Whether you love or hate them you can't deny they got teenagers into Prog Metal. Also they encouraged young musicians to not only pick up interments, bur ti learn to play them well.
voxextremos22 I started listening to dream theater at age 13, I've only discovered these guys a few months ago, but I will agree with you, there's some special stuff in this genre!
Learning the riff at 1:30 wasn't too difficult, but trying to play it at 3:40 with the new drum beat behind it is like having to learn it all over again. I never realized how much my playing relied on the drums.
I just think it's amazing they managed Alpha and Omega in the same year, with this kind of quality. I would have churned some random crap out and hoped for the best. But then, I'm not a band.
Liam Shaw 17 songs between the two albums, not much longer than just one average album. They are both amazing yeah but it's basically just one album, both even released on the same day
Don't forget Clear was the year before and Periphery III was the year after. They've been really pushing themselves, the only year from 2010-2016 without a new Periphery LP or EP was 2013
And I don't care how much Periphery bad mouths there own concept album and how much it it took out of them, it's still one of there most beautiful and complex and well put together pieces of work ever.
They did Alpha and Omega in the same year, which is a feat in itself, but this song is a masterpeice. The progresions are epic and and bass and drums (which are my thing) are fucking epic.
It's absolutely incredible to me how underrated this band is. Maybe it's because I'm a guitar player, but come on. If the riff from 5:11 and onwards doesn't open the clouds to show the most beautiful angel with a Slayer T-Shirt and full sleeve tats on a Harley to you, you probably aren't a very enjoyable human being to be around. Just saying.
That, my friend, proves that you do not know anything about singing. I try to sing myself and know several people that are good singers (some if them teach it) and ALL of them say that spencer is ridiculously good.
That opening riff is life. Holy shit.

100% got me into prog metal. Cannot deny that it has moved me completely into a whole new world of music.
same here
it was AAL that got me into periphery, who then got me into dream theatre. So i guess in a way
It’s great because what u just said literally described he last year of my life
5:10, 9:42, 10:05. Three of the most amazing melodic bits that Periphery has ever written.
TheRockstarr33 There you are 😂
Whether you like it or not. This song is a real masterpiece of musical literature and writing

I found a somehow similar sounding riff in The Architect by Haken. Search for the song and skip to 12:18 min ;D
5:10 That riff...
i sense mraky in that one

As a matter of fact they managed Alpha and Omega in the same day! It's a double album dude.

As much as I love both records I really feel they could have just put the 17 tracks on one album.
Bad youtube, bad! You are not allowed to put an ad in a periphery song. We've been bamboozled.
Play alpha, omega, racecar, then reptile and play them 8 times at work your day will go by so good.
Alternatively you could play P1, P2, clear, Alpha/Omega,P3 and P4 all once in full for a similar experience
4:18 It's the elevator music from MK ultra HAHAHAHAHA
concept alums are fun

0:52 still gets me to this day. definitely one of their greatest riffs ever written!
8:00 - 11:44 most beautiful music known to mankind
shinglam szeto * 0:00-11:44
True and true.
4:20
@@savagesalmon1889 nice
10 minutes passes way too quickly when listening to this :o
I love 5:52 so much! Also the solo following.
I love the intertextuality
This song has literally anything
8:01 that is insane notation
I love the vocals at the beginning. Badass
4:18 some Opeth vibes
I got a mid roll add during this. Can you N O T
Bamboozled

The Guitar parts sound very Plini, I love it
I AM DESTRUCTION...
WE CAME FOR WAR
4:17 - 5:10 can anybody here play the fucking guitar like this??!! Fucking epic!! Love this band!
8:54 That's some Guthrie Govan stuff right there
סער אברהם yeah dude, three.
Mmmmh maybe more "opeth style"
I prefer the hole entire Juggernauts Omega 100× more times than Alpha, but still Alpha got some banger too
Everyone does
It's supposed to be listened to as one album tho
3:57 - 5:10 i think is the best part
you know it's a good song when everyone's favorite part is different
YOU FUCKING SEXY HERO OF MUSIC HHHNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG
Mal conheço e já considero pakas
CADÊ os Br?
Por aqui, eu acho...
PERIPHERY
Opa
Why do the vocals at 10:10 sound so familiar?
It's alpha
It's a reprise of the chorus to Alpha.
Alpha
I cried when I heard that part the first time
Just concept album tings
Holy fuck that breakdown at 7:25.
what did just happen?
1:28 dat groove
Musically I find these guys good but the different modes of screaming and singing are too hard to feel with the music for me.
Drummerinthe Park Its all about preference to be fair, spencer kicks ass to me but I can definitely see why it may not be your cup of tea.
jordan carlin I listen to many extreme bands. I honestly can't see how it blends with their music.
It does to me, thats why I said its preference, its obviously not your cup of tea and thats perfectly fine.
It's a shame you can't see it mate. I assume you aren't big into many bands that have the blend of Metal and softer/more melodic sections?
I love everything that happens in the first 2 minutes and then it's cheesy .-. Where did all the dissonance go after 2 minutes? ;-;
What an awful singer... He should never do clean vocals ever again.
sssuuure thing ultra badass pentagram youtube keyboard jockey
Spencer is the best
That, my friend, proves that you do not know anything about singing. I try to sing myself and know several people that are good singers (some if them teach it) and ALL of them say that spencer is ridiculously good.
he can sing some hard stuff but his vocals sound shit
Well, then off with you.
Periphery hit the perfect Nitro after 5:10....
