- Well, we have stripped more of the wagon, found more good and more not-so-good, but we're still happy about it. A brief look at the sedan where a plan of action is devised, but we're at the mercy of a sparky hooking up some electricity, which will be happening this Friday! Hope you enjoy!
Great job Peter. I agree. The 70’s colours were terrific, which is why I brought a lot of them back for the BA-BF FPVs. 👍
Lots to see in this video. Kelly green is very luscious and lustrous. I think we are used to seeing it when it's old and matt and faded and I can now imagine it freshly applied on a car with plenty of clear coat and shine. It's all steaming ahead on multiple fronts. 😊👍
@@PaulinesPastimes Indeed Pauline thanks for the comments, cheers
To open the booster you need to make a couple of long tools out of scrap steel so you can bolt each one to the mounting studs on either side and then twist apart the 2 sides in opposite directions, do not straighten the tabs as you suggested.
Have done a few like this and they come apart if you get enough leverage on the tools.
the booster twists apart counter clockwise but it takes a lot of force soak the join in wd40 for a few days. I made a long bar with a flat plate welded to the middle and drilled holes for the master cylinder mounting studs , also a big C channel works for holding the back in the vise with the right holes drilled into it to hold the booster . Get above it and push down and turn and it comes apart be careful with the plastic sleeve out the back they break easy. A job you can do for sure.
Cheers Steve
@@stevencarboni3091 Brilliant Steve and thanks so much for the info l had no idea about, cheers
@@PeterAndersons❤😊😂
Thanks for sharing Peter, and cheers for the new plating contact I'll be using them myself
When I was younger I didn’t think much of painted steel rims, but now I appreciate them. It’s funny how tastes change as you get older and you appreciate originality more over custom. Don’t get me wrong show cars and bikes are still great to look at, but wouldn’t do it myself these days where in the past I have gone for as much flash as I could afford
Learning so much on you channel Peter, loven the content you are a very clever person 😀 😉
Great video as always Peter
Love that green
Me too, cheers.
Hi Peter, I just had an XC PBR booster rebuilt this week at a local shop here in QLD for $264 after checking out the horrendous prices for reco exchanges on ebay. So it can still be done for reasonable money!
That bloody birds back Peter fantastic video agree lovely colour
one day this property will be full of cars too
That plating looks nice. Good on ya for giving the business a shout out (not that it does much good for me over in WA). I had an LJ Torana that was red, but its original colour was the Lime Green metallic, I was planning to repaint it in the original colour but ended up selling it before I ever got to that point.
Yeah, I've sold a few of them and now I can't afford one haha... some day huh, cheers.
that pillar, drill out the spot welds and put the whole outer skin on the wagon, cut it in the top section where its the narrowest so you have a small filler area to refinish.
it will be a better job than cutting it at the bottom and putting a patch in at the mid point rust.
painting the wheels first will pay dividends because its got hub caps, best to have the wheels fully hardened paint when those go on,
I love the lettuce alone green on the HQ’s I remember growing up as a kid and people were still dailying stuff like HQ’s and XY’s and walking to school there was a HQ SS in lettuce alone green on my walk to school and saw it every day, I fell in love with
Gday Peter, loving the content as usual.
I just noticed at the start of the video your shed gutter has a few little trees and grass growing in it. I'd come and help but I'm in qld. Thaught I'd let you know before summer storm season incase it backs up with water and leaks onto your prized possessions.
Spotted you stuck in traffic on the Ring Road on Monday afternoon lol.
Another omnibus episode Peter. Great stuff. Although I reckon I could smell those rat turds over here in WA.
Haha, it's the urine that's the bad bit. I accidentally put my hand in it and washed thoroughly afterwards! Cheers.
Happy school holidays Peter
Hi Peter, Kelly Green is a beautifull colour!! That tree may be a Japanese Crab Apple, looks very similar.
I think the brake booster rotates to come apart ( not bend those lugs)
Pink lady apple tree 👌
Nice my fav eps.
Wow! Looks like you have a few projects on the go mare.
G'day Peter im back on night shift time to catch up on your videos mate haha
Im glad youll be able to use that cover
The Big fella and I need to paint are wheels but they will be black
Pete, I haven't actually pulled a booster apart myself but have seen it done. It was done in a press there was a C channel over the press bed with matching holes to match the pedal end of the booster. The booster was then placed on the C channel, there was another tool made up for the master cylinder end it basically was a piece of steel plate with 3 holes, same as the back of the master cylinder, the tool was placed over the master cylinder studs the press was bought down to the tool to stop the spring from taking off a socket may have to go over the master cylinder rod to prevent it being damaged, then you just pull on the arm of the tool twist it left slowly release the pressure of the press and it should come apart. If you look at your video time stamp 4.19 you can see the top of the booster there is a tang if you look closely you can see it can turn to the left about an inch and a quarter. You will also see if you look from the master cylinder end that if twist it there are small scallops in the front cover and when twisted the inch and a quarter they will align with pressings in the rear cover eliminating the need for you having to bend the dimples you mentioned at time stamp 4.57. Good luck
Hey Pete, hydroboost in Echuca did the booster in my XB for $400. Terry is a great fella.
If you get a lead on those rear side window seals let us know, I've been on the hunt for 4 years and the 3 people I've met so far with these wagons told me not to remove those windows if you can help it, because they can't find replacements either.
Keep the clutch master cylinder! Original PBR ones are worth a fortune
Hey mate, who's doing your plating ?
All good just seen the plug
Ned would be chuffed knowing they named a color after him. Where's the Sigma, I didn't see it in the shed ?
is that for an XD spac round spot lights ? if it is that doesnt look right pete , 🤔i can look at mine for you if you like
Hey Pete, what brand of acrylic were you using? Great work mate
Pete, I was looking in the factory HQ manual there is a section in it that describes how to service the brake booster and an excellent picture of the tool to separate the two halves of the booster eliminating the need for a press the tool looks pretty basic. If you have a factory XC manual it should be in there. So if your interested send me your Email and I can send you a picture of the tool.
@@rayvreman2002 yes please mate… I have a rough idea of what to make, but any assistance is well appreciated haha. The email address is suzieandpeteranderson@gmail.com cheers
Hi Peter, just out of interest where is your country property? I'm looking at find a reasonably priced large property to house my cars but all seem to be very expensive. Would be great to see a video just on the property and what your plans are with it. Underground garage for 30 cars would be great!
I reckon you will be able to sort the booster out if you can get the overhaul kit and an exploded diagram from a Ford parts manual. You have restored more complex things than this.
That tree looks very similar to a crab apple tree Pete
Column auto on a v8, for some reason on the xc update model the one with the xd floor pan a lot of the 6 cylinder in that model the factory ran the v8 auto behind the 6, they have a cross over linkage that bolts to the bottom of the auto so a linkage runs from the Column to that linkage which in turn goes under the box to shift the box on the left side, and for the xa ford put out a collision repair manual which is invaluable when fixing a xa, I have only seen for an xa, don't know if they did them for any other model, I went to office works to photo copy mine for you but got busted by the staff and was asked to leave, but with you being a teacher check around the tafe college as they had them in the apprentice training department department.
Sorry meant to add that it was the xc update that has the V8 auto behind the 6cyl
got kelly green sedan .
Nice ando
IM Near Bnnockburn 5k pete
possibly have a xa booster in reasonable condition, contact me if your interested peter .
Hey Pete your gutters on the shed need cleaning out
