And that wee hike you did.... thats why I own a superzoom (24-240mm in my case). It's not super sharp, BUT, it usually gives you enough for any shot on a scouting hike... and can still print at like 30" x 20" if necessary (if a scene is epic... it's going to be "good enough"). My other option if I am being super light is my Sony RX100 VI which sports a 24-200mm equivalent - but of course its only a 1 inch sensor - so a bit more limiting. Regardless - nice when you don't want to carry a 16-35 F2.8, 24-70 F2.8 and 100-400mm on a scout. Can highly recommend having specific gear for scouting!

Hey Thomas, I am enjoying your photography excursion to Iceland. Your photography is beautiful and your videos are fantastic. I look forward to your videos every week.
The only Mitshubishi that sounds like a Maserati 😂 Beautiful place! nice video as always Tom! 7 years following you without missing a single video... never getting bored... big hug from Spain
Did have a chuckle when you pulled into the "lay-by" for your first photo, that in the middle of nowhere on a dirt track with no one in sight, you signalled to turn left 😂 Always remember the highway code! Cracking video as always!
I really enjoyed this one! Amazing views! Like WOW! And you shot a waterfall!! I know you’ve mentioned before that waterfalls aren’t really your thing. Great job! Gavin’s gonna be jealous!
Watching your video while sitting in my own van in a small village in France on a 5 week road trip is surreal. Last night I had the best dark sky I have ever exprienced in my life, seeing the milky way in a clarity and with structure that I've never seen before and this was not even the darkest place of my route. I do astrophotography and I have some equipment with me, but watching your videos encourage me to also do more landscape photography. Fun fact - I have the same or at least a similar portable fire pit with me, but the only campsite that permits a campfire so far was in Switzerland and each camp had it's own fireplace. I hope you enjoyed your trip as much as I do.
Fantastic video as always, Thomas! If I could shoot as well as your 'B' roll, I would die a happy photographer! The quality is amazing. There are so many great images that could be pulled from that. How do you do it? No, seriously, maybe a future episode on shooting and processing 'B' roll would be great. Just a thought.
Tom - have you retired the poweroak battery you installed when you built the van. I recall it was specced to have plenty of headroom above your power needs at the time (and ran your deisel heater and Leds) so why the need for the new Eco Flow units?
These videos are inspiring, Thomas going to different parts of the world and taking these beautiful photos. I like to watch the ones more in the U.K. because that’s all I can afford to travel to. Iceland is extremely expensive, even if you have a camper, and I would never be able to afford to do that. I wish I could. He’s an exceptional photographer with huge talent. I would like to be a professional but I’ve been told in feedback from my photography club that I just not that good, even though I like my photos.
I am totally enjoying watching you work! amazing! photography! Can you help out with some gear questions? Would you do medium format for landscape or full frame Sony A7rV. Just starting up landscape photography.I have been a professional portrait photographer for 25 years.
Its the elements of your videogrpahy that make me think. The drone and static cameras capturing your journey in your van. You dont even realise the effort you have to do to capture the scenes. Great work as always Thomas, stunning captures👌
Excited to see what you got here as I only just had my first visit there this summer! Indeed a place I'd love to return to and do the big hike towards north 😊

Brings back memories. My Rental car windscreen got chipped on that road to Pakgil. Stunning campsite - I heard other tourists nickname it Jurassic Park
I drove my old Focus in 2007 down a very rough road to the red sand beach in west Iceland. Only 4x4s there. Lots of stares. It was a 4x4 route, no damage done but it was a challenge. I rode the ruts and took it slow. I did take fewer "challenges" after that. A route to an old Dew Line radar station out east was toooo rough. Tooth filling rattling and so i felt discretion was the better part of valour 😂😂😂 esp when i had to get back to the uk in the same car. Did the iceland run again the following year, same car. Sold the car after that, with some sorrow. Probably baked bean cans now although i kept the under bonnet slam panel a mechanic broke (by leaning on it) as a souvenir 😂😂😂
It's a funny little drive that one, especially if someone comes the other way. There was a quad bike tour going on as well when I headed back out. Grey skies while I was there unfortunately, but that's Iceland.
