Finally someone doing these videos working the same way I work. What we call in America, "Old School" under the car. I been putting back together a US 2006 325xi Motorsport whose previous owner ruined the ZF Transmission. So we had to put one in and from there repair the other damage caused when the original transmission failed. Fast Forward to Summer 2021, and the first time I fill the car up petro leaks from the US Driver's side of the tank with no Petro smell in the actual vehicle. And when I say leaks, I am losing roughly one to two gallons when completely filling the tank. With the FUEL CAP is open light coming on. while driving. First I suspected I CAUSED the problem by lowering the car. So I was prepared to replace the whole tank. Then your video showed us it is possible to LOWER the tank enough to repair it. Provided we lift the car higher. THANK YOU..... Then we found the problem, the Mechanic who installed the Pressure Regulator DID NOT INSTALL the GASKET with the same. This was discovered when we removed the pump and pressure regulator to DRAIN the tank before trying to handle a practically full gas tank lying on our backs under the car. As for the breather line malfunction. I think BMW Owners need to ban together and force them to address what I and others feel is a serious design flaw.
Thanks for your message. I have to work with jack stands on the floor as I dont have a ramp... like most home mechnics. Glad the video helped you in showing how to lower the tank for access. I would agree with you about the design floor BMW have here... they really should have placed an extra clip to hold the breather pipe or remove the sharp edge. Thanks
Thank you gentlemen. My 120d has probably the same problem. Now I can order right parts for my car. Ps. Gotta love fixing German cars, everything is always big job (they don't care for mechanics).
I think if I was caring less, I could have just cut the inside of the car to reveal the connector. By the end of the job, I almost wish I had taken this shortcut. Thanks
Wow you did a lot of work for this small problem, I suggest to drill/cut a small hole underneath the rear seat, so you can easily disconnect and reconnect the hose.
hey I know this comment is old but do people really drill a hole in the car? Does this cause any problems or small inconveniences with smell or something else? Sure it saves a lot of time but I'm a little hesitant to drill a hole in the car.
@@n3on170 Because at this spot there is only a very small and thin piece of sheet metal it was easy to drill, afterwards I just glued a new bigger piece over it.
@@lewizhammilton2899 wow nice idea with drilling a hole. Can you explain me where exactly I have to drill? I just tried to figure it out myself but am afraid of hitting the fuel tank. I would also appreciate if you send me a picture! Thank you very much in advance!
Hi, this was a while ago, and I cannot remember. But placing either extra material around the pipe or securly fixing it so it cannot rub would have helped things. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video. How long did this job take you? I need to do this too. I am losing so much fuel. But I am afraid to leave my car in pieces because I don't have a driveway. Thank you so much for this video. Greetings Michael
@@lewizhammilton2899 Can you tell me a bit more about this? i.e. where do you need to cut? I need to do this myself and they want to charge £300 so absolutely want to do this myself.
drilling a hole near the fuel tank pipe end gives access to remove it without dropping anything but the wheel arch and the rear seat, google it, its on a forum

Thank you very much brother
What a nightmare.... well done
I think I'll just fill it 3/4
Great job. Thanks. I would suggest that you should have jacked it up much higher!
GuTWorm68 You are probably right. Thanks for your support
Lift the rear seat and drill a hole in the metal on the rhs. You can get a screw driver to undo the clip and extract the pipe. 1hr job max
thank you
Wowz alot of work for a small hole, shame on you BMW! My E87 diesel is doing the same thing :(. Great video though!!
theeroom Thanks for the comment. It was a lot of work.

Lewiz Hammilton Yes that would have been quicker. When I started the job, I didnt realise it would be so much effort. Thanks

Anyone got a part number for this or where I can get one please. Thanks
Did you sort what was rubbing on the pipe in the first place?

Hi you can also cut a small hole underneath the backseat to be able disconnect the hose from there, this will save you a lot of time and work.
Thank you, I will certainly do that.

Yeah... how I did it was probably the long way around... also heard of people cutting access holes. Either way I got the job done
Where can I find how to do that????
