I was introduced to probiotics when Rags was going through all of his surgeries to figure out the tumor on his liver. He was given antiobiotics for all his surgery recovery and consequently, the antiobiotics killed both the bad and good bacteria in his stomach. So we had to replace the good bacteria with probiotics for cats. Recently, I was reminded of their importance when Charlie was having diarrhea shortly after his dosage of antibiotics following his health scare.
Purina Fortiflora for cats is a nutritional supplement that contains microencapsulated form of Enterococcus probiotic. Enterococcus probiotic helps to manage diarrhea or unhealthy stools and helps to restore normal intestinal health and balance. Fortiflora also contains protein, vitamins, minerals. As you can see in the video below, I simply rip open the packet and then sprinkle it on the canned cat food.
I also like to use this when we are transitioning to a different food or trying out a new food to keep the diarrhea at a minimum.

That's the stuff my vets sent me home with when I had to give my kitty antibiotics. She loved it, but she's not a super picky eater to begin with

I actually don't have a microwave either for that very reason! I'm glad I'm not the only one. People are amazed but thats how I've always been. Do you eat your leftovers cold too? When I feed my cat I run the tap like you do until its warm enough to mix in her food :)
What kind of food is that? Looks really good.
I would be concerned about water straight from the tap. Some city waters have more contaminants than others. I would slightly boil filtered water if I were to add more water to canned food.
Do you only give this after or also during a round of antibiotics??
do you think it’s okay to mix this in a serving of one of those frisky squeezey tubes? that’s the only way mine will eat a supplement since we only use dry food. i also give mine another powder supplement, viralys, this way, but it doesn’t help with the runny poops.
lol @ mouse body temp! i do the warm water now too and sometimes they won't eat their cat food. it's like they can't smell it as much or something. i've been putting in a little less. i love charlies face when you get ready to put the food down, he looks so cute. this is off topic but i see you have your salt lamp in the kitchen. is that a good place for them? i have one in my bedroom and one in the living room but never thought about the kitchen.
