The wood chips look a little too much like sawdust; maybe add in a little natural bark so it doesn't look so much like construction leftovers? But I love the little hide! Sphagnum moss adds a nice natural touch. And your rosie is beautiful!
Ingredients for a perfect basic enclosure: 1 black painted potato hide, 2 bricks nobody will ever see again, around 10 cups of substrate, 1 big stone, 1 plastic cup with a pebble inside, around 1/2 a hand filled with moss, one toothbrush, and 1 full hand of wooden sprinkles. And on top of everything comes a tarantula (additionally)
She may like having the moss in the water. I use a piece of natural sponge in my water dish for my Rosie to use. It's easier for them to suckle on a sponge or a moss to drink and you don't have to worry about them drowning.
Tarantulas cannot drink from a sponge. They cannot drown(It's a myth) And sponges are breeding grounds for all sorts of nasty bacteria! A waterdish is perfectly fine on it's own. Not only can T's swim, but they're buoyant and do not sink. Just a helpful tip! Hopefully that doesn't come off nasty, as I mean it in the nicest way
In fear not tarantulas or net bug or in a pet store but you need a beginners species and I will give you these tarantula first tarantula is a mexican red knee there docile long lived and tend to kick hairs cause there new worlds but there good second tarantula is Brazilian black tarantula there long lived they don't really kick hair but there good eaters to so
Mine isn't just yet, but yours is definitely matured. You can breed tarantulas after they've reached 75% of their maximum size [Rose hairs get an average 5 inch legspan].
The wood chips don't look natural, also the substrate needs to be deeper, 1.5 x DLS to the top of the enclosure, the rock you put In is a real concern, if she fell onto it she would most likely burst her abdomen, and we know what that means. Sorry if this sounds like a cheeky comment, it's not supposed to be, it's just what I'm seeing myself with the set - up. Not much to change and it would be perfect,
Don't mean to be a pain but they really aren't suggestions, their the professional guidelines that should be followed, especially the substrate and the rock, these are definite in the hobby no matter what terrestrial sp. we're talking about. It's out of concern for your G. Porteri that I am responding again to you. I would say probably double the amount of substrate, take out the rock and you'll be good to go. Hope this is taken in the right context.
my rose hair's enclosure has moss substrate, a water dish and a fake plant in there but it hasn't eaten in the 2 months I've had it:/ I feel like it may be because of the substrate... any ideas
Rose hairs are famous for their long fasts. I highly doubt the substrate is the cause of it not eating, but if it makes you feel better, switch her onto cocofibre substrate. Never had any issues whatsoever using it as substrate. One thing I recommend people to try when their T isn't eating is to offer it a chopped Mealworm (for slings), or a chopped Superworm (for juvenile/adult Ts). This is because when you chop the worm, there will be liquid (the worm's insides) at one end of it. This I noticed will attract the T into taking it, since they sense moisture. It's worth a shot. If she still refuses to eat, she may just be fasting. As long as her abdomen is still plump, you've got nothing to worry. Longest period of time a tarantula went without food was way over a year!
Could you explain why T's are kept in such small area..I am NOT good with spiders at all..but gradually getting over it watching your videos...not sure why it is easier to look at Tarantula's rather than the big English house spiders which I absolutely can pass out if I see one. (I wouldn't kill them tho..it's not their problem or fault I'm scared witless by them!!) ANYWAY..to get back to the question..WHY are they kept (to me) in such small spaces all their lives? XX Thanku for helping me get over my fear...on video anyway!! 😁👍❤
Because 1. In the wild, they don't travel beyond their borrow/home ever, 2. They feel much safer. If they're put in a overly-large enclosure for their size, they get stressed out.
Billy Golias It's not really an issue if there are plenty of hides for them. If it's too large and barren without hides they might get a bit stressed out and fussy eaters
She’s such a good girl! She didn’t run away from you very beautiful too
The closure is looking awesome. But all you need is a fake plant for details and that's about it.😄🌿🌿
i like it!! Fits her good.. 💕
YOU TREAT YOUR TARANTULAS SO GREAT!!!

