Because of this show i’ve completely hot rodded my epiphone SG. It was my first real guitar, but it was honestly a terrible instrument but i made it perfect for what i do with it. I replaced the C shaped mahogany neck with a D shaped maple one that has a much darker fretboard with trapezoid inlays, big gibson shaped headstock, I put hipshot locking tuners on it, i moved the front strap button to the upper horn and used eye hooks instead of standard buttons, i made my own full face pickguard using a new white one and reversed the stock black one and shaved it down to fit, and i put a single EMG 81 in the bridge with one volume knob. The stock wraptail bridge is perfect for sustain and tone and it lives in drop C 100% of the time and feels absolutely perfect. It’s my main workhorse and i intend to gig it to death then hang it up on display when it’s unplayable.
Is adding the EMG's similar to this process in this video. I'm looking at doing something similar with my epi sg because I want to change it up and make it "mine" more or less. I'm just curious to how to install them and the difficulty of the installation. Looking at getting 81/85 Zakk Wylde's.
I'm looking into installing an active EMG ZW pickup set with the electronics and I want to use the Fishman Fluence Rechargeable battery for Les Paul. It replaces the back cover plate on a Les Paul. Will everything fit in that cavity nicely ??? If not, I'll have to go back to removing the back plate to put a new 9 volt battery (that's if there's enough room for a 9V battery). CAN ANYONE HELP ME ???
A few months ago I bought a V off Facebook Marketplace and modded it thanks to you. Repainted it a silverburst finish with Fishman KSE pickups, strap locks, and planet waves auto trim tuners
Man, that Les reminds me so much of a lovely 1985 Explorer in Alpine white. These videos really are the highlights of my week, keep it up man! 81's are always a favourite for me - just great consistent sound. Had a mate's Jackson with bone breakers on loan for a month a bit ago, absolutely loved those as well!
My favorite EMG set has got to be the 81-85 set, it’s just such a classic pickup set that has a really distinct sound, there’s a reason why so many artists use it in their guitars. I plan on swapping out the pickups in my Firefly LP Elite for some EMG’s hopefully.
I love EMG's, been playing primarily EMG's for 20 years now. The 81 will always be iconic in the bridge, but Im really loving the Jim Root Daemonum set. They have a really cool gritty aggression to them.
What a gorgeous fucking workhorse of a guitar. Those old studios with the ebony boards are absolutely killer. I was watching one very similar to that on reverb but someone snagged before I could.
As a bass player, I have several basses with EMG pickups in them. My favorite is gonna be the EMG 35DCX. You probably didn't see that one coming, did ya'? 😉😎
My first EMGs were 81/60 and I loved them! It's what I had for many years. But I got a Snakebyte and the "Het set" knocked me out. It's really a well balanced sound.
Great job, I've watched all your episodes for the past 8 days, LOVE your channel. As for the EMG pickups, I love 57 and 66 set, or 85 in the bridge and 89 in the neck.
My favorite EMG set is the 81/60. The 81 has such a powerful, punchy tone as a bridge pickup; and the 60 has a very crisp clear tone that is perfect for cleans and leads.
My favorite set of EMGs is the MF set, they sound really awesome and they are aesthetically pleasing, also Marty Friedman is one of my favorite shredders, can't go wrong with his art. By the way, that Les Paul looks killer!!!!
Hey Mark, I hope all is well, this was an awesome episode, I love EMG pickups mainly because of Zakk Wylde and Alexi Laiho among others of course and I thought what you did to that Les Paul was pretty awesome looking forward to next week's episode as usual, stay safe stay happy stay well and rock on my friend. I also thought the video game stuff was very cool as well. \m/
You do amazing work .... What do you charge for a pickup swap-out along with all hardware replacement if I supply all parts? Im looking to turn a no-name into something special
Great show you got going here bro 🤘 i love just a single EMG 81 in the bridge. I tried a few of the Het set and they are hit and miss as with some of the newer 81 & 85 models. Keep up the great work champion
My favorite set of emgs is the HET set. I love the tone you can get. its kind of a mix of passive and active. Just an awesome set of humbuckers to go on any explorer or les paul or v
Clocked Maximum Carnage in the background. My favourite Super Nintendo game. Man the amount of times I died from those long hair whipping girls. I had SNES on xmas day 1995 it was snowing too. Sold my snes and 40+ games few years back and now have them all downloaded on my android phone to play whenever and wherever :).
I’ve used EMG my entire carrier. 80-81 when the 80s were easier to find, H-81, Het Set Black Chromes and most recently 607H-817H in a 7 String Explorer!
