Time to look for a clean 3 door late model car to either yield all the repair sections or swap into the other shell.
You could get a normal 205 as a donor car, there are many in france and germany for less than 1k euros in good condition to rebuild the floor and all rotten parts
Unfortunately the normal shell isn't strong enough for a big engine, a mate had a seriously tuned 1.9 that he put in a good 1.6 gti shell and it started to crack in places
@@oliverwoodham6685 It's the same shell😂
@@oliverwoodham6685 all 205 has same shell difference is subframe gti:s is different but you can strengthen it by welding seams fully
I can say that only body difference is rear wheel arches gti:s has them cutted upper like a egg shape normal has nice and round cut.
Turbo Diesel has a 1.6 & 1.9 Gti shell. All other Base models are different. Be hard to find a good Gti shell. Seen worse on Car sos get Repaired. Get it dipped and start welding. 😂
@@oliverwoodham6685 it's the same parts, if it cracked, it was probably already bad.
Can’t believe the previous guys said this was ready for paint 😂
Wow the owner must be gutted, imagine if he’d just let the other guys carry on and finish it though !!
It would of been a death trap.
Already is a death trap
Gutted for Tom. No one deserves that! I know it’s easy to say but it’s only money. Keep your chin up lad 🙌
I’m 18 own a 205 in resto would love more videos with this
Oh man that’s gutting i used to walk past a red 205 GTI on the way home from school it was long before camera phones so I’d sit on the wall and just stare at it.
I have a shell coming up for sale around April time. It’s a good shell.
Thank you. The owner has had the car back now.
Can honestly say I don't think I've ever seen a 205 that bad! And I've seen a few lol.
Yes all old cars rust but 205's tend to be quite resilient hence why there's actually quite a few left on the road. Most problems I've seen over the years is were they stress crack on the seems and not repaired soon enough
They were galvanised 205s
I have Black xs which has sitting asphalt park 5years until i bought it and my backyard another 5years until i stripped it fully down/sell parts, only rusty spot is under backseat left corner egg size hole and thats it easy repair so thats the worst one what they got
Is there any commonality between the 205 and 206? Could a floor panel etc be made to fit?
Gutted this isn’t going ahead, spent many hours in the back of a 205 when I was a kid and would’ve loved to see it looking mint
We all had to do rough shit to make ends meet.
Hi, how did you get the drivers seat out on your 205 bud??
Is it 4 bolts from the top?
I have managed to get 3 out but can't find a 4th one on the left side of the drivers seat.
Any advise would be appreciated.
What a shame, I had a similar conundrum with my clio Williams, after 3k spent on one corner the rot un covered on the other the side and at the front was a horrendous. I persevered and had the rest of the rot sorted. 8k in and it’s been in storage for 5 years waiting for me to bring it home
😂
Normal places for rust and normal DIY wiring by the looks of it, I Bet the engine was tilted as well as most where to keep the cost down to save on exhaust mods, done much worse (And still are) than that but as said time as you need a good base model shell to cut all the panels from which takes 3 times as long.
Pick up a non sunroof 3dr 205 base model in decent nick and fit the gti parts?
Three door Peugeot/Citroen's of this era all rusted out on the inner wings and b-pillars and in that space you showed "I'll have a go at welding point".
Bad news to hear ,, but for other 205 owners still going ,, any parts off the shell for sale ??
Wide body!!!🤘
Never seen a 205 go so bad. Normally they should actually be quite good on rust.
Seen 205's been stood in a field for over a decade, that were better than this one.
Could it be that I might have had some crash repairs in the past? (A bit of a side impact perhaps that wasn't properly repaired and sealed)
Becuse it was trashed in accident.
Gutted
But Can you still not fully strip send for acid dip? At least fresh metal to work with will be left
It could be his dream car still
Try find a doner car maybe? Doesn’t need to be a GTI
That floor pan is toast mate
What are your plans for your track day Fiesta? You now need at least 400 bhp to keep up.
Thought they were meant to be galvanized, I'm dreading looking at my 309 GTI now properly, though it has been garaged it still rotted from the inside out on the sills and the front! Looking to get the work done if you want to take it on! It's Miami Blue the best colour too!
309’s were always much worse than 205’s though. Around the fuel tank especially.
@@davog1946 Yes, that where’s it’s gone, looked perfect from the outside, jacked it up one day and the jacking point collapsed!
I’d scrap it. 309 was a ball of scrap new. I’d have to wear a balaclava if I was in one just to avoid the embarrassment of being seen in such a pile of dirt.
