Fun fact: Taylor Sheridan considers Sicario (and his other two films), Hell or High Water, and Wind River a trilogy though none of the characters are connected. The connection that all three movies share is that they have a take on different issues in the US.

Obviously he left the maid alive. He ignored her entirely. Also with the torture scene it was left up to the audience's imagination of what actually happened. It was interesting to see where your imagination went. No, Del Toro's character isn't a cartel boss now. He's at war with them.

There wasn't nothing to imagine he was legit raping him The sounds of him moaning gave it away; that was the only thing to take from that scene, he definitely wasn't forcing a blowjob out of him for he wasn't going to risk getting his penis bitten off so the only thing left to do was to flip him out of his seat and (forgive my speech) clap those cheeks,
It's truly a disgusting moment and a low point for the character!🤢🤮💯😉👍

The writing of Alejandro telling Kate that she would be committing suicide while having HER OWN gun on her is great. That means if she didn't sign then she would be found alone with her gun with her fingerprints since Alejandro wore a glove.
I like the dinner scene with the cartel family because they spoke in English since the boys didn't understand it, shielding their innocence from some of the cartel boss's crimes, but when Alejandro said it's time to meet God he said it in Spanish. He was saying it to the boys not the cartel boss, because he knew the boss was going to Hell when he dies or to just add split second dread to the boss.

They were both in Afghanistan back in 2001, 2002, but when Iraq started SEAL Team 6 got Afghanistan and Delta Force got Iraq. It simplified command structure. It’s why SEAL Team 6 got bin Laden and why Delta got al-Baghdadi. When this film was made, it should be SEAL Team 6 coming back from Afghanistan, not Delta. They’re both pretty much the same, don’t fool yourself. The SEALs have more underwater demolitions training and Delta emphasizes overland navigation but when it comes to something like this they can both accomplish the mission no problem. They both recruit from their respective branch’s special operations forces. JSOC is one big happy family, the rivalry doesn’t exist. And they all work closely with the CIA, and each other.

@@fakecubed what are we talking about here? “Seal Team 6” that’s funny. DevGru & Delta all have different charters. All I’m saying is in this film the CIA used Delta operators. That’s all. The CIA ran intel on UBL but they were not in control of that raid. That was a military operation. Hence DevGru was used. When the CIA uses a military unit, they only use Delta. That’s just a fact. Seal team 6 is a downgrade from Delta. That’s just another fact. DevGru promotes up to Delta operators. No Delta operators promote down to DevGru or Seal Team 6. You read a lot of propaganda. Hell, I wasn’t even in the Army or Navy & I know this. I was just an infantry Marine, unit 3/5 Dark Horse. In Fallujah 1 & 2. This was all common knowledge when I got out. Maybe things have changed but the fact is, the CIA only uses ex delta contractors or active delta operators. That’s that. If times have changed, ok. Yet I’m not gonna take it from a UA-cam comment. Take care. I’ve never seen Seals use Apache gunships before either. Neither have I ever seen Seals be allowed to run with the FBI, U.S Marshals service or the DEA. Yep, "sicario" is the Spanish word for "hitman". As the language evolved from Vulgar Latin, the word comes from "sicarius", which in principle were members of an extremist branch of cloak-and-dagger Jewish zealots who killed Romans and Roman sympathizers. It eventually evolved into a general term for "murderer" and nowadays it is a term specifically for anyone involved in contract killing.

At the beginning the FBI team made a huge mistake that almost takes you out of the movie but they recovered nicely once in the house. The mistake was choosing black tactical outfits to the house raid. They should have worn tan which would have been what they would have chose in real life. Maybe for the movie black was the only color available

They simply made a bad mistake tactically because 100% of the time a unit will wear camo, it’s a no brainer. If there is a look out who isn’t paying attention he could still see black gear against the tan sand background while if they are wearing camo they would be harder to see hence giving the targets a big surprise when they arrive. 12:22 The commentary on the Blu Ray said that among the missing persons posters on the wall past Alejandro's head in this shot are posters for his wife and daughter. I froze and zoomed the frame, and none of the people look like a child, so either they were BS'ing when they said that, or Alejandro's daughter was an adult, or close to becoming one, when the cartel took her. Considering Benicio Del Toro was 47 when "Sicario" was filmed, Alejandro's daughter being full grown is entirely plausible.

HERE'S an interesting perspective. When Ed Calderon completed his training, the first task he was given as a cop in Mexico was to bring boltcutters to a scene and use them to cut the chains off of some bodies a cartel had hung from a bridge. One of the veteran cops said that the cartel was being merciful, and when Calderon asked him "How is THIS merciful?" the veteran replied "They're letting the families have the bodies to grieve over." That was an eyeopener.

What Alejandro was referring to at the end was that with certain enemies like cartels and terrorists that don't follow rules of conduct or ethics in combat sometines in order to effectively fight back on their level you must be wiling to play by their rules. Essentially, with no rules, at the very least around the edges. As a nation of laws this puts us at a strategic and tactical disadvantage but Alejandro knows that Beth did not have it in her to do this and she would not survive in that world. Denis Villenueve is such a great director, his attention to detail is incredible. He did 2 foreign films to ignite his career, Polytechnique and Incendies, which were both great. The rest is history and he is world renowned as one of the greatest directors along with Spielberg, Cameron, Fincher and Scorsese. Sicario is brilliantly unsettling and such a gut punch of a film however, the sequel has a bit more action but lacks Denis Villeneuve's touch yet still good. It's interesting to me how almost every reactor seems to not get the torture scene with the water jar.
The guy with the glasses was making the prisoner drink lots of water, then alejandro comes in and starts punching the dude in the gut. If you've never been punched with a belly full of water, you have no idea how much that hurts.
The jar is to imply that he's gonna keep forcing the guy to drink for as long as he needs to torture him.
It's just punching, no blowjob or waterboarding required.

If Blunt was a veteran FBI agent working the border for years, she would’ve immediately recognized who Matt Graver was, and why she was needed for the operation.
