The 2021-2022 Model S LR is nearly as quick as the 2019-2020 Raven in the 1/4, and even has more mph through the traps! Impressive! Tesla should tweak the launch a bit.
they could easily make the LR run low 10's....
@@DragTimes I have my fingers crossed that they release a boost update for $5-$10k that will make it into the low 10s
@@DescartesRenegade That will never happen as that will get it so close to plaid and plaid would be even more useless bargain considering it is almost 40 grand more than LR. This is the same thing that happened with Model 3P and Model 3 LR
@@sakethmanupati LR is 10.85, Plaid is 9.24. $10k more to push it down to 10.25-10.30 is not unreasonable.
@@DragTimes
It seems to have a flatter power curve (more top power) than Raven.
Even more impressive than Teslas' acceleration is their consistency. Seems like ICE botch the launch for various reasons like half the time. Teslas practically never do. You can either complain that it takes no skill, or you can appreciate the engineering behind an incredibly consistent machine.
ICE (at least not street car ICE) cant compensate for grip levels to any meaningful degree in races like this, EV can. Just too much mass rotating in the ICE, whereas EV drivetrain got all sorts of aces up its sleeve.
I can't drive, so I would pick ev awd for drag races.
Golden Croc “aces up its sleeve” it’s just better technology. That’s like saying the first iPhone had “aces up its sleeve” against the old blackberry phones. It was just better in almost every way. Not some hidden trick or unfair advantage it has. This is about as level of a playing field as you can even get
@@philorgneopolotin8762 Ever heard of something called " a figure of speech"? Seems perhaps not. Let me clarify: I am not suggesting the Tesla is literally a card shark playing poker. Its a car.
Not with that out of the way, the "aces up its sleeve" is referring to the possiblilty of more granular power delivery, by means of electronic control of the motors and drivetrain in various ways. An advantage of EV drivetrains in general. Not so hard to understand after all, was it?
Saying its "just got better technology" is quite a bit too simplified for my tastes, but to each their own. I would hope that most people watching these videos have more than such a rudimentary understanding of vehicles, though.
It's mostly the added weight that makes it less likely to spin and gives more grip. For drag racing, grip is one of the most important factors and more weight is beneficial as long as you have the power to compensate for it, which electric engines have a way easier time to achieve.
800hp and trapping 126mph, someone lied to that poor soul. 😆
126 trap is belong to no more than 550hp cars
Just add another 220hp and it'll trap 154mph :D
I was thinking 600-650. It is kind of a heavy car.
@@3dw3dw Baytown TX, about 25ft above sea level, stock gtr 550hp trap is 126-128 depend on weather and no, gtr is not a heavy car in its class, 3,900 lbs full weight awd is nothing compare to those GT cars today like M8, gts MB, Jag F R, the new little z400 is already at 3,5xx lbs, Gtr is a big and wide car
@@kevinle5810 I was referring to the M6 as a heavy car so I was estimating it between 600-650. My car weighs less than 2000 lbs so me all your cars are pigs. But that's about what I trap at just a hair over 400 hp spinning through 1st and 2nd. To be honest, if my car hooked on launch it would be slower. I lack bottom end torque. I have a video, you can find it.
I know Baytown pretty well. A flock of skeeters tried to drag me off into the woods near there once. Barely made it out alive.
They were the biggest skeeters I'd ever seen. One of them could have stood flat footed and fycked a turkey 🦃. So if you don't have any wild turkeys around Baytown, probably cause they got tired of being raped by the skeeters.
not a chance that m5 is making 850hp with those trap speeds
Yeah I'm thinking maybe 800 crank. Probably 640-660 wheel
@@mattthemorningafter not eventl that. M5 Cs does 10.6 at 130 with 700flywheel
yeah, it is too slow for a 850hp car
Exactly
It’s literally as fast as a stock M5. BS video
We need more videos like this! Beat the SLOW Model S first and you get to the next level PLAID!
@My Ovaries Are A Felon Factory there’s no P100D. Only the Long Range and Plaid are available to order
These new Teslas have better top-end power than gas cars. The old ones were always getting beaten after 90mph
No they dont! Only on 1/4 mile put on a real race bigger strait and the gas cars destroy the teslas!
@@MarcSob22 wrong. The refreshed Tesla S/X keep pulling at near max torque to top speed.
@@MarcSob22 in numerous videos and channels, the S Plaid beats the 918 and Turbo S in the 1/2 mile too. do a search at FFF channel and longboarder(?).
@@MarcSob22 The Tesla would smoke any car in a half mile. Dragtimes is waiting for the 200mph software update to do a half mile race. It's limited to 175mph for now by software. The Plaid traps 153mph quartermile
@@PassportGaming most, yes. Any, no.
I managed a very unexpected 10.869s @ 129.75mph in my S LR shortly after purchasing it last summer. Unlike every prior Tesla, it's a highway monster. Pretty much an S Plaid with one less motor. Same front motor and battery pack.
Yeah people don’t give the base model S credit for how fast it is. All the talk is about the plaid. But even the slowest trim model S beats a Shelby GT500, a Bentley continental GT, an RS7, a hellcat, etc. it’s just insane how quick even the lowest trim is of this car.
Knew I'd find you here, Erik!
The LR is approx. 200 pounds lighter than the Plaid
I thought the long range doesnt have the carbon sleeved motors in either front or back thats why the 60-130 time is nearly double the plaids time
@@noway6238 if you look at the parts catalog, the LR and Plaid front motors look and cost the same ($4000). My assumption is the LR has 1 carbon sleeved motor vs the Plaid's 3.
A roll race from 60 between an old p100d/Raven Performance and a new LR might be interesting.
New LR is quicker! Look at the 60-130 time, not to mention the 1/4 mile trap speed
Would be interesting. P100d raven does mid 10's
@@larryc1616 Weaker launch from the LR. Look how the M5 keeps launching ahead but getting reeled in, opposite of what Teslas historically do. The gearing change gives power up top but the launch is definitely softer too. The 60 ft is also pretty poor for a car that has no traction issues and so much torque.
@@larryc1616P100d isn't a raven...raves 60-130 is like 9 sec flat
@@larryc1616Trap speeds rule the street. ET's are irrelevant when most races are freeway runs from a roll. No other Tesla in history other than the Plaid and the 2021-2024 S has trapped126mph or higher in the 1/4 mile.
Thank you for doing this for us non-Plaid owners AKA Long Range LoL =)
The Model S Long Range is still faster than 99% of production cars. Amazing! It also beats the old Model S Performance from a roll, which tells me, they limited the dig performance, just to keep the previous Performance faster in the 1/4 mile.
lol 99% production cars is a bit far
maybe 70%
You think 30% of production cars are doing 10 sec 1/4 miles !!!!! 😆
@@SN-fl1qy lol

