      @Spoons7414 6 років тому +1

      Skull Full Different things work for different fighters. I’m naturally right handed and I grew up fighting with my right foot forward. Even when I started actual boxing. To me that was more comfortable. I had to learn to fight orthodox which earned my a lot of beatings but now I’m comfortable either way which throws a lot of guys off when you change angles. I’m too much of a slob now to actually compete though I just train to stay in shape these days.

    • @chreyzor

      Same with Dela Hoya. His jab was so sweet because he's left handed and Cotto'a left hooks are lethal because he's left handed too

    Lomachenko is just too precise with all his movements everything has a purpose. He trains each twitch of the muscle each reaction all the intricate details, everything is just so fluid it’s a dual offense- defense. He is so relaxed and has high levels of awareness and sensitivity. He truly is a grandmaster of boxing without a doubt. Thank you Shaun for this video we need more footage like this! I subscribed bro

    Good video, and good analysis. When I used to compete in Karate, we would train feet against hands, and then vice versa, to sharpen them up. This is a great variation on that, and it's another reason why Loma is as good as he is. Too many people just spar all out, and never take the time to realize what may be a hole in their game, until they're in a fight, and it's too late. Good stuff.

    Fantastic video. You got a subscribe. Everything you said was spot on, and I can tell you've actually boxed before unlike some of the clowns who make content on UA-cam (I'm looking at you, Ellie Nutsack). I've done conditioned sparring before, but only ever with one hand, with all shots allowed. In this video Lomachenko's only allowed the left jab and he still throws 100 punches per round. The fitness alone is incredible, but the fact that he's facing Denys Berinchyk, who won silver medals at both the Olympics and World Championships at LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT, is even more impressive. This guy is two divisions above him, and Lomachenko is making him look like an amateur. If any of us faced Berinchyk in the ring, the boot would be on the other foot. We'd be beaten all over the ring from start to finish. But Lomachenko is putting on a clinic with one hand. Unbelievable.

      Shaun Fitt...this is definitely an old school drill. Today's fighters , along with their trainers , have bought into this "new scientific" approach. Which isn't always good for boxing.

    • @davesmith826
      @davesmith826 6 років тому

      Conditioned sparring has been around a lot longer than the 1980s. Jack Blackburn was training the great Joe Louis in one-hand fighting in the 1920s. coxscorner.tripod.com/blackburn.html

    • @davesmith826
      @davesmith826 6 років тому

      My own thought on one-hand fighting is this: if you've got a weak punch, sloppy technique or a slack throw, the quickest and most efficient way to improve it is to get in the ring and throw only that punch with someone who punishes your mistakes. Once bitten, twice shy: you soon learn the error of your ways.
      But you can do the same routine on the heavy bag, on the mitts and in shadow boxing. I routinely do 30-30-30 (another old school drill) with only one hand. It's killer cardio but more importantly it builds speed, power and accuracy for a specific shot. A lot of boxers today would benefit from these old school methods. Ali and Frazier fought for 15 rounds in unairconditioned halls, and neither of them ever chugged a protein shake, wore a high-altitude mask, or spent time in a sub-zero cooling chamber!

  • @leedavis8924
    @leedavis8924 2 роки тому

    you said it well!!!! I would elaborate that he weights the jab that stops an advance. a slight "sit down to push a wall" in a split second is a weapon to the body or head/hands. you said that discourages them advancing and I couldn't agree more. but that takes practice and trust in your developed skill. I love watching a skilled boxer who understands that weapon! obviously gotta have skill and power to start. lol probably not gonna walk in the gym with that unscathed if you aren't aware of thr return on missed.

    The other boxer that loma is sparring with, is using a boxing style that is hard against someone with a slick and fast, well timed and calculated jab that loma is using. Mainly because the whole body rotates with the head to dodge the punches and you need to unload that punch with speed and power, but since this is sparring it is rather hard to use that style without going overboard. Much like how Tyson’s peekaboo style is a bit odd to go slow and light with since it telegraphs rather easily until you add quick slips and fast speed to those movements, it makes devastating punches with that style. A bit disadvantageous but nevertheless it is the style that the partner uses and crafted his own way, just interesting to see from and outside view.

      You should also train on the heavy bag with one hand and do conditioned sparring (what Lomachenko is doing here). But you should NEVER drop the hand you don't use or pull it behind your back. The hand you don't use needs to be glued to your chin (not literally of course) until you throw it or block with it. Anything else is a bad habit.

      Dave Smith and why is that mister dick head? This is a common thing trainers do with their boxers (when people drop their hand), idont see putting one hand behind your back while sparring helping, you cant practice defence and you can pick up the habbit to drop your hand, i was trying to give some advise you bitch.

    LOMO Trivia: Which fight did Lomo win ( As A Pro) with one Hand, by knock out :)
    BTW, Great Clip ! keep up the great work.
    When was this video shot? This is not a sparring session, its just a workout, and I would think, due to the oversized gloves, that he's working to build that right shoulder back up ( the one he had surgery on)
    Really great clip. great commentary
    Thanks :)