The first real Gibson Les Paul I ever played was an all white 1994 studio with a headstock repair and beat to hell with white EMGs in it my cousin owned back when I was first learning about two years ago he decided that It was time to downsize and I got the chance to own it it has SD JB jazz combo with a phase reversal toggle switch between the volume and tone pots and although it will soon need new frets I’ve never played a better feeling LP even after all these years it’s beaten and ugly but it’s ebony fingerboard has been played to the point of looking like it’s got a high gloss finish on it and feeling like glass it’s my #1 for D standard
i bought a glenn tipton set the other day, still working on installing, but i can't figure what i'm doing wrong. maybe the input jack, maybe my 8th grade solder technique for the 3way, who knows. and tecmo super bowl for life on the nes.
Have a little bit of guitar finishing experience and you're inspiring me to attempt a swirl finish on an Korean Ibanez S series that's a boring, plain black factory finish...... Any tips on Swirling / Hydro dipping do's and don'ts? Plan on using Magic Marble paints in Silver, White, and Black for the swirl colors.
For my cherry SG satin I have a set of TWs, I like how the EMG logo matches the guitar… but… the 81/60 set is my favorite. Love the contrast of tone between the alnico neck and the nihilistic ceramic bridge.
hey , my favorite EMG set is the revelation , it sounds so good ! and passive emg is not commun ! And the J set for jazz bass ! Keep rockin dude ! love your show as a guitar mod freak myself your videos are like a candy shop to me !🤘
I, unfortunately, don't have any guitars with EMG's but I love the Jim Root EMG's but I'm also a sucker for the EMG 81 EMG 60 combo I just love the sound of and justice for all its just so awesome and aggressive and I love that
Sir, i just want to ask, what is the ideal pots for HSS configuration? For strat type, im using a DiMarzio fasrt track ll on bridge, injektor on mid and bareknuckles Brute Force on neck. And one more question sir, why is it my bridge and mid combination is "out of phase"? Thank you in advance sir.... I watch your vids everyday, and my mouth drooled on the beautiful custom paints and guitar accessories. More power sir! 🤘🏼🎸👍🏻
For guitar I'd pick an EMG 81-60 set But since I am a bass player, I will list those as well. I have a stock Jackson CBXNTIV(2016) which will eventually get a EMG 35P4 and a 35JCS along with an Aguilar OBP-3TK/PP. I also have an old Jackson (MIJ) Concert EX which will eventually get the EMG Geezer Butler PJ set.
Man I had so much game items. I could have had deals with ya. …from dream cast to super nen. To n64 the og xbox. PlayStation 1,2,3,4. PSP. To retro Atari. The sad news it was all stolen from a x. All I have now is PlayStation. Vita.
Been a fan from the start. I’ve modded my Ibanez gax75 with an Emg 81/85 set and a set of Gotoh locking tuners. Also about to upgrade my Rg with a new Gotoh trem.
Emg 81/60 is my favorite emg set. I put a set of cream colored in a fender Strat. Single volume and a les Paul switch. No tone! It chugs hard and people can’t believe it’s a fender.
I appreciate your videos, as they are very helpful. I want to put an EMG ZW active pickup set on my Les Paul, similar to what you are doing here. I want to incorporate the Fishman Fluence Rechargeable battery for Les Paul, which is the back cover plate. Once I install the electronic controls, will there be room for the FF back cover battery ??? I really don't want to unscrew the back plate every time I need to change the 9 volt battery. Can you help me with any advice and/or tips ???
Is it possible to put humbucker covers over hot rail pickups without affecting the sound ?? 1 of my guitars is getting rebuilt soon and 1 of my ideas is mat black paint job with gold hardware. And I don't think the hotrail pickups with go with the gold hardware.

@@zackmyers3100the Zakk Wylde set comes with long shaft pots, I think SG uses small shaft pots? Might want to double check that one though.
Het Set has to be my all-time fav EMG set. Love how clean that looks with the EMGs vs the SD's that were in it before.
I love my het set!
I'm looking into installing an active EMG ZW pickup set with the electronics and I want to use the Fishman Fluence Rechargeable battery for Les Paul. It replaces the back cover plate on a Les Paul.

Thanks so much for featuring my question!! That really helps me a lot, looking forward to working on guitar mod soon
My favorite EMG set has got to be the 81-85 set, it’s just such a classic pickup set that has a really distinct sound, there’s a reason why so many artists use it in their guitars. I plan on swapping out the pickups in my Firefly LP Elite for some EMG’s hopefully.
