No handgun or ANY gun will save your family's life in the absence of a warrior's mentality on your part, a willingness to live in the now with no substance impediments, fully aware of your surroundings, and trusting yourself to use deadly force if the situation demands it. Thread that loop and it doesn't MATTER what hand gun you have.

@@samuelmorado70 Hi Samuel. I bought a KelTec7 and I prefer using minis. However, it does NOT always cycle thru, and have to double slide to use it. 3rd. generation I believe, and it sucks they don't have it working correctly every time. SO.....home protection with this KelTec7 12 Ga w/Buckshot is out of the question. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr wasted my money on this.

Poor review of the Beretta 92fs. One of the safest pistols out there. The decocking safety is real nice. I also like how easy it is to clean and disassemble. It is very accurate and has lasted for me for over a decade so far. I also have two .45's a S&W M&P Shield and a Sig mini1911. The Sig is getting sold. Terrible safety on it.

Sig 226 is just a great pistol all the way around! I have had it in 9mm & 40cal. but preferred my 9mm. I regret trading it away! I have reliably carried Sigs 938 “Rosewood” as my edc during weekdays for over a decade now and is a wonderful small reliable carry gun with the Desantis leather mini scabbard holster and hardly can tell its on my belt behind my right side. I want to try the Sig 365 9mm next purchase in some configuration. My nightstand/weekend carry is my beautiful crafted SS Kimber Raptor ll in 45 acp I wanted for years but pricey so took me awhile to save for it. Lay-a-way (just a suggestion) helped me get it over time. I carry it in Galco’s “Miami Classic” shoulder holster with Wilson Combat 47D mags has ALWAYS been my reliable go to. I will always be a 1911/45acp fan call me old fashioned or whatever but proven time and time again. Sig 226 in 9mm is something I will always be looking for if it has a good price; it is hard to beat. I still have my 1st gun I purchased in 94’ on 21st B-Day and still have it and has “NEVER” failed once and that was my Gen2 G17 I will never let go of for sentimental reasons. It is perfection with upgraded trigger and sights!#Sig#226#9mm@BO GYI

I prefer my 1911s. I have a choice from Springfield Ronin, Colt Commander, 2 Les Baers, and 1 Ed Brown. All in God's caliber, .45 Auto. All to be loaded with 200-230 grain +P JHP. also have the FN FNX .45. 15 rounds of .45 per magazine. Can't argue with that. Can be double action/single action 🤮 or dedicated single action, cocked and locked.
Yes, I have 9mm taking night stand duty. Sa35 (Browning HP clone) and my HK VP9. Loaded with 124 grain +P JHPs. Never 147 grain JHP. All you're getting with the 147 grain bullet is a .38 special in semi auto dress. A 124 grain +P is almost a .357 magnum from a 2.5-3 inch barrel ballistics.

@P Tigris If you get a piece of 1911 junk, then they are jammamatics. If you have the bucks for a well made 1911, they work very well. That's why the FBI HRT and SWAT teams use Springfield Custom Pro 1911s. They are costly, but they have been tested to fire thousands of rounds in all conditions without any malfunctions. LAPD SWAT and SIS also use 1911s. US Special Forces also used 1911s and Delta Force used them for 20 years until they went to Glock as they had shot out all their 1911 in their armory. But I guess you know more than they all know combined. Or more likely you're one of the poors who can't afford a good 1911 and could only get 3rd world made junk.

12 gauge. 1 shot is like sending 10 rounds of 9mm downrange at once. Don't even have to bring it up all the way to aim. Just point downrange. No need to worry about a second round from a pistol because the noise scared you. Buy the time you react to the noise of the shotgun, either the danger is dead, dieing, or running like hell

You make good recommendations here. I would like to add the IWI Masada to your list. IWI lists it as a full size service pistol though, with a 4.1” barrel it is more on the Glock 19 size but it does have 17 + 1 capacity, IWI’s reputation for battle field reliability and a budget friendly $400 street price. The Masada is my edc. I am 70 years old at 6’1” with the Masada weighing in at just 24oz empty so with the right holster, you have a multi purpose pistol.

