Italy has more farmers than most EU countries, second only to Poland. The farming population across the EU, however, is ageing and a shortage of young farmers could put production in jeopardy. The average age of a farmer in Italy is now 58. The latest EU Common Agriculture Policy provides funds to encourage young people to get their hands dirty. FRANCE 24 looks at how much of that budget is actually making it to the ground.

The problem with agricultural policies in Italy is that farmers must anticipate the sums they need for investments entirely by their own and they get EU help refund from italian Government after a year or two the farmers spended their savings. That's insane.
You don't help agriculture with such mad refund policies.
A paradigm shift is coming... working the land is going from a humiliating job, to a luxury!
Italy not the only country facing labour shortage crisis , everywhere the same as alot of young people are afraid of hard work
false. There are lots of young people who want to do this. You just can't survive well enough doing so. Why work on the farm when you can work in the city? Where you're paid for your hard work.
They don't have young farmers, but the young people are all in need of jobs.....

Not sure what you are basing your statement on. Animals are an integral part of agriculture. On the other hand, big ag is terrible for the environment-Think of all the animals who are killed from all that tilling and herbicide and pesticides. Permaculture, including animals, is the answer.
