JR did a clinic for a store where I taught in the 90s. Unlike some others who came through, he sat in the shipping room and ate pizza with us, laughing and telling jokes with the whole drum staff. Later at the airport we all had a beer together. Just a great guy.
Off the Wall . BEST MJ Record . And I DO know That My favorite session Drummer Jeff did Thriller R.I.P. JR is Killin' on ALL the Quincy Joints . I guess Jeff AND JR Got me to really dig Pop Music On a High level . These Two Drummers Layed it down in the 70"s and 80's . I really enjoy JR's story telling . Another Brilliant Interview , Thanks Dom
I watched this I don't know how many times.... and it is still great! JR is wonderful. I have a little relationship with him mostly through running Neil Stubenhaus' official FB page. He's been nothing but gracious and friendly. And he's a great musician too :-)
GREAT piece. Some of his best work (I think) was his work on Jude Cole's "Start The Car" album. He shared the chair with another great, Jeff Porcaro. Thanks again, this was awesome.
I like that he mentioned he wore out the song Hush by Deep Purple. Ian Paice is an amazing drummer and has that swing feel as well. J.R. is the real deal. Was he talking about Vinnie Appice at Berkeley? I have seen some UA-cam videos of him and he is a great technical drummer. His brother influenced John Bonham's drum playing who J.R. has mentioned in other interviews. Gotta love the drumming community!!!! P.S. Stewart Copeland another great drummer has scored movie soundtracks so maybe J.R. could get tips from him!!!
I was so blessed to do a clinic with JR in the 90s and he was as real as you get !

Yes, and he still is a great guy!
I think John Robinson has played for Larry Carlton quite often! Now...... THAT'S a GIG!!!!
@@newmoon54 John Robinson played drums on Larry Carlton’s song BUBBLE SHUFFLE.
The bigger the star, the nicer they are...
His video of him explaining MJ’s Rock With You somehow found its way in my feed. I’m thankful it did. I can’t stop watching it!
I love JR as a person and player