My favorite set of EMGs are the 81 and 60. You can't go wrong with that set. This project turned out awesome!
Love that shirt from the gaming channel part!!!🤘👍Thanks for the great content,Mark!!!you the man.We all love you and got your back my friend.👍🤘🔥
I love EMG's, been playing primarily EMG's for 20 years now. The 81 will always be iconic in the bridge, but Im really loving the Jim Root Daemonum set. They have a really cool gritty aggression to them.
My favorite set of EMG pickups would have to be the 57/66 set, although i really love the classic 81/60 pickups.🎸🎸
There is nothing I love more than a set of EMG 81 & 85!
EMG 89 pickups have always been my favorite. Best of both worlds.
My first EMGs were 81/60 and I loved them! It's what I had for many years. But I got a Snakebyte and the "Het set" knocked me out. It's really a well balanced sound.
Favourite is this combo! 81 in the bridge and 85 in the neck. Put them into my LTD mh-200. Sounds so powerful now!!
Personally my favorite EMG's are the passive HZ H4s. I would love an Alexi Halo of Blood set though.
EMG 81-60 is just the best pickup configuration ever just the best for thrash tones btw love what ur doing keep it up man \m/
Het Set! I love the look, especially the brushed chrome and gold ones.
81 and 85 set is such a classic combo, but never disappoints!
Great job, I've watched all your episodes for the past 8 days, LOVE your channel.
As for the EMG pickups, I love 57 and 66 set, or 85 in the bridge and 89 in the neck.
I've never been fortunate enough to play anything with emg's. So I will say that I'm sure they would all be my favorite
I've been using the classic 81/85 on an Epiphone LP STD, for me it sounds awesome! I really love LP´s, favorite shape!
My favorite EMG set of all time are the classic 81/60 combo🤘🏻
I love EMG pickup sets I got some guitars with 81 & 85 pickups awesome show keep up the great work on the guitars and the gaming channel .
My favorite EMG set is the 81/60. The 81 has such a powerful, punchy tone as a bridge pickup; and the 60 has a very crisp clear tone that is perfect for cleans and leads.
Dude, that was an amazing song!!!!! Nice job!!!
My favorite emg set so far has been the 57/66. Something about that tone that just makes me fall in love with them!
My favorite set of EMGs is the MF set, they sound really awesome and they are aesthetically pleasing, also Marty Friedman is one of my favorite shredders, can't go wrong with his art.
By the way, that Les Paul looks killer!!!!
I like the 8185 EMG’s. I believe that’s what zakk uses. I used to own his signature set
Sweet Studio this one ! Aging nicely, yellowing out, some wear and tear. Cool ebony board as well !
Great video as always! Emg 81/85 set Kerry King style with the added boost is my favorite
I'm personally a pretty big fan of the EMG Super 77s
Hey Mark,
I hope all is well, this was an awesome episode, I love EMG pickups mainly because of Zakk Wylde and Alexi Laiho among others of course and I thought what you did to that Les Paul was pretty awesome looking forward to next week's episode as usual, stay safe stay happy stay well and rock on my friend. I also thought the video game stuff was very cool as well. \m/
I like the 81-60 sets of EMG's as that's what the boys from Metallica use, Jim root of slipknot, and the guitarists from black veil brides.
You do amazing work .... What do you charge for a pickup swap-out along with all hardware replacement if I supply all parts? Im looking to turn a no-name into something special
Send me an email mark@guitarguts.com and let’s talk about the guitar! 🤘🏼
Great show you got going here bro 🤘 i love just a single EMG 81 in the bridge. I tried a few of the Het set and they are hit and miss as with some of the newer 81 & 85 models. Keep up the great work champion
I've only played an 81/85 set that I had on my Schecter, I would love to get a 81/60 set tho.
I had SNES on xmas day 1995 it was snowing too. i bought a glenn tipton set the other day, still working on installing, but i can't figure what i'm doing wrong. maybe the input jack, maybe my 8th grade solder technique for the 3way, who knows. and tecmo super bowl for life on the nes.
I really like the demo song for the EMG Les Paul! Sounded awesome!
The 57/66 set is my favorite!
I love combo of 81/81 (Richard Kruspe style). There is something in the sound of 81 in neck that is just for me and my playing style.
