Painting on Wood with SPRAY PAINT - MDF Spray Paint Art
Вставка

- Hi guys! Thank you for watching this Spray Paint Art on MDF. So for this spray painting I've decided to spray paint a space painting on MDF wood, which is a medium-density fiberboard the size of the wood is 45 cm by 32 cm and not 45 inches by 32 inches like i said in the video.
I didn't prep the wood before spray painting it as i wanted to see how well the MDF would take the spray paint. I was very surprised at how well the paint went on the MDF wood and really happy with the end result.
I hope you will enjoy watching this spray painting art, If so please consider subscribing to my channel, and don't forget to hit the bell so you know when i upload new video's and please LIKE and SHARE the video it'll be much appreciated :)

never mind i just looked a a video and some info on melamine, its not a paint friendly item.
Hi Laura, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and suggestion I really appreciate it : ) Melamine might work with spray paint tho, I may give it a try if i can get some, and then see if it would work with spray paint :)
Ooh, this is so cool. I actually have some scraps of this laying around!
Hi Bizzymuma, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :) Yeh i had some spare off cut bits, so i thought why not have a go on a one to see how well it would work and something a little different to paint :)

Hi Ash, Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to leave this great comment and feedback i really appreciate it :)
I always paint on wood and sheetrock...the thing is if you don't think the paint will stick to it or you think the wood will soak it up to fast then put a layer of white paint down let it dry and boom you can now paint on wood or whatever you want ive painted of many different wood surfaces
Hi Anubis, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and suggestion i appreciate it :) Yes i was going to give it a coat before i started but decided i wanted to see how it was like with out doing it, I think it worked out really good :)

Hi Caralyn, Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :)
This is awesome Jon! I figured MDF would really suck the paint up. But you're results are amazing!!
Hi Modonna, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :) Yes i thought it would soak the paint up a lot more then it did, I'm really happy the way it took the paint too and the end result was a lot better then i expected, I think i will be doing some more on MDF in the future :)
Hi Armour, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this informational comment i appreciate it :)
Love the artwork though
Hi K.A Haugen, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :)
Another super video. Was that clear coat that you sprayed on at the end, and if so was the painting completely dry first? I've been gathering my stuff and can't wait to try spray painting your easier ones first.Thank you for sharing.
Hi Sopiha, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, question, and the feedback, I really appreciate it :) Yes it was a clear coat i put on at the end :) i spray the clear coat as soon as i finish the painting so the painting is still wet as i spray the clear coat on hope this helps :) Cool, if you need to know anything just ask :)
That looks so cool
Hi Natashia, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :)

Fantastic art as always Jon, did you use a primer or anything on the mdf before you started?
Hi Tony, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this great comment, feedback and question i really appreciate it :) No I didn't do anything to it, i just put it on the table and sprayed it :) hope this helps :)
excellent, i might be as good as u 1 day.
Hi Christopher, Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :)
Where would I get the blue bags? They seem to texture differently then magazines.
I use stuff like this and a plastic dogie bag will do.
@@georgetsivikas5198 yeah I was thinking about going to my local park and just taking like 30 lol
Hi Certified, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) They are big plastic bags that i cut up, i don't know anything about them apart from they are a plastic bag as i got them from a old workplace, They were throwing them in a skip so i took them before they went in :)
Hi George, Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback it's much appreciated :) Yeh any plastic will work , Also different plastic leave different textures depending what type it is or if it's thick or thin you can get some good effects from it :)
@@JonBarberArt ty.
In my opinion... would 'seal' it first.. due to MDF is porous.... just with a 'background' sealer... depending on which color you like ...
Hi K.A Haugen, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and suggestion i really appreciate it :) Yes i was thinking so sealing it first but decided i wanted to try it with out to see how much the MDF would soak in, it wasn't that much to be honest, the next time i paint MDF i may seal it 1st to see if it makes a difference tho :)
Interesting techniques! Beautiful painting!
Hi Kirsi, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :)
Epic art on Wednesday I get my mask then I can do this cool art any tips for a first timer
Umm what things do u use for the planets
Hi Dukey, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) I have a beginners tutorial series on my channel maybe that might help you out with things :) The things i use for my planets are just old food tub lids which are round hope this helps :)
Thank u
No problem Dukey, Happy to help :)
How do the bowls not rip up the paint you’ve just laid down? Is it super fast drying or something?
Cos then that makes me wonder how you can lay down the plastic and get that effect?
I just tried to do my own one for the time and it looks good but the bowl lifted up the paint around the edges of the planet and now I’m wondering if this is a spray and wait game?
I’m lost
Hey Jon, first of all thank you very very much for your videos. Quick question here, your paint seems to be a lot more "powdery" than any I can seem to find here, I live in a place that is year round cold ish, would that have anything to do with it?,
Hi Gabriel, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, question, and feedback, it’s really appreciated :) I do find if the paint is too cold then the cans don't spray very good in cold weather, when i paint in the cold i warm the cans up so they spray better, try warming your cans up if they are cold this way they will work better :) hope this helps :)
Hi Jon...thanx for this good job...very amazing on MDF...but did u make it smooth before painting on ?
Hi Bille, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and question i really appreciate it :) No I didn't do anything to it, i just put it on the table and sprayed it :) hope this helps :)
@@JonBarberArt thanks for your feedback...I really appreciate! Waiting for other creations.

