Love Vera Ellen but I simply do not believe the quote allegedly from Kelly. I have read multiple biographies and never heard it from him. He. Admired Eleanor Powell the most & loved Garland’s hoofing, had a crush on Miller and had much good to say about many partners but never heard a shout out about Vera Elllen.

Rumor has it that Vera Ellen and Gene Kelly were best of pals off screen. Gene gave Vera opportunities in terms of her career and she was very appreciative. Supposedly, Vera-Ellen would come over to Gene’s place and hangout over coca-colas.

This is far more his style than hers. Frankly, I think it limits her.

She is great in White Christmas....All the female dancers not only held their own.. but did it in heels and backwards to quote Ginger Rogers... when someone asked about Fred Astire.. there were so many talented dancers and many actresses who had to learn to dance... Rita Hayward, Jane Powell, Janet Leigh, Debbie Reynolds, Mitzi Gaynor. I could go on and on...same with all the male singers ,dancers and singers...we have some now that can hold their own.

Watched this movie for the first time last week and I fell in love with it. It is just wonderful.

‘Tis complete choreography had been copied I guess in a southindian movie I don’t wann to go further more original is always original and the copied version still has some good dancing steps the star and the costar really gave there best in that South Indian movie song, I do liked the performance of that song as well

She was grossly under rated

Vera-Ellen was such a great actress when she danced... Every nuance, every emotional shift exactly right. Wish she'd done more with both Kelly and Astaire as she could easily keep up with them (she was originally going to dance with Astaire a third time in White Christmas but he had to bow out because of an injury, apparently).