Pretty damn impressive that the LR S was still pulling away a little at over 100 mph.. sure, somewhere around 150 it’s going to top out.. but impressive that with the ICE in 3rd gear it still couldn’t gain ground
I would save $30k and just get the “slow” S.
It's only $15k now. 👍
Awesome, now for the non-Plaid Model X 🙂
Crazy how fast the non-performance Model S is!!!
And this is the slow model S😁
that dual permanent magnet motor model S long range is pulling even to the end man nice
about time thanks for post a Model S LR!! instead of plaid plaid plaid.. the whole UA-cam flooded with plaid plaid plaid.. its good to see what the LRs potential is too :D// impressive!
I swear a Corvette never won a race on this channel.
That BMW has more in it, needs a tire to keep up with anything AWD. That's the greatest thing about the Tesla's they can do the same times anywhere with the AWD.
A 2022 Model 3 Performance would match that Model S 0-60 mph. The model S pulls MUCH harder up top though.
Model S looks better than the M3P tho 😉
Model 3 is more like 3.4 since they subtract roll out on Teslas website for the 3, but not the S
I have both cars and the S LR pulls harder at the start still
@@colejs you’re wrong there. 2022 Tesla Model 3 Performance does 0-60 mph in 3.23 without rollout or 3.04 with rollout. My times are on Dragy and there are plenty of other people even faster than that with Model 3s on Dragy.
This would be a good race
@@LearningFast actually Cole is right, the Model S LR is quicker than the model 3 performance...ive seen them both race..
Race 1 and 2 and 3 BMW never fails to disappoint. In race 2 it had the move too.
…and the 4 motor Cybertruck. 😏😎
Last race the gt2 rs and f8 running the near exact trap speed and 1/4 mile time
Didn't even notice till I saw your post!
That LR Model S is INCREDIBLE. I didn't think it had a chance against that BMW - wow.... just shows how fast the "slow" S is. Too bad they don't have tracks with more than two cars.... would love to see the LR / BMW M5 C / Taycan Turbo S / and VW ID4.... the last one just for comparison to "normal" quickness.
I have the 22' S LR. The initial launch isn't that great, but where it shines and where I feel it in my head is after 30mph or so. It pulls HARD and continues to pull hard well past 100mph, gives me a headache everyday, 2-3 times a day :).
The LR and PLAID rock the same battery. I think the LR is nerfed in energy release but can easily be unlocked to hit low 10's, perhaps 10.1-10.2.
The model X LR runs 0-60 in 3.8 and 1/4 in 11.2. The S should be running at least 10.5 if it's 0-60 is 3.1. It's definitely nerfed.
Yup the car can definitely hit 2.5 seconds to 60mph, and 10.2 in the 1/4 mile trapping 130mph+
Completely agree. I have a 23’ S LR. Sucks to think we have the same hardware as the prior Performance S but we’re software locked. I’m buying boost the moment it comes out!
Not bad for “slow”
@brooks any chance of you publishing the 10mph acceleration times for the plaid and non-plaid model Ss - trying to work out which to buy next having owned a P100d for 4 years - cheers
Funny looking M6
There's no way that F10 M5 Comp is 850hp, it's trapping like 2-6mph about stock M5 Competition numbers. Stock ones run high 11s to basement 12s@120-122. 200hp above that should be trapping in the 130s even with a little wheelspin and high DAs.
Yeah he inflated the numbers
Evolve's stage 2+ as they call it was making 850 ish. It trapped 137 at Santa Pod
Brooks overrating hp numbers as usual 😂
yet the M5 is still lighter and has more HP than the LR Tesla.........
@@larryc1616 it doesn't tho....
Does anyone know if the Long Range Model S / X has the option to upgrade their software to get "Acceleration Boost" like the Model 3 / Y?
I highly doubt it is going to ever happen. You are cutting down 0.5 secs off of the 0-60 time, that will push it close to plaid and will butt hurt the plaid buyers
@@sakethmanupati They said the same thing about the Model 3 Performance buyers and they did it anyways. Besides, an acceleration boosted Dual Motor will still not be as fast as a Triple Motor Plaid.
There just isn't any competition against a Tesla
So the quarter mile time for a stock 635hp CS is about 10.6s and this guy with his tuned 850hp CS gets 11.6s. 11.6s is almost a 10 % more than 10.6s so I call that tune a success! 🤣
Dragtimes Awesome Video I knew that 850 HP M5 would beat that Model S Long Range and I'm not Surprised that it Beat that C7 ZO6
What video did you watch? The Tesla let the BMW start first is the only reason it "won" any actual drag race would go to the Tesla easy.
Ah yes, Atco, my home track. Haven't raced there since 2020.Got to this year. Model S non Plaid, still no joke!
Youll never race there again its gone
@@voxtek How well I know 😕
The fact that this car makes consistent sub 11sec runs against cars that most feel would easily whoop it is nuff said. This car is eating vetts and bmw M5s like whateva. And like they said this is the “slow” one. thats how mutha Fin fast a Model S plaid is!
Surprising how constant the non-performance Tesla is and how accurate the DRAGY is. I have a DRAGY that recorded an 11.79 1/4 mile for my 2022 Model Y Performance. So it's good to know how accurate that time is. And all that NOISE and no GO. Kind of feel sorry for those owners.
Ridiculous that this channel does not have a million subscribers.
Wow and that's the slowest Model S Tesla makes.
Wow so the new car is basically as fast as my P100DL

