This is pretty much the Vancouver sky train. Only difference is, this is clearly on a much smaller scale than Vancouver British Columbia. They need to expand this train system further out. Throughout Detroit and other surrounding cities.
The two week training course Homer Simpson had to take to drive the Springfield Monorail clearly explained this. So I dont understand why it isnt more common knowledge.
That’s cause it’s made by the same manufacturer. The same model can also be seen in Toronto as Line 3, however, unlike the Detroit Peoplemover and Vancouver SkyTrain, Toronto’s is still manually operated and is to close next year.
Awesome job! I tried doing this with my Canon EOS 60D or my Samsung phone to film it like this. What did you use? Did you stand in the front of people mover?
The problem with the People Mover is it only goes in one direction. So if your stop is one or two stops the other way it goes. You now have to go all the way around and it takes way longer than it should. Plus it only goes around downtown. Basically only good for tourists. It be like the equivalent if the NYC subway only was on a loop from the WTC site to the Empire State Building and that was it.
@@Metaintelligenciaqline isn’t really any better either, i wish they’d dump money into actual public transit in detroit instead of something that just looks good to tourists
There was talk for a time of expanding the People Mover but due to costs they decided to start on light rail (Q-Line) instead and have them connect. Unfortunately we only have one line going down Woodward but I hope we get more.
Before I saw this video I thought Detroit looked poor and was filled with crime and gangs but after I saw this video I realized it was a good morden city!
Grew up in Detroit, I absolutely love it there. But it’s still one of the most dangerous cities in the US. Has some of the worst urban decay in the US as well. Poverty is also a big problem. Everyone wants Detroit to improve (and it is, slowly) but that takes a LOT of time when it spent 50+ years going downhill.
Not really, Detroit's public transit is terrible. One of the worst for a city it's size. The auto industry killed any hope for good public transit in the city and now they're trying to play catch up

The People Mover is NOT a monorail. You can clearly see the two rails in this footage.
The center is the stator. This is a linear induction system.
Colloquially, the term "monorail" is often used to describe any form of elevated rail or people mover, so they are not wrong using that designation.

No, there are securty cameras all over the stations. I've never had an issue.
The downtow area is pretty safe too.