Have a little bit of guitar finishing experience and you're inspiring me to attempt a swirl finish on an Korean Ibanez S series that's a boring, plain black factory finish...... i use to hate the look of les pauls but they grew on me
@The SNES Man i still think the tele is kinda ugly but thats just my opinion i prefer sharp flying v's and dean ml bodys
Has to be the EMG 57 and 66. Love the smoothness
hey , my favorite EMG set is the revelation , it sounds so good ! and passive emg is not commun ! And the J set for jazz bass !
Keep rockin dude ! love your show as a guitar mod freak myself your videos are like a candy shop to me !🤘
Im gonna pick up a set.of EMG's for my epiphone sg 50th anniversary edition. I dont like the stock pickups so this will be the first mods
JIM ROOT DEAMONUM, they look and sound pretty crisp!
I think my favorite EMG combo is 81-85. It's just classic and so many great artist are using that combo.
this video sponsored by EMG, while wearing a Lundgen PU shirt....
I, unfortunately, don't have any guitars with EMG's but I love the Jim Root EMG's but I'm also a sucker for the EMG 81 EMG 60 combo I just love the sound of and justice for all its just so awesome and aggressive and I love that
I always go for the classic 81/85 set. Immediately makes any guitar sound really crunchy.
so good !!!!!can you made more subtitles (french) in your videos thanx
Dang! I was holding out hope that you were going to do a stealth bullseye/stealth Zakk to this one.
Cosmo Black or Alien Blood Sperzels? Or maybe a two-tone thing, with either the casing or the tuning knobs painted in one color?
Ive never used EMG before but i would like to give em a try. Great vid as always!
yooo, what was the riff madness in the demo track? it was freakin sick
You made that new Ltd that came out this year lol. I can't remember what pickups it has in it but it looks pretty much like it. Better imo
Thank you in advance sir.... great job. Customers who want to save strings during a repair are the worst!
EMG's in in every guitar hell yeah.😁🤟
My favourite EMG is 81 Bridge and 85 neck…Can’t go wrong with those
What song were you playing in the demo? Sounds super sick!
For guitar I'd pick an EMG 81-60 set
But since I am a bass player, I will list those as well.
I have a stock Jackson CBXNTIV(2016) which will eventually

Been a fan from the start. I’ve modded my Ibanez gax75 with an Emg 81/85 set and a set of Gotoh locking tuners. Also about to upgrade my Rg with a new Gotoh trem.
My favorite EMGs are probably the Jim Root Daemonums
looks amazing man! keep it up i love the videos
Emg 81/60 is my favorite emg set. I put a set of cream colored in a fender Strat. Single volume and a les Paul switch. No tone! It chugs hard and people can’t believe it’s a fender.
My favorite EMG's are the ones that aren't in any of my guitars, lol. In general, most all active pickups just aren't my thing.
Nissssssssssssssssssce 🍻
I like the 85 EMG in the bridge. It sounds a bit crisper IMO.
My favorite set of EMG pickups are the 81 on the bridge and 60 on the neck
Cool video, my favorite would be the 81, 60 set 🤘
Is that a Dimebag stealth guitar hanging behind you?
Hey Mark, do an Ibanez Rg, and move the volume knob out of the way for us. 🤪
This might not be a popular choice, but I would have to choose the 57/66 EMG set.
Awesome video man!!!
My favorite set is EMG 81 / 85 !!
I like HSH configuration, and my favorite set is chrome 57/66 set and EMG SV in between.
Coincidentally, my favorite is the 81 and 60. Granted, it's the only one I've tried.
EMG 81/60 forever!!!! I really like the sound of EMG 60 on clean and EMG 81 is the ultimate solution for the ultimate GGGGGGG!!
Hell yeah I got featured
Question: do you ever build left handed guitars?
Is it possible to put humbucker covers over hot rail pickups without affecting the sound ??
1 of my guitars is getting rebuilt soon and 1 of my ideas is mat black paint job with gold hardware. And I don't think the hotrail pickups with go with the gold hardware.
Also, if I do go for a satin/mat black finish, what's the best paint for the job ?? I've seen thousands of options on Google and can't decide
i have an ibanez gax 70 but i didnt have EMGs, i can’t afford those.
🤔and I think the LP 🎸is an extremely versatile guitar... with it you can play blues, jazz, hard rock and even extreme metal...
i only played the the 66, but it was really dynamic!
that Les Paul is looking good!
Dude you need to be my go to Luther
Gotta love the James Hetfield set. Got a great tone and they look sweet too
I know nothing about video games, but I do live in Japan. Let me know if you want me to scour the pawn shops for Japanese games.
