The charge with the Mortar from my understanding if the rules is that it should have been concurrent. The mortar was behind the hedge (clearly shown at 55:44), so it would need to either cross terrain in which case it would be out of range to reach the target, and because you needed to get around the hedge you are no longer running in a straight line so also concurrent. Plus the SMG return fire should have been 2 dice, with tough fighter.
No plan survives first contact with the enemy and that mortar shot was literally the first contact of the game. Lol. Currently painting and assembling grenadiers and British troops, the British done as Canadian infantry. Been watching a ton of these to get familiar with the rules and game flow, so thank you.
Absolutely love you channel, and yet another great video ty. Have a idea for you guys. Should try long distance games with you fans. Set up simple similar tables and go for it what fun.Think it could work playing against your fan base. Was my idea I am first lol
awesome board, love it would love to see more pacific boards on youtube though, since im trying to make one (playing marines and japanese). need more inspiration :D
Amazing...like my first game when my Wolverine caught a medium mortar and got destroyed... I'm thinking it's some sort of a right of passage in Bolt Action.
Another awesome vid. Cheers travis. I’m sure someone must have asked this already but can you share how you do these roads (or even better, a quick video!) do you literally just pour grit where you want it?
I was just going to ask about the roads myself, it's a great idea and looks awesome! My question is what do you do for clean up? Does it make your game mat dusty?
I need to review the rules but the bocage is very dense. I am thinking that moving through without hedge cutting gear should probably take a turn to enter and then the second turn to fully exit. That would create some interesting dynamics in the game by limiting armor to roads largely and channeling them.
At 14:50… I thought visibility from the hedges is 2 inches. Could greyhound hit them without issues? Or since they are so close to the hedges it does not apply to them and just grants them soft cover and that’s it? How does it work 14:53
The other thing I noted about this game was the lack of option for infantry to use AT grenades and swarming of that Wirbelwind and Puma. That might well have changed the dynamic.
Good game! If the Sherman could have taken out the wirbelwind that would've been been a very different outcome.hell of a shot from the puma. Quad auto cannons vs infantry is no joke
@@tabletopcpthe sand really looks good on video. Assume it works great on a table left out for a while. Wondering how it would work for a table setup for a day at the local store. Is cleanup pretty easy? Figured shake the sand all to one point on the mat then pour into a container but not sure how well that would work with that fleece mat?
Sorry to bother you guys at Tabletop CP but I've really wanted to ask where you guys got your awesome pin markers. They look very nice and look much more practical to warlord games pin markers.
I learning Bolt Action ( one game in), right at the start when your mortar hit couldn't the American Mortar have gone "Down" to half the number of hits?
Open Topped also allows Infantry to put Pins on enemy units. And when Assaulted by Infantry, they don't need AT Grenades and ANY damage they score against the vehicle it counts as destroyed.
Criminally underrated channel, love the scenery! Keep it up!
Charging with the Mortar is just hilarious to me, thinking about Hans just picking the tube up and using it as a club.
Seems like a lovely game I will watch it I played Bolt Action a lot but not recently ... maybe one day I will play again.

Excellent terrain and scenario..... good teaching too....

Beautiful board and units. Can't wait to play again once my little cat stays away from my table. lol
Great game as always, well explained and I always like the terrain/scenery set ups :)
Great game, I learned a few things

Might take a little work but you would be the first and ground breaking
We have done that a few times with our patrons. It works ok as long as the game is small. For a bolt action game maybe 600 points a side.
I like how the Tabletop Generals Dice have their own magic in your nerd cave over there
They do have some sort of mystical ability to roll 6’s
Unleashing the Wirbelwind against a noobie... that vehicle can end friendships! 😅
😄 I almost felt bad
awesome board, love it

The roads are just plain old sand. Just laid out how I want. Super simple
Love it

@@benjaminredacted4472 just a good shake off outside. Doesn’t leave any dust.

Yea the target is within 2” of the hedge so they can be seen
When the Sherman fired at the spotter, spotters count as down at all times unless they moved that turn.
The other thing I noted about this game was the lack of option for infantry to use AT grenades and swarming of that Wirbelwind and Puma. That might well have changed the dynamic.

Love the roads! Did you just pour sand on the cloth mat?
Yep. Just sand.

@@dennisdaniels4386 I have a lot of sand so I just fold it up in the mat and shake it off outside. Comes right off.
@@tabletopcp gonna give it a try.
Any videos on how you did your hedge rows?
Can a sniper target the open topped crew? Another angle on dealing with a Wirbelwind facing away from you and wearing your forces out.
A snipe cannot target vehicle crew. Would be cool though.
Sorry to bother you guys at Tabletop CP but I've really wanted to ask where you guys got your awesome pin markers. They look very nice and look much more practical to warlord games pin markers.
No bother. They are from a company called Charlie Foxtrot out of the UK.
I learning Bolt Action ( one game in), right at the start when your mortar hit couldn't the American Mortar have gone "Down" to half the number of hits?
Yes you can but you have to declare you are going down before they roll to see if they hit.
I haven't played bolt action since 1st edition. is it still in 2nd edition? how is the game in its current state?
Yep still in 2nd. Game is strong. Lots of players. Although the errata/faq is like 36 pages long
Where did you get the pin dials?
Those are from Charlie Foxtrot
Great game, really enjoyed watching. Are the American vehicles Warlord Games or Tamiya?
These are Tamiya 1/48
You had lucky dice against a newbie. If I have the same thing I make it a quick kill for a new game.
I did think that the spotter was always counted as down.... do tell.... Thanks.
Once they do their spotting for the turn they are no longer considered down
If the order dice goes to the spotter he is not down, if the dice goes to the mortar he is.
Why doesn't the Greyhound fire his MG's? He could get pins on the Wirbelwind if nothing else.
That’s true. Should of done that
What could he have done differently? How could he have adjusted his plan?
Oh, there you go, change entry point of greyhound.
Should have charged the open top AAGun. Easy kill for a squad of troops.
Open topped is only +1, if the shot comes from above, so to speak
I thought open topped was hit by anything... rifles et al.....
@@vincnetjones3037 an open topped vehicle get pins by every hit it takes. The +1 pen does only apply if the hit comes from above.
