Wonderful I used to build rubber powered planes 35 years ago, now i think i will try again. I live not far from Wawayanda like 8 miles by the Warwick drive-in
Wow wonderful pictures! Keep on doing this for the next 100 years, the land the time the nature is so wonderful and the best scene you can get for a wonderful flight!
That was utterly captivating to watch. Everything, the photography, the music, the aircraft, all in a beautiful harmony. Thank you for posting such a wonderful video.
Great work as usual Tom. You're the ONLY videographer who knows how to use the zoom feature on a camera it seems. Just about every other video I watch of outdoor FF models the person shooting the video doesn't zoom the camera and 10 seconds after launch the model is a spec in the sky. Lovely models and lovely videos, Tom!
Thx. It's all intuitive now...but there was surely a learning curve. I use a rather old Canon Powershot from 2009 or so. Only 720p, but it has a 20X optical zoom, which really gets u there when it's necessary. Still, 20X is about as far as one can go without a mono or tripod. Plus I have to manually focus for infinity before each flight, which I do without even thinking. The reason I've stayed with this old cam is that it was developed early on when image stabilization was happening for the consumer market, so the IS is very mild. Subsequent upgrades with the strong IS makes filming our models nearly impossible, with the cam always trying to center the image. So I go relatively old school in the digital age, and make it work. 720 & 1080 is good enough for YT.
@@maxfliart I produce cat videos on another channel (klusmanp) and I still use my original tape drive DV camera. 480i baby! It also has mechanical zoom very handy. Yes nobody needs 4k on UA-cam.
Wow Tom you're really spoiling us, fabulous uploads on consecutive days! And as great a contrast in styles of planes as could be wished, within the remit. Another two firm faves here, but I seem to say this about all your planes! But I think this Schweizer just has the edge over the other one (blue and yellow is it?) for me (I do like red/yellow).. Gollywock looks like it's right on form also.. Wonderful! 5.30am is indeed a thing, I have one myself so I'll stop prattling on! Brilliant and so relaxing to watch. Thank you so much Tom. 🌟👍
Stunning beyond words! Absolutely amazing how much time you’ve spent on these videos, in addition to your exemplary building/flight trimming skills. Thank you! 😎
Once again I am completely impressed and entertained by the models, their flights and the music you choose for the background. So I'm wondering...will you ever make a video of where you store all your models and what music would you select?
Ein wunderschönes Video. Sehr stimmungsvoll und beruhigend. Vielen Dank dafür. Mit den besten Grüßen aus Deutschland. * A beautiful video. Very atmospheric and calming. Thank you for that. With best regards from Germany.
We're going out tomorrow, and will have both the hi-start and the winch. I tend to go with the winch approach because of the control factor, but if she's towing straight, then I'll switch to the hi-start, if we have it set up. I'll see what I can film tomorrow. Thx for the suggestion.
Further to that, and maybe you explained it elsewhere, but how do you trim for a straight tow and turn in the glide? I've seen old contest designs that have a trim tab actuated at release (maybe they still do that?), but it looks like you are doing something else.
That is the first time that I've seen tow line glider flight. That hand winch must be 10:1 or such like to pull that much line in so smoothly and not much cranking rpm. Very cool. Gorgeous videoing. Do you ever use a dethermalator? Thank you for these videos.
When will the 27” Seafire make another appearance? You put a lot of effort into getting it to fly right, but once you did, it was a fantastic flying model!!
What if? Might a night flight with an onboard light, and the right exposure time, capture the pretty pirouettes and aerial arabesques of these flying phenomes in a single frozen flourish? If anyone could it would be you.
You give me the isnpiration to start it again! Last month I have bough the same model I have got on Christmans 1976 ! Was 8 years old. Its an "Escolar 2 45cm(18inches) wingspan " from Casa Aerobrás now the kit is laser cutted from Allen Modelismo . Lets see if I can get at least half of Your flight times😂😂😂!

Wonderful little visual meditation. Thank you.
Your camera's optical artifacts of the sun actually enhance the drama of the video.
The color scheme on the wing mirrored the dawn sky🎉 fantastic!
Quite the most beautiful, and even emotional, model flying videos I have ever watched. Thank you so much!
Thx for the kind words.

It's amazing how you can recreate all the magic of flight with these little machines... and a poetry worthy of Miyasaki's animated films!

The glider and the Golly Wock fly well as always. Thank you.
Thanks Tom. What a beautiful film. The Sun King smiles from the sky.
Absolutely gorgeous footage!
Wonderful. The video and what it depicts is art. Thank you, maxfliart👌👍
Fantastic video. Superlatively done Professor Tom.

Good stuff.

The Gollywock is the best model ever. Never fails.
Truly loving the multiple camera angles, makes for great viewing. No d/t on either? Are they cool air only flyers?
Thx, I enjoy seeing the wide shots of that huge field. Both have DTs, but at sunrise or sunset, there's no need to use them.
Very nice Tom. Could you do a tutorial on your high start set up ?

Where can I get plans for that beautiful little Schweitzer glider? I gotta have one after seeing this wonderful film!
Thx. It's available as a short kit from Volare Products. I've posted the link in the film description.
