TOILET TIP: If you need a toilet and the water is off, drain your toilet one last flush. Sponge out clean water in the bowl. Lift seat, place a plastic bag in your toilet, wrap over the rim. Close the lid. Sit down on your usual toilet. Remove the bag and dispose of, at your discretion. No need to sit on an emergency bucket if you don't have to.

Great tip! I like to have the emergency bucket in our basement, where there is no toilet, just in case we're down there for an extended amount of time

Questions: Why is it necessary to drain the bowl if you are using a plastic bag anyway? Also if your water is off, the water in the tank is as close to drinkable/usable water as you can get unless you have a super filter system - why would you want to drain that? Just curious...

We live out in the country and since our well pump is electric, we often have situations where we don't have electricity (or water) for hours to days at a time.
We keep multiple gallon jugs of tap water (rinsed-out empty milk jugs) in each bathroom and only flush when necessary.
We also keep jugs of water handy for filling dog bowls and rinsing things in addition to our stored drinking water.
Another thing we have found useful--available online--rechargeable lightbulbs. We have one in each area without windows to make navigation easier.

Your videos is a packed with information. So I could keep up I had to use the old skill of SHORTHAND to keep my notebook accurate. Pool Shock is a great tip. The bucket toilet good for car or RV if on the run who knows what we'll need.
      Thank you.

@@racheldeen3667 When your water is off, and you use your toilet 1 last time, your tank is empty. There will be a small amount of water in the bowl, which you can't flush out until your water comes back on. IF you place a bag in your toilet, the bag will go down in the possibly contaminated water. When you lift out your bag, you will be dripping the possibly contaminated water onto your floor & carpets.Unless you just cleaned and sanitized your bowl before your last flush, the several inches in your bowl will be contaminated even slightly where you wouldn't want to drink it.

We have kept extra toilet paper and paper towels for several years prior to 2019. Christmas of 2019 one son and DIL didn't know what to buy us or her mother for Christmas so they go us a case size of paper towels and toilet paper. Everyone laughed at the family Christmas but guess what we never had to buy during the great toilet paper shortage in 2020.

IF you have some time on your hands and concerned about water use and fuel consumption... you can reduce the amount of water used and energy needed to prepare pasta by pre soaking the pasta for about 2 hours , then the noodles are more or less soft and have absorbed some of the water , just heat for about 1/3 of the time you'd normally boil pasta and eat.

Learn to grow fresh crops for the enzymes. One can't even blink without enzymes :)~. Beans are an incomplete protein. And it's the gliaden in the gluten in Wheat and other grains that causes fals DNA signaling. Baiscally your cells are replicated a little more warped than they usually would be. Not to mention diabetes and other disease that we do not one during a SHTF situation!

I work at a Walmart. In your video you say Togo on line to order things that the store dose not have that is a great thing to do but keep in mind if you do have it sent to your store to pickup that way you don’t pay for shipping and if you are like most of us that little bit of savings can add up and help out a lot keep an eye out after each holiday when it goes on sale like blankets to keep worm with your fire logs and fire starter charcoal all kinds of stuff to prep think outside the box

I spent 18 months without any electricity 🔌. I have watched many videos of folks talking about what is needed in a power outage and most of what they say is inaccurate or unrealistic. Yours is the best video on this topic that I have seen bar none! I had to learn most of what you are sharing the hard way, many cold nights , no way to cook food, etc. I learned what was needed along the way and I can say that if people listen to you they will be in a far better position to survive. Having a way to heat water to wash your body and clothes, to cook a hot meal, and to stay warm is everything. Thank you so much for this very informative video.

Coleman camp shower (thick black plastic bag) heats water in the sun for a quick shower. Other options could be giant plastic shake or giant food containers in black set out in the sun to heat. These are what we used to heat water when we were without hot water for a week after SuperStorm Sandy.

For people who have access to milking cows or goats, a candy thermometer to make sure you have gotten it high enough to pasteurize. Waterproofing supplies if there's a leak. Thank you.

Also bring your calculator. I was at Walmart last week and saw this amazing unit price on the canned beef (2.50lb). Instead of the two I had planned to add to my stores I thought maybe I need to get them all at this price. Wait a second. If the 12 oz can is over $4 it is not $2.50 a pound. I broke out the calculator and it was closer to $6 a pound. I did still get my 2 but not the case I was ready to buy at 2.50 a pound.

Great video! I have almost all of them. Besides the Coleman stove, I also bought a small charcoal grill and over the past year (when it was much cheaper), I stocked up on charcoal. I did realize a few weeks ago that I didn't get lighter fluid! It's on my list!
A portable toilet is also something I need to look in to. I do have a urinal (yes, they make them for women), and it always botheted me that in 45 years as a nurse, I never saw one in the hospital for female patients. We ( yes, I have been a patient, too) always had to deal with a bedpan, which migjt not be a bad thing in case someone is incapacitated.

I live in a very small Georgia town but next to a military post (largest one east of Mississippi. Our little town boasts a super WM, and 2 neighborhood markets. 2 Dollar Trees, 4 Dollar General within 10-15 minutes driving, Family Dollars so buying on a budget isn't hard. I keep a price journal so I know where the best prices are and plan my shopping trip accordingly. To be frugal you really need to know prices AND package sizes.

First time posting here. Recently found your channel and I LOVE it. Thank you for all your do. This is a wonderful video. I have to hit replay and take notes. I have learned so much by watching you. What a wealth of information. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe ! I live in Alabama. I gave up my dream home to bring my horses home instead of boarding in a show barn. I love having them home with us. We live on a farm now with 18 1/2 acres. I want to start a garden. I just bought some canning items from Walmart and I am watching many videos on UA-cam to learn how to can. One of my biggest concerns is storing enough water for the horses and dogs. THANK YOU AGAIN ~

I’m hooked on your channel…. I’ve been a subscriber but I’m binge watching it.
YOU, my dear, have very reasonable opinions on HOW to start to prep, WHY we should start to prepare, WHERE we can find various items, WHAT are different shelf stable foods from 1 year-5year-20 to 30 year.
PLUS…. Making a Menu Plan with recipes.
    Not excluding
GENIUS meals in a Jar…. I REALLY cannot wait to see more of these.

I ate a lot of15 bean soup growing up. You can put it over rice ,lentils or quinoa. Also, you can separate out of the broth...but don't throw it away. It's a good starter for a Buddha bowl without the broth.

Thank you for the great advice. I would also suggest that everyone research the brands of different products. Some product brands are all GMO. That would definitely be something to consider as well when choosing food products.

We just bought a little coleman stove like you have and had to visit 4 different WM to get 11 cans of butane. but we now feel prepared . I would just like to add that getting Himalayan, Celtic or Real salt is the better way to go than iodized salt, it is better for you.

Be a little careful with long term storage of the Apple versions of instant oatmeal, for some reason I've found some type of bug infestation in sealed packets of that variety, not the others like maple or raisin and spice or plain but the versions with apples even in a variety pack, different brands, same thing some type of bugs.(alive and seemingly happy). But these were past the best buy date.

Hi Jara! Again, great information....and I STILL say you would have been a GREAT Home-Ec teacher! I can see you bringing a class to Walmart and teaching them just what you showed today! I have two Walmart's pretty close...one is only a mile and a half from me and the one a little further, 11 miles but only 17 minutes to drive and it is bigger and much nicer. I also buy a lot of Nido even tho it is a little more expensive but I think better. Thanks as always....I have missed a few videos lately bc very busy myself making sure everything is in order.....🛒
