I was blessed to have Marcel Ophüls as my professor in a film class in 1973. He was kind, erudite and very interested in provoking thought via the films he showed for the class. A privilege to meet him!

Siskel gave a thumbsdown to Taxi Driver because of the shooting at the end, but Last Tango in Paris is one of the best films of the 70s? Siskel really was a closet sex hound. What a bad ass.
ha ha ... yeah that movie looked like trash. So did that other one they were talking about with the women rambling about female movie stars... what the hell was that sh#t? 😂 ... Ebert has his dumb moments too ... he gave thumbs down to Elephant Man
i am under no illusions that they would ever pick some of the films that are my favorites of the 70s, BUT my personal favorite film of all time of any decade happens to be a 70s film "The Warriors". and for me personally it absolutely creates its own world, a dark gritty alternate reality that absolutely absorbs me, the kind of world i want to visit through the safety of my screen and maybe be glad i dont actually live in. they named a handful of films i really liked particularly "Breaking Away". another personal favorites they didnt name would be the wonderfully paranoid and creepy 70s version of "The invasion Of The Body Snatchers" "
Tango is a Horrible film; u are warned (u know you're not allowed to return opened movies? I brought it back and told the manager i hated it and got a refund!)
Breaking Away is a masterpiece that probably cost under a million $ to make. It never gets old

Interesting that neither mentioned “Jaws” or “Star Wars.”
These are personal favourites, not popular box office hits....
Fassbinder was the greatest director of th 70s.
Nazi antisemitism was that you were Jewish by blood not by religion. 10:00
What is Take 2?
A second look at the films, that's all.
Annie Hall did nothing for me. Most of his films had that affect on me.
The Exorcist
Tango is a Horrible film; u are warned (u know you're not allowed to return opened movies? I brought it back and told the manager i hated it and got a refund!)
well, that's just your view 🧐
I feel the same about S&E and this show now as I did when I watched it as a kid....they had the best job in the world!!
