Ebert trying to explain why he gives Thumbs Up for Oliver & Co is awesome. I really miss these two. I watched them every week. Today's UA-cam movie critics are worthless. They give favorable reviews or apologize for negative reviews because they are afraid no one will watch if they give negative reviews. Siskel and Ebert didn't give a hoot.
I think Ebert's point about animated dinosaur movies is valid. All the hype for Disney's CG Dinosaur came from the initial trailer, which involved wordless storytelling and kind of gave the idea that the whole film would be like that.
To be fair the catholic church does have a lot that doesn't exactly make them spotless. Tacit condoning of the slave trade, policy of non-involvement during the holocaust, relocation of pedophile priests to other parishes rather than excommunicating them and removing them.

Child's Play is a very good movie, and I think it's because of that young actor Alex Vincent and a Very Good Performance by Catherine Hicks, she really held this movie together because she was very smart in this movie and her love for her kid , I disagree with Siskel on this, Ms. Hicks was Excellent as the Mom in this one
man you can not overstate the importance of a musical having music that is actually good, i have seen plenty of musicals including popular ones that i never could get into because the songs were generic and boring. not sure i agree with Rogers belief that "The Land Before Time" would have been better or appeal to children more if the dinosaurs didnt talk. i was never a horror or slasher fan, the genres just never did anything for me. i wasnt offended or disgusted by those films like these two often were i just wasnt into them. but "Childs Play" in particular always really bothered me, because even if the doll is posseted by some awful evil person. it is still a like 1 foo tall doll that weighs like 3 or maybe 5 lbs, all i could ever thinking when watching all those Childs Play films was when he comes running at you you can just bunt him like 20 feet across the room. how does he even open a door if you simply just go into the room and lock the door, he doesnt have the weighed to bust through it and hes too short to even reach the handle. ugh i just didnt like those films.
that`s the problem with me and musicals is if you don`t like the music the film is boring....I never liked The Wall or Evita because I only liked one song from each so the rest of the movie I was bored....
"Oh my...................................................................... god" lol Last Rites has the honor of being on the list of films Ebert gave zero stars

I'm so glad that Ebert enjoyed Child's Play.

I'm happy they both recommended "The Land Before Time". I loved that movie as a kid. I was about to get all grumpy if they trashed it.

This is a great episode 👏🏾!
Right!? Kinda feel sorry for Sam Shepard. Ebert really blasted his film!
@@shombie2737 He deserves it, the movie is a humorless and boring mess that Shepard writes and directs.
Far North is one of the worst films I've seen. Child's Play is a genre classic though. 👍👍
@@5andup Yup.
Always liked Zuniga. Knew her mom back when.
THANK YOU Roger for speaking out against hollywood bashing the catholic church. Sick of seeing that. LOL @ Gene slapping down Roger's thumb haha.
I thought that was funny what Gene did.

@@Campbellzilla Good points. Unfortunately, people of all faiths have done horrible 😞 things.
@@Campbellzilla despite all this, trashing someone else’s religion as a cheap gimmick in a movie is not only poor and lazy writing, it’s tiresome

The depressing era of Disney when they looked like they would go out of business. As opposed to now when they're too successful.