I own one and my hands are not large and I can reach the safety/de-cocker lever very easily without moving my grip. I can do this with either my thumb or my index finger as the safety lever is ambidextrous. This is also the only gun I have ever owned that will chamber a spent round and my Sig 226 and 229 would not do that. Just my experience but I do not see how a grown person could not reach the lever easily. Obviously just my opinion. Be safe.

I wouldn't have a 9mm for home defense just on the fact the 9mm round is made for penetration factors that will kill anyone behind your target. Inside my home I'm using a .45 because it's designed around a heavy projectile that is designed to enter the target and throw it out of your way. US troops had 38 pistols that were ineffective against enemies unless you put multiple rounds in a target so the .45 was created to knock down targets. Delta Force used the .45 in dealing with hostage situations to kill bad guys and not the hostages.

A revolver might be best for home defense. That way you don't have to worry about limp wristing the thing during an extremely stressful self defense situation. There is a video on UA-cam where a police officer is ambushed by a criminal. The officer was immediately wounded and was only able to limp wrist his semi-auto pistol. Thankfully he was able to manually cycle it with each round and took out the bad guy that way. But he was LUCKY the bad guy was a bad shot. A revolver would have eliminated that problem. I'm thinking of buying an eight round .22 revolver. Lots of shots without over penetration.

Lots wrong with this video. He talks about 1st time Gun owners yet is throwing around specs and options that they don't understand. Do agree full size high capacity 9mm is probably a good option. But people wanting to get into firearms for home and personal defence should first have the right mindset Be prepared to take as many lives as you have to in self defence with no hesitation whatsoever. Otherwise you may land up being disarmed and getting shot with you're own firearm. Once you fully on board then get proper professional instructions on firearm competency as well as combat shooting etc etc. Shoot as many Guns as you can of different calibers and get the one you shoot best and feel comfortable with. Then once you understand how the different makes and models work then you can start comparing things like amunition availability etc . Unless you are absolutely broke, cost should never factor into any decision you make on purchasing a weapon for self defence. Choose only from top quality proven manufacturers. The day you need it you will need it to work everytime you pull the trigger. And don't buy into the myth of stopping power of a particular round or caliber. There is no such thing in balistics or science. Shot placement and proficiency as well as situational awareness and temperament is what it is all about to have a successful outcome. No guarantee that the outcome will be in you're favour, but if you train train train and know you're weapon and drills etc that is the best chance you have. More proficient competent gun owners are a good thing. Just do things the right way and join the good guy's.

I had the Ruger Redhawk in 44 mag. 7.5” barrel. Only time I had to pull it out the threat decided to vacate the premise before that artillery piece started doing the talking. The look on his face looking down that barrel told me I was safe and no need to pull the trigger😂😂😂😂😂

Why so much blah blah blah? Just choose among these: a Glock 19,17, 22, 23 or a Sig P229, or P226. That's it.

The ONLY firearm you listed that I would own is the Glock 17. No sense buying any of the others when the Glock price is reasonable, dependability is perfection, magazines available to qty 30 and beyond, and concealment is possible. And when SHTF.. Canik parts?? Not.

Recommending a firearm in 10mm to novices for home defense is, well, a disservice IMHO. Although a superb round a 9mm would be far more shootable and far less expensive than 10mm and even 40 S&W.

Without a doubt I can honestly say that I would never recommend as a first gun ANY AUTO, no matter the caliber. Most new handgun buyers have little or no experience shooting, unless they are or have been taking basic shooting courses from reputable trainers.
First guns should be quality revolvers chambered in 22 long rifle. And after several hundreds of range rounds, then the move to a center fire revolver. Then, after several hundreds of these rounds, the shooter is ready for their first semiauto handgun. Preferably in 22 long rifle. After gaining experience here, then and only then move into a center fire semiauto. Then the suggestion of a 9mm is a solid one. Only though, buy a name brand, high quality pistol. When you are betting your life on a gun, always buy the best gun you can afford.
Something else to consider for home protection is a quality 12 or 20 gauge, with a 20” barrel, pump action shotgun loaded with “00” Buck shot or # 1 or #2 shot. Nothing gets a person’s attention and intimidates like a shotgun.
Just my 5 cents worth of advice.
But whatever you buy, practice, practice, practice.