@@eddieconvey9223 blimey, very strong views. 309 was actually a better car in many ways and many agree the wheelbase gives it better handling characteristics. Had both and enjoyed both.
@@eddieconvey9223 and yet the 309 was very highly rated as a ‘drivers’ car. I knew a lot of guys from our local rally club who owned 205’s and 309’s
Still, I guess you can’t see past it’s slightly ‘ugly sister’ looks perhaps?
I'm a mig welder, owed nine 205 gti's over the years wish owed this one would fix it!!
Buy a clean used shell from the south of France (no/less salt used on the roads), pull it apart panel by panel and use what you need, or convert it to RHD
Defo a body shell for scrap, just way to gone. But am sure another better 205 shell is out there.👍👊
Man that looks brutal 😑 got a sorrento here in bits, drivers floor rotten
That b post is cray….
Theres a sorrento green one on ebay atm needs resto but dosnt look as bad as that one 😉
This ones going to be epic lol
Please tell me the owner didn’t pay that welder for that shitstorm?!
Did the owner have this for a while or has he just bought it?
Much worse has been repaired in the 205 community. However after the golf rust repair blues I’d suggest you’d want to end yourself sorting that one out.
you need to name and shame the other garage
I kind od wanna but this Shell for parts. But i live across the pond so shipping would be a bit of a problem :p
From a galvanised body to rust what the hell this thing is more of a death trap than a long walk off a short cliff
Not the best is it!
Bloody hell that’s bad!!
Did you get a shell yet...?
Garage that bodged that needs naming and shaming..you could potentially save someone’s life.
A wise decision made guys.
It's such a shame to loose another old classic but it would cost thousands to restore and as it's a customer car it's not worth it, if you were doing it for yourself then it's doable but even then I think you would need a donor shell if the parts are not available.
Why is this different to any other classic car? Sections can be cut out, welded etc.
Contact torque steer Luke, He maybe able to help with a spare shell. That is beyond messed up
oh no way..........you gotta do it.........wait till the channels bigger........must do is MK1 golf and Pug 205.......lol please.
Go out and get a earlier gti as they don't rust as bad...at least you've got lots of parts.
That welding is unacceptable, leaving al, that rot in place. I reckon they’ve seen the rot, bodged what they can and said it’s all done. I reckon Stevie Wonder could do a better job
Usuall peugeot rot remember messing with saxos and 106s back in the day they was as bad back in the day.....be a case of make your own panels cut rot out and repair... drivers seat mount cracking is common saxos and 106s suffered the same issue cheap thin metal
These were galvanised from new I thought
Sad but understandable.
No way you could do anything with that shell. Might be interesting to acid dip it but otherwise £RIP 205
Geez that pug is rotten they never use to rust like that its a shame there nice cars
Thank goodness for that. For a couple minutes I thought you were going to take it on!!
I'm after grey panels
Load of fiberglass and some paint and that will make 5k all day on eBay :D
English built gti s weren’t galvanised . French built shells were galvanised and some Spanish built shells were galvanised . If this is getting broke drop me a messsge I’ll buy complete interior . Thanks
Get mine bought off me Dan .
I know of a few shells here in Ireland if yous are looking give me a message .
That just looks awful 😬 another 205 lost to the rust bug 😪
Need to name and shame the last garage that had it, people's lives are at risk with bodge artists like that still trading
France 🇫🇷 cars
I bet there’s a few of those shells kicking around France? (You often see them rotting away in peoples front gardens over there)
That could have been a death trap if hit in the wrong way. Whoever did the work needs to be blasted so people know not to trust their safety to them.
Did they put a 14 yo trainee on that job? 🤭
What a shaity company. I hope they see this, and go straight to the school bench 😂
My god what shops do nowadays and call themselves professionals, I that never welded in my life could probably do a better job.
I can't weld or mess with cars and even I can tell the previous repair work is in the words of supernanny - not acceptable! Shame :-(
These cars were unfortunately built by the French Navy, they surrender at the first sign of water! What a sad story this car is, it should be dipped, into a quarry and covered over! The last people what worked on this motor need to be named and shamed, 1, for not doing a proper assessment; as you have. 2, taking money from Tom. 3, for being generally shite and knowing how to turn on a mig unit??????????????
Such a shame #gofundme 😂
Ffs name and shame
Seen a lot worse
I had one 1,9 205 GTI, horrible engine always something with that car so indeed French cars suck
Dan, please stop emphasizing the word “Yeah” !!!
Yeah
its not that bad really ive restored much worse
that’s to far gone it not worth it at all
Typical French crap unfortunately. Was thinking as you showed no way it’s worth fixing. Best decision all round
