I absolutely admire Clint's love for old hardware. I grew up with all of these classic computers when they were new! My first computer was a Tandy CoCo Model 1, with that horrible chiclet keyboard, and a WHOPPING 4K of RAM!! Woohoo!! But I was exposed to so much during the late 70's through the 80's, and my most loved, and to this day, most missed computer setup was my ole Atari 520ST! I had it upgraded to 4Megs of RAM, 2 external 720k 3.5" floppy drives, 2 SCSI 240MB Micropolis HDD's in an XT case, built and customized by a good friend I've known for 35 years, both Color and Monochrome monitors, with a monitor switcher, a customized sound system (also designed and built by that same friend) with independent volume controls for all sorts of devices, an Epson 24 pin Dot Matrix printer, and a Yamaha MIDI keyboard! (And hundreds of 3.5" floppies with, um, obtained software on them!)
Man, those were the days, and watching Clint's videos brings back so many great memories!

I also attended in 2019 and remember meeting you at that event. You nailed it with your description as well, but the primary thing I like about it is that everyone is so happy to be there and it creates very positive energy. Sure, it's about nostalgic feelings and stuff, but it's not like a lot of other tech conferences that you might go to for work reasons and are a bit more mundane. At the VCF festivals, everyone is in their element and wants to talk and just hang out, answer questions and loving every moment of it. It creates a great atmosphere that adds to the nostalgia in a way that watching videos on UA-cam or playing with emulators and old components doesn't do. Unfortunately I couldn't make it up this year, but might try again in 2022. Maybe with a table as well.

Nice! I was the guy with the PC/XT at 15:20. The really cool thing about that display was that the whole stack (with 3 monitors, not just the lovely amdek, and 8 floppy drives) was all driven off that one XT. I used the Hercules+CGA trick to get two normal displays, and I also have an IBM Professional Graphics Controller driving the third monitor (which should be a 5175 but those are rarer than hens teeth so I substitute a VGA monitor with an adapter). And yes, the case badge was one you gave me at VCFMW '19.
Funny thing was, while it's awesome, the XT wasn't even meant to be the main attraction; that was supposed to be the D-116 minicomputer just around the corner, with its wondrous blinkenlights and output to the ASR33 teletype, but the power supply emitted the magic smoke on Friday night.
Would've loved to talk you through all the things I've done to that XT, but it looks like we just missed each other. Ah well, maybe next year ; )
