)

    For all the people moaning about the British pound losing it's value: it's just a short term consequence of the market uncertainty. It will restore in a while. Big changes like this always have a big influence because change means a (short term) uncertainty. Great Britain left the EU (not yet), but they are still in the European Economic Zone. Is leaving the EU actually better? I don't know. But the current EU is way way way too bureaucratic, big, slow and expensive. In order to remain the other 27 member states, the EU needs to change.

      Everyone knew that the market would drop immediately following Brexit because many foreign based companies will have to leave London now. But thats ok because it will bounce back when the British companies that are overseas now have to come home to the UK. It will balance out in the end.
      Regarding the EU, the UK has 2 full years to transition out of the EU. That is plenty of time for companies to move out and others to move back in. The people most effected will be the rich white collar workers and they can always find another high-paying job in Europe. Now many of the blue-collar workers whose jobs have been outsourced will be brought back to the UK and they can once again work in their field of expertise.
      Finally, the UK was the 2nd largest contributor economically to the EU. The EU cannot "make any example out of them" because now the EU is weak. Germany and France will have to make up for the lag and it was already hard enough. I think the EU will fall apart because without the UK, there are now way too many countries that take in more than they give and that balance has been tipped. People act like there are no European countries outside of the EU that do well. Many European countries outside of the EU are doing well and so will the UK. It will just take time and not a long time either. When the trade deals are renegotiated and the companies move in and out, all will be well.

    • @GoddoDoggo
      @GoddoDoggo 8 років тому +6

      The British Exit wasn't exclusively about keeping refugees out. In fact, it was hardly about that at all. It's going to keep out far more tourists from surrounding European Union countries because travel will be so much more difficult. So yeah. Your tourist money is pretty much gonna drain.

    • @kadajawi6567
      @kadajawi6567 8 років тому +3

      Not the refugees perhaps (though consider that Steve Jobs was the son of a refugee), but companies invested in Britain because it was part of the EU. Since it isn't anymore, they are going to leave, and may invest in Germany for example. UK companies too are going to leave if they can, or at least establish a bigger basis outside of the UK. Factories are going to move, because producing in the EU has advantages. And it goes on and on and on.

      Yeah they want to be as close to the continental market as possible so they set up their manufacturing base in a country separated from it by a body of water with as few of the EU regulations implemented as possible and with a currency exchange disadvantage.

      There are lot's of different groups who come to live and work in the UK. Some are from within the EU, some from the Commonwealth, some from the wider world. Refugees were held up as 'The Great Threat' all through the Leave Campaign, that they were ready to flood into the country en masse and threaten our way of life. This appealed to those who feel threatened and to the bigots. It encouraged them to stop seeing desperate human beings and start seeing 'monsters'.
      But someone who arrives as a penniless refugee fleeing from war, life threatening discrimination or economic chaos CAN still contribute. As in the early days of the US, they come and work hard, really really hard. They more often than not end up being either self sufficient tax payers or building businesses that pay tax and employ people - who then pay tax. So yes, they contribute.
      All the same arguments were used when people of a different colour were invited from the Commonwealth countries to work here, when millions were displaced during WW2 and even when the Vietnamese boat people arrived. They added to our culture and they contributed to our economy - despite initially being discriminated against.
      Besides that, we're an island that has been invaded time after time throughout our history. If you did a DNA analysis of the whole place, you'd be hard pressed to find many full 'original Brits'.

    • @jwadaow
      @jwadaow 8 років тому

      littlewoodimp It depends entirely how you define original Brits, you can say a certain mix of ethnicities constitutes an original Brit.