>Fouled a plug during 1st burn out ?
Yeah, Brooks is still the king of rigged drag races 😂
More MS LR videos! That thing is a beast.
I have to say I was impressed by the Z06.
I can't see why the scoring system called the second race for the M5. The elapsed time was slower, the trap speed was slower, AND the Tesla timer tripped first. I slowed the video down to 1/4 speed and paused the video at 4:04 just as the left timer board (Tesla) flashes 10.93. The right side elapsed time (BMW) is still blank. The only reason it was close was Brooks' terrible reaction time. Still, impressive performance by the non-performance model against two supposed ICE performance cars.
Brooks was giving the m5 the hit each time. He is a seasoned racer, def not a slow reaction time.
Brooks said he was going to give him the hit.. they kind of knew the S was a bit faster and just wanted to give the bmw a closer race
It's simple ,M5 run slower ET but it moved first .it crossed the finish line before the Tesla so it won
@@derekk5992 No, the Tesla crossed first. Read my post again then go back and watch the race again at slow playback.
@@brownro214 just because the board lit up first doesn’t mean he crossed first. Look at the winner light above the et. That indicates who crossed first. Or look at the slip he took a picture of. DRIVER MOD DESPERATELY NEEDED!!! 😳
LMAO….Man and to think this models S car is as of today under 80K and is not build with a ton of “stuff” under the hood, modded out in any way and is meant as a LUXURY sedan , not in a M6 and Corvette vine of competition and it is not only holding it own , It is beating these suped up cars!!!…This car is aimed at S class Mercedes, Lexus LS500, 750i BMWs, and none of those can even keep pace with it,,,we MUST pull out Covettes and M6s suped up n modded to even race this thing. And once Someone pulls out the “Suped up” version of the Model S …ITS FREAKIN GOOD NIGHT TO ALL OTHERS. Get a can of Whoop Ass on your drive Out! Just amazing….just for that this thing deserves upmost respect. When its “regular version” is racing Corvettes and modded up M6s