Who was playing the piano in the background?
That's what I'm saying lol
Liam Duval That was kind of annoying LOL but it was good and I liked it
I swear ever since watching you're video's, my phobia is gone, even thinking about getting one of my own, maybe an Arizona blonde??
Joshua Smith if you’ve never had a tarantula before, then Arizona blondes are defiantly a great beginner species.
I have a Chilean rose haired ~t and she is beautiful and doesn't move much but is very curious
So cute and nice to watch the enclosure making process.
Nice, i would love to live there.
I love the enclosures you create 😍
i think that toys will make the inclosures a bit better
Dr who in his tardis! Star Trek? Star Wars? I could go on for days! 😃
Knowing rosies, this will be wrecked and messy in 24 hours. :D
Gawdammit!! 😩😑
No :D
😂👍
Yes 😂
How about cable TV and a Xbox!
Is it large critter keeper or extra large?

Where can i buy this type of enclosure online and what size is it ?

awww you treat her so well
Suggestion: coconut husk
If you watching in 2021 your a legend
You should add a leaf in the other corner
Great idea 💡
Who agrees that the bricks that he used for the burrow looked like salmon?
I love it !!!!!!! it fits her well ☺☺☺ :) :)
add a leaf or two!
The tarantula is so cute idk why lol
You should add bark into her new enclosure too.
I plan on gettinf a spider like this i got questions what happens if you get too big of an enclosure
3 years ago you pick your tarantulas with your hands
Maybe some coconut husk or a piece of wood
Who is the pianist? 😍
How come yours is brown and mine is pink?
Looks great!!
Where do you get all your tarantulas?
All out. The food isnt to find. Just her hidinghouse, onli that let in.
How often do you do a complete substrate change?
Where do you get your trantulas?

Chara , who said they were a beginner ?
hey Hyraxuz, i just subscribed, and funny thing, today i figured out my rose hair is female because she has lived 10+ years
Congratulations!
Still a long way ahead of her! :P
is she mature yet
Mine isn't just yet,
but yours is definitely matured.

Hyraxuz i cant find anybody to pair up yet. I would only want 1 sling out if the bunch
i have a unsex rose hair 3in. i hope i get female to
3:06 have fun brushing your teeth
Would a small cactus grow in the substrate?
Random 5 month later response :) I think a cactus would Not grow well in coconut fiber. Cactus like Rocky, gritty dry soil, in my experience
Maybe a little plant

Thanks for the suggestions!
I added the woodchips just to add some character to the enclosure, haha.
The rock... hmmm..

Nah it's not a pain lol, no worries!
I knew about this but just didn't cross my mind when I was setting the enclosure up. Thanks for pointing it out!
2019?

Hyraxuz I'll give the chopped up superworm a try, if it's abdomen gets slim and it's still not eating I'll try the cocofiber, thanks
Hyraxuz maybe because I don't have a hide?
Nope..
If you noticed in my feeding vids I never used hides and they still eat like champs!
Who is Hyraxuz...?
2 years later…i hate coconut fibre! Its too dry! 😂😂
get a tripod
its a work of art.lol
Are you Malaysian?my spidey sense is tingling..
Is this the Rosea that ruptured her abdomen? If so that is very unfortunate 😢
3:32 but what if it is your tarantula?
Dun - dunnnnn!
🕷️👍

I didn't like the wood chips
Uses toothbrush for cleaning lol whatever
In my opinion the wood chips make it less natural and more ugly haha.. But whatever looks best for u lol
It's not for a "natural" look..
More for character and contrast cuz I feel just cocopeat for everything looks plain and boring.
Hyraxuz I see.. Leaf litter would look cooler tho
Does anybody know if their are any major downsides of having a larger than needed tarantula enclosure?
Billy Golias It's not really an issue if there are plenty of hides for them.
If it's too large and barren without hides they might get a bit stressed out and fussy eaters
If they're put in a overly-large enclosure for their size, they get stressed out.
@@Uhohlisa how do you think they manage in the wild...?
As long as there are plenty hides they are fine.