No problem Bille, Happy i could help :)
Is that 1/2" or 3/4 MDF??? For 'framing' purposes..... In my own opinion 1/4" would be the best... for framing... cause have to include... glass... painting... then backer... to be inclosed in a simple 3/4 in frame...
Hi K.A Haugen, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and suggestion i really appreciate it :) I think it was 18mm MDF , I don't think it would need framing if using thick MDF, I would hang it on the wall as it is like a canvas would hang :)
what kind of plastic do you use for lifting the paint?
Hi Cecil, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment and question I really appreciate it :) the plastic is from large bags that i cut up so i can use, hope this helps :)
Hello Jon, I use the Montana gold cans, same as you but they tend to leave a rough texture on my gloss paper rather than smooth. And even when I finish it off with a clear coat, it still looks rough with no shine. Could that be due to the humidity where I live? It rains here everyday. Also, what is the name of the clear coat you are using? Thanks
Hi Frank, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) Do you shake your cans up for 2 mins or more ? I shake mine up but sometimes i find if the weathers too hot it can produce a lot of dust on the sheet which then when you clear coat it, it'll look rough, is that what happens to you, were you getting a lot of dust on the sheet, I myself prefer to spray paint when it's around 12-15 degrees and a little overcast. The clear coat is from the Montana range, Hope this helps you out :)
Jon Barber Art thanks for the response, I think I actually figured out the issue. If I hold the can too far from the paper the paint actually dries in the air before it lands on the paper. Also I don’t seem to have much luck with the standard gold caps that come with the Montana cans. Where do you get the white caps that you use?
No Problem Frank, Happy to response back, Yes that's what happens to me sometimes too, too far away and warm weather = some dust. Yes same here i don't like the standard caps, they don't seem to work that well for spray paint art but are OK when doing large painting, I got the white caps form of the internet months ago, all they said on it, that they were skinny caps hope this helps :)
Hi Jon how are you going. Love how your painting turned out on MDF good move, now I really need to send you an e-mail, with a suggestion??? If that's ok.
Hi Lyndall, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and feedback i really appreciate it :) I'm good thank you and yourself? Yes that's fine to send a e-mail :)
can this also be done on canvas??
Hi Mateo, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) Yes you could do this on a canvas :)
The first green you use...what colour and brand is it?
Montana idk the specific color though. You could most likely just scroll through and find one you like
Hi Rinzi, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) The paint is Montana gold and is Smaragd Green hope this helps :)
Hi Certified, Thank you very much for answering Rinzi comment i appreciate it :)
What spray do you use in the 19:50
Hi Κλεανθης Μπαρας, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) The last thing i spray on the painting is a clear coat hope this helps :)
