- To my dismay I could not find this gorgeous number from the MGM musical "On the Town" (1949) on You Tube, so had to upload it myself.

Gene Kelly is such an amazing, wonderful combination of cocky and tender. He's legend.
Two great dancers that will never disappoint their audience with their performances.

These masters of dance make it look so easy. They’re amazing.
From a time when Hollywood truly was a creator of dreams. When you would go to a cinema and slip away into a wonderland for a couple of hours, forgetting your daily grind for a while. A time when stars imparted grace and class. They could sing, they could dance, they could speak, they could act. Nowadays all it takes is to twerk.
Every man she dances with is like they are a perfect match...She's incredible.
I love these old movies so much that I memorize the choreography! I know this one by heart!

It's amazing that these two wonderful dancers could dance like this and , only the year before, perform that wonderful mini-ballet sequence : "Slaughter On 10th Avenue". What a range they had.

This was not only my late grandmother's favourite film but her favourite dance number. She past 4 years ago a week before her 94th birthday. She was my best friend Nd watching this over Nd over brings back so many happy memories.
I'm starting to cry because there were such talents... And for the sake of this, we need to live and remember our actors and just the people who gave us a start in life!!!!
These two wonderful, talented performers have such a natural flow when they dance. They made this number look so easy, flawless, and graceful but I know it took a lot of hard work.
This is one of my favorite songs that Gene Kelly sings. It's so sweet!
The "Main Street" number, from "On The Town", is yet another golden gift for us, and posterity, from a more innocent---and, in so many ways---better time. I watch "White Christmas" for one reason: Vera-Ellen. Gorgeous, yet winsome and wholesome. I would love to have met her. From all I've read and heard about her, meeting the real person would not, in any way, have been disillusioning. Quite the contrary.
Watched this movie for the first time last week and I fell in love with it. It is just wonderful.

Look at it from a different angle... 1893 or 1903 does not make a difference. As a non-native speaker, I was able to grasp the humor in the verse (the policeman still bragging about an age-old arrest). Cannot say the same thing about today's songs.

Always loved Donald. He gave me so much joy in my youth, and I never missed a musical movie if he was in it. Saturday afternoon movies - I loved 'em! As with the recent "Mumma Mia", I always left the cinema happy and smiling, thanks to Mr O'Connor.
It's hard to believe that they did "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue" one year earlier.That was so sexy and this number is so innocent. Vera Ellen said that the Slaughter ballet (choreographed by Kelly) was the highlight of her dancing career.

She is great in White Christmas....All the female dancers not only held their own.. but did it in heels and backwards to quote Ginger Rogers... when someone asked about Fred Astire.. there were so many talented dancers and many actresses who had to learn to dance... Rita Hayward, Jane Powell, Janet Leigh, Debbie Reynolds, Mitzi Gaynor. I could go on and on...same with all the male singers ,dancers and singers...we have some now that can hold their own.

I had been seeing this movies since I was 10 years first with my mother that love it, then I have buying all and I saw it in every moment alone or with my mother, she has now 77 and has a little dementia but she love it. I'm 46 and that magig happens everytime you see tieese films. Love Fred, Gene, Vera, Cyd, Arthur Fredd, Vincente Minelli, Stanley Donen and all the people that works in this year's in MGM hairdressers, designers, The Golden Era.. I would love to live those years there working in anything 💜💜💜💜💜

Rumor has it that Vera Ellen and Gene Kelly were best of pals off screen. Gene gave Vera opportunities in terms of her career and she was very appreciative. Supposedly, Vera-Ellen would come over to Gene’s place and hangout over coca-colas.
I just watched this movie a few nights ago, and I just fell in love with Gene Kelly's performance!! I think he's inspired me to dance! 😂 😂 I just wish I could've met Gene, he seems to be such a kind hearted man! Unfortunately he passed away a year before I was born! May he rest in peace! ❤️
Vera-Ellen had a lot if appeal and was a nice actress. She always seemed underrated. Considering her versatile dance ability. Perfect together.
