in this video I'll show you how to add transfer adhesive to the back of a patch and also show you how I apply my patch to a hat using the hot Tronix hat press.
The Stahls rep did a demo on JDS Industries video showing off their 360 press. As you said they really pumped up the lower platen radius to avoid creases and create a better form. After watching your techniques I will certainly build up the lower platen and try to eliminate annoying wrinkles in my sublimation transfers.
I bought this specific material at Walmart its called 3yrds Shason Textile Pro Tuff Outdoor Fabric. Buy it online and get a better price per 3 yard quantity. The plastic is the magic! Its what keeps me from having to use a hot knife. After the outer edge satin stitch is done I just punch out the patch from the plastic. (See video that I made on that process) I use design shop pro+ from melco for my digitizing because I got a little discount when I bought my EMT 16X machine
Great video. I have three questions . 1.Can you tell me where you bought the patch material and the name of it 2. Why you use the plastic from Home depot opposed to a Regular stabilizer 3. What programs do you use to do your Digitizing . Thank you
Will I be able to permanently bond a patch to denim, cotton, or other material with the ultra bond transfer paper? Is it washable? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I wonder if you can help me answer a question. I want to adhere velcro loop to the inside of a Cordura backpack with a heat transfer method so I can attach pouches. Do you think a standard table iron would do the trick without damaging the Cordura?
I set it at 3.4. I use Design Shop digitizing software. Just play around with different densities to see what works best. The goal is to punch just enough holes in the plastic as not to separate the patch from it.

Nice technique. I was definitely overdoing the pressure.
Great video. Was having same problem seeing seam and hat didn’t fit snug. Found a towel rolled up and now perfect
Yeap that towel roll is a God send, You dont even need to purchase the equipment.
Thank you Brother for Sharing this!
You bet!

Thanks for sharing your technique
Very good looking fabric with the plastic back, where I can buy that black fabric like that?
Walmart. Outdoor Pro Tuff fabric
What is the transfer adhesive you are using? Hoping to use with iron-on patches that don't adhere on their own after using hat-press.

Honestly I'm not sure. Sorry
@@thethriftychristian82 Thank you!
I was wondering how to make iron patches
Hi. Nice explaination. Is it Heat n' Bond Ultra, or is it Madeira E-Zee?
I only buy the adhesive from theembroiderystore now. It's the best that I have found after having tries everything.
Thank you, what density do you use on your satin border?
I set it at 3.4. I use Design Shop digitizing software. Just play around with different densities to see what works best. The goal is to punch just enough holes in the plastic as not to separate the patch from it.
Do you use a towel to build up the hat? I can't quite tell what you are using on the bottom.
Yes it's a towel and some pieces of material placed in toward the center more to build up.
@@thethriftychristian82 awesome, thanks!
What thread are you using? Thank you.
40 wt. Polyneon from maderia
What transfer iron paper are you using
In this video I'm using HeatNbond but I prefer a 2 mil adhesive that I buy from Madeira
Where did you get the roll of glue from?
I now buy it from The Embroidery Store
After all my experimentation I found that their roll of adhesive is the best yet.
where I can find transfer adhesive?
At Joann's Fabrics
What adhesive did you use
Heatnbond
@@thethriftychristian82 thank you
What’s the time when pressing
300 degrees for 30 seconds
@@thethriftychristian82 ok thank you
Sir, what is the name brand of the transfer adhesive paper?
Ultra bond
Thank you! Great video very detailed. Did you ever get your sewing machine to sew your hats?
Video could have been under 10 minutes if you had written a script, stuck to it and edited out all your “umms” and long pauses.
Your welcome. So glad you didn't have to pay for any of the info. I'm never critical of anything that was given to me for free.
Would Barge work to attach the embroidered patch to a hat?
Barge?
@@thethriftychristian82 Barge Cement. I think a lot of boot makers use it.
@tittiesandpasta I'm sorry I'm not familiar with it so I couldn't say.
@@thethriftychristian82 No problem. Thanks.
