    It is nice to see videos showing that it is possible to fit other communicator options to these helmets that have integrated options as the integrated options do not keep up with progress. I have an original Neotec and a Sena 20S. I have been very disappointed with the performance even though it is just a wireless way to get my phone and GPS into my helmet. The speakers were not loud enough to use with earplugs as I experience wind noise on my ST1300 and Concours14. In an attempt to fix this, I ordered the JBL 45mm speakers for the Packtalk. I found that they were not much better in the stock speaker pockets. I found that they needed to be moved forward about an inch, which was achieved by removing foam from the cheek pads. Now the volume is no longer a problem even while wearing earplugs. I do keep the volume only to the point where I can hear clearly so as not to damage my hearing.

      Our pleasure! Communication systems definitely still face a long way to go in some areas, with volume and noise being a particular issue. Though it is always possible that the positioning may need adjusting, this is also often not as easy as one would hope.
      Thanks for letting us know how you found the helmet, we appreciate it!
      Besides the volume, what are your thoughts on the Cardo system?

    Thanks - useful. BTW the Packtalk clamp DOES mount OK on the triangular cover OK - couple of videos out there. Best if a little of the plastic is removed (dremel) from the cover but this does not compromise the helmet as it is removed anyway if fitting the Sena rubbish.

    Excellent video. I have been looking to purchase a new helmet and already had a new cardo unit as a Christmas present, having been disappointed with my previous two sena systems. Having see. The video I have now bought a Shoei Neotec 2 helmet, which I am very pleased with. Thank you. Rob

    It would have been nice of we could have seen where you ran the wires out from under the helmet. All the rest is most useful.

      Thanks for the feedback! We ended up running the wires over top of the cheeckpad and then behind the liner. The insert of the cheek pad meant running the wires directly presented several challenges.

      @@Championhelmets A little patience and all fitted well. I have the base as far forward as possible. Even then the Cardo Wires are just long enough for the boom mic.
      The system is awesome, I never had such good sound. The helmet is OK for the moment. I have ordered the 31 mm cheek pads as having a rounder head the standard ones are a little tight.
      Still to do much mileage, but so far a great purchase. I do own another one and only with this one found out about the cheek pads being changeable. The other one is for my bike on the other side of the world.

      Great to hear the mounting went well! We also found the Cardo system offered fantastic sound quality when we tested it out, and the JBL speakers did make the difference.

    Why in the world would Shoei pick Sena for their intercom? Paticularly the worst Sena available? Cardo is far superior and has been since its introduction.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 роки тому

      While the limited options of the latest Shoei offerings have led to some frustration since you can't transfer systems, the benefit of a plug and play system that offers a lower helmet profile and lower wind noise is also present. Though the question of which of these two options is better still depends on a wide variety of factors.

    Please upload a video on how to fit a Sena 50S onto the Shoei Neotec 2.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the suggestion! Though it may be worth experimenting with the standard clamp to see how you could fit it, it will most likely run into the same problem as the Cardo Packtalk, which means you may need the glue plate.
      Sena have detailed this in the instructions, but to switch the plates out you first unscrew the microphone from the standard mount, and unscrew the back plate. Then, you switch out the rubber pad on the mount for the thicker one in the box and screw the glue plate mount on. The rest are the usual glue plate mounting instructions, and you may also find that, because of the smaller speakers, the 50S will fit even better in the Neotec 2 than the Packtalk Bold.
      What do you think of the system so far?

      @@Championhelmets thx Champ. I'm. Waiting for my 50S headset that I had pre ordered to reach me as it is just being launched in India. I have been using the SRL1 so far so I'm going to have to replace it with the 50S due to the mesh technology. I was anticipating some issues with the installation due to the presence of the knobby piece on the side housing the SRL1.

    • @TheMatrrixx

      @@Championhelmets is it possible to switch the SRL1 to mesh? I was told it is not mesh 2.0 compatible.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 роки тому

      Shoei have made it a challenge with the Neotec 2, but it should still be possible at the end of the day to find a way.
      Unfortunately, that's correct, the SRL 1 can't connect via Mesh 2.0. The only way it can be included is if the system is bridged via Bluetooth connection into the Mesh 2.0 network, or if the SRL 1 is connected to a Sena +Mesh adapter.

    Hi, will you be doing a review for the Scorpion R1 on road testing?

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the suggestion! At the moment, we don't yet have plans to road test the R1. However, it's been fairly well received so a far as moderately priced sports helmets go, especially since it also even comes in a carbon fiber version. So, we'd expect it to do well for weight, comfort, and ventilation, though we'd have to test it out to know for sure.

      Thanks for the feedback! To bridge the SRL 2 into into the Packtalk Mesh, you first need to make sure the two systems are paired using the universal intercom function on the Sena and the Cardo. Then, once the connection is established and active, you can press the intercom button to bridge them into the mesh. Thanks for the question!

    Hi, Do you know if the packtalk bold black edition 45mm speakers will fit inside the C4 Pro? I've owned a C4 Pro Carbon for over a year now and Im now looking into buying a comms unit. I don't understand how suppliers can still justify charging over £200 for the SC1 advanced which is now well-outdated technology.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 роки тому +1

      While it may be a tight fit, the Packtalk Bold Black 45mm speakers should fit. Lengthwise, the speaker pockets shouldn't be a problem, but it may be a squeeze heightwise. Due to the lip along the bottom of the helmet, you will also likely need to use the glue plate to mount the system.

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  4 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately, the answer is that it would be very difficult. Due to the triangular side panels the only feasible locations, based on our tests with the Cardo Packtalk, for a possible clamp mounting are either uncomfortable far forward or slightly too far back. While the glue plate can give a bit more versatility in this case, it's also not necessarily ideal. Thanks for the question!

      Since i already own a Sena 30k, this issue with the SRL2 mounting position is going to be a deal breaker for me, unfortunately. Would've loved getting the GT Air 2 for my sport touring needs. Will have to go with something else now, maybe the X-Lite X-903 Carbon.

    While I don't necessarily like the proprietary approach the helmet makers have taken. Not only are you practically forced to used a brand, but you are also stuck with a single model. Even if I was a Sena fan and wanted Sena 50, I'm out of luck. To make matters worse, the comm made for the helmet is usually one of the lower end specs. I got burned by Schuberth when I bought a C4 pro and SC1 comm that plugged in. The look and installation was great, but the sound quality is total garbage compared to other comms I have used. I really wanted the Neotec 2, but this has caused me to look elsewhere.
    Thanks for sharing the obstacles faced with installing an alternate comm in this helmet.

    i will try this! I am very dissapointed with bad sound of the sena srl, when riding with earplugs on highway my old cardo would be loud enough to hold a decend conversation, with sena i cant hear a thing also the top 2 soundlevels of the sena just kill the bass witch is so anoying with more bass heavy music, sena is just alround dissapointing from the app to the computer program to the actual use while riding, its a expensieve mistake!
