This dude literally used the slightly different versions of Muslim jokes over and over. The girl at least came up with different material and formats in each round.
Eli had some really good punchlines here and there but overall she should’ve won.
He did do a joke on her roast style nervously hugging the mic, which I have been waiting for someone to make a joke on that.

Dina was far more creative in what she was actually making fun of; that second round was amazing, she just used his own words against him, that's brilliant as fuck.

Dean O.: This is why they are judges, not comedians...they aren’t funny. And with only several variations of a single descriptor/emphasizer (fu*k) between them, they have a very limited vocabulary which makes them sound a bit desperate to be funny. Anyway, the comedians weren’t bad.
@@rayray8687 All of those judges are Headliner Comics, seeing any of them do their stage show would certainly change your mind. Big Jay Oakerson, Ari Shaffir, Yaminika and Rich Vos are all great comics. They are just trying to come-up with jokes on the fly.
Dina's jokes are so much more elaborate and thoughtful.. in all honesty she should have won this one... she won the first and third

But when you say relatable things about him/her like appreance, colour, religion, community then that's the real roasting. I think the guy did well.

Dina won 3 by a hair, but round 1 was reasonably Eli. He bombed the last joke and that hits him pretty hard, but not hard enough to make up for how hard he killed with the rest of the round. It's reasonable to say that Eli won overall, but Dina may have won key moments that could have given her the dub by technicality. So it's pretty much the 2016 election, but how people wanted it to play out.

Dina tried very hard to be disqualified when she used her phone as remedy in her second round prop comedy stunt. She broke the rules for the entire round... and she bombed miserably.
The judges need to not be so hammered for the actual judging part. Eli clearly reused the same jokes; bombing, dad beatings, Muslim extremism. He literally had 3 jokes and an impression of her....

You don't understand "battles", it works the same way in rap battles, if you can come up with rebuttals, you can begin your round by responding with their own joke. It's highly praised in verbal battle scenes, BECAUSE it's optional and exceptionally difficult to do.
how disqualification? it's like you need to write lyrics for 5 hours while the guy can freestyle anywhere anytime. you really think she didn't know what he was doing? she knew but there was nothing she could do. she prepares all her jokes beforehand. if they had a 4th round, she'd be out of jokes (I think that MC actually said that).

I think it's because they are under estimating her or something like that.
Eli had so many moments where the crowd was silent. Dina didn't, everyone roared. Her jokes had more originality and felt more thought out, they were obviously made to hit him directly. His jokes attacked her religion mainly, didn't feel like he was roasting her and felt out of place. When her jokes ended, I was laughing and when he ended I was just kinda meh. He's a comedian, but not too good at roasts. She's very good at knocking down that ego, major props to her. I think it's clear Dina should have been the winner but to each their own.
Edit: I didn't realize there's more than one round. This opinion is based just off the first.

I made it through round one before realizing that sitting through Eli’s jokes to get to Dina’s just wasn’t worth it. Then it was reinforced when I had to hear the judges’ jokes, the worst of them by far.
Dina, pick on people your own size because you were the only person of intellect in the entire room. Best thing Eli did was open with Lynyrd Skynyrd and even that was too on the nose from an Alabama boy.
The problem with Dina is that her style of comedy doesn't really let her give comebacks. If she could find a way to do that and keep her style going noone could stop her. Her content is hands down is the best.

Agree. I love her delivery method though. She has this quiet, deadpan, shy girl routine but then sticks a knife in. Even to herself sometimes. She gets on stage with no shame and talks about how hairy she is. I bet it's even crazier than she alludes to. Going down on Dina is probably like trying to French kiss a tired Trout choking on a pom pom.

When Eli went away from the muslim jokes, he attacked her for being overweight (Dessert Storm) and having a dad-bod.
I don't get it, either i'm blind or he is because she is not overweight nor does she have a dad-bod in the slightest.

"Dessert storm" was not meant to be a joke, just a nick-name pun on "Operation Desert Storm". It´s irrelevant whether she is overweight, as long as she´s not super thin. Girls love sweets. You didn´t catch that Dina made jokes about Eli´s religion and alleged that he would surely praise schoolshooters? Dina also "bodyshamed" Eli when she made a joke about Eli´s weak body appearance, and complete lack of muscles. And what about Dina´s jokes about Eli´s genitales. How are they not "sexist"? Oh no. I think it was a hard one to judge because they had a favorite, and they couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that she was so much better than him.
Subjectiveness. Eli did what he had to-get the judges to like him more. Hence he won and was better than her.
David, I dont agree. I actually think the judges wanted to see the champ go down by the hands of a woman. The think with Dina, some of her jokes are smart and people dont get them sometimes. Not her fault the croud or judges are stupid. I think what also killed her in the third round, was that she knew she got there because of pity. She knew she had lost since 2nd round and that can affect you

I totally agree with this. You can see it on many of the comments by the "judges" who are clearly biased. Many laughs were forced ones by friends in the crowd. The jokes were not that funny and as some have commented lines above, this is a ROAST which is based on roasting a specific person, not a religion. Like he had to make us believe she was a spy or terrorist, really? Extremely poor approach.

The judges are just wrong, and I wouldn't trust them about anything funny. Eli had like 2 funny jokes, and his "breakdown" of her stage presence just straight up not funny. That's what I had her winning rounds 1 and 3. She really destroyed him in round 1. She had two hay makers that eclipsed all of his round 1 jokes. I don't like how the judges change up their votes and shit. That won't stop me from coming back to The Stand, but Luis come on man get a handle on them.
You have to look at it from an effort perspective too I think. The delivery and observational research is better by Eli in round 1. I would say Dina overall had more impactful roasts in round one but the jokes were kinda similar one liners. The fact that Eli personally attacked her method of delivery gave him an edge, because he's right. That's her comedy crutch, deadpan works great for delivering killer insults.
Overall I think from an entertainment perspective Dina did better and should have won if you're only judging by who got burnt more. But the judges are comics, they have to appreciate effort and the intelligence of the jokes. Eli is a sharp kid you can tell it by how quickly he retorted to the bloody hand line. Dina is amazing but the fact that she recorded and edited a roast segment is low hanging fruit. If you're a comic you can't really appreciate that as much. She's just standing still playing audio that she had ages to prepare.
But I respect that if the audience found her funnier then she should have won anyway, just trying to explain the judges are going to be more selfish and judge according to 'bit difficulty' not just entertainment.

Based both on my reactions and the audience reactions, I think Dina won that battle. I don't agree with the judges about having to win by such a wide margin to win a belt. If this were football, you wouldn't tell a team, "Hey, I know you technically won 21-17, but for it to count you had to score 24." A win is a win, and that Exorcised joke put her over the top.

Can I just say that I noticed a pattern most her competitors tend to have to show out. Like having to act large and explosive to get people’s attention. While Dina’s whole vibe is like a small storm turning into a very noticeable hurricane out of nowhere.