How does an 850 car only get into the 11's? We had a 750hp Buick Turbo Regal that got into the mid 10's.
Stock 850hp gt500 and 800hp hellcats all do 11's. Only way to get them faster is with drag tires.

Cuz it’s nowhere near 850 horsepower and all that’s done to this M5 is probably some bs piggyback tune with exhaust that hardly did shit. This f10 M5 is trapping damn near what a stock F10 M5 comp traps…
The Z06 need “the driver mod”
That LR has more top-end pull than the P100D/Performance. Are they using the carbon-wrapped IPM-SynRM motors on the LR, too?
I believe so but the LR has a taller final drive.
No, the carbon sleeved motors at this point are reserved for the Plaid only.
If they could add launch control to the LR it could make it a solid cheaper alternative to the plaid…
It has "Drag Strip Mode" just like the Plaid
It would be nice if Tesla would offer a performance boost on the LR.
@@xxZerosumxx the limitation for LR is motors. They’re maxing out motor power. The limitation for plaid is battery. It’s maxing out max battery output.

If Tesla didn’t neuter the LR off the line it’d be running mid 10’s
Still not bad at all for the “base” Model S!
indeed, a lot more potential with this car....
Agreed. There is a lot there. The car feels lethargic off the line compared to the 3 performance. The S doesn’t wake up until 30 mph.
It would be nice if Tesla offered a "acceleration boost" for it like they do for the dual motor M3. 😁
Da Computer PackN 😅
The money you pay for the Beemer’s competition model only to be trounced three in a row (middle one was still a win) by the non sports model Tesla, would be kind of depressing! To say the least!

The Z06 makes my bits tingle though.

Why was the second run awarded to M5?
The S does it so effortlessly as the other two scream for their lives 🤣
How did the Tesla lose the second race?? I'm not understanding how they judge the times based off who gets the hit
Look at the bulb on top of the et board. Whoever crosses the line first gets the win

So your saying the Tesla has less drama?
Lol this M5 is definitely not 850 hp. Let's say that's flywheel so to the wheels somewhere like mid to high 700's rwhp. Pure Turbo M5's stage 1 dyno like mid 700's and trap high 130's to low 140's.
850 HP you say 😂😂😂
That M5 is making is low 700s with those trap speeds.

Electric American Muscle = #1
@AudiSportGmbH Lame excuse. Run what ya brung. Tesla doesn't advertise their model S LR as a drag car. Except for the Demon, I know of no stock, mass produced, street legal vehicle touted from the manufacturer as a "drag car".
Even 10+ years old cars beat the plaid in nurburgring, thats the price of putting everything for being the fastest at the straights. But at the end Tesla kind of got away with it since mayority of people seems to give a shit about how good a car is on the track, but manufacturers refuse to put straight line performance above track performance, but times are changing, now cars channels that used to do track tests, now are doing 1/4 mile tests even with cars designed for track, people tend to trash that good work and engineering, just couse a cars have more power. Track is not about raw power is about overall engineering.
Except this M5 is nowhere near 850 horsepower. The owner definitely got scammed lol. This M5 is running just about the trap speeds of stock power 😂
That poor RWD BMW has terrible traction, to say the least. Same with Z06. Not unexpected really.
Z06 had a better 60 then the tesla. 🤷♂️. Traction didn’t seem like an issue
@@SN-fl1qy Its all relative. For sure the BMW struggled more of the ICE cars.
Tesla can do 1.5 seconds 60 foot easily, but power is heavily nerfed from launch in this model. Its actually nerfed even in the Plaid with its 1.5 it seems.
Z06 on the other hand have to hold back a bit because of lack of grip, just about every RWD street tire car do.

My Model 3 SR+ would get smoked by the hot rods. But off the green lights in town, and without even trying, I get out far faster than everything else, 0 to 45. They’ll eventually overtake me (because I’m not interested in getting a speeding/reckless driving ticket). I’m fine with that.
