The realisation of this hits like a truck! These companies often boast about their 10-30 min services without taking in account that their delivery staff has to often travel in awful traffic conditions at unsafe speeds to meet their arbitrary rules. Really wish for better workspace norms for gig economy employees.

There is really something so flawed with how these delivery apps work. I always wonder about finding the location and how many workers struggle with that every single time. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be, and I do think delivery apps/this kind of techification makes us sympathize less and less by dehumanizing the workers.

What you're saying is just the tip of the iceberg I'll list more
1.if you deny 5 out of 150 orders your will be blocked, no more work
2.if you cancel order for any reason no matter what they'll charge 800-1500
    3. Team leader treats you like shit, if we complain them anything, they'll blame the delivery executive only & says it's companies policy
    4. For better badges you must work 7Pm-9Pm shift they don't care you worked from 7Am to evening 6Pm. You won't get proper badges unless you work 7pm to 9pm
5.Ratings we give to restuarants & customers won't make any difference, they're just for namesake. Customer is always right. They won't take any action
    6. If we complain to Zomato customer care, they'll give a generic response instead of solving issue
    7. suppose if the app says it's 3Km the original distance will be 5Km, if we complain they say it's app policy.
    8. Literally they're treating us like Trash & Slaves
    9. I stopped working them after joining 6 months back
    10. FOR Every 40 minutes we have to submit Selfies with bike/bag/t-shirt otherwise blocked
    11. If Zomato charges the customer ₹31 we only get ₹22 out of it, but they lie to customers, about giving all the money to the delivery partner.
    12. No matter what we must not complain about anything, otherwise, the I'd will be blocked & we'll have no work
    13. Restaurants ask us to write Zomato id, order id, phone number, before taking the order.
    14. Wrong distance calculation. We always end up traveling more distance than shown distance on App
    15. At the end of the gig they'll leave us 15-20Km away from the assigned area, so we've come back from those long distances to reach home.
    16. I don't know about Swiggy But Zomato treats delivery people like slaves

Employees in the gig industry must form their own Unions, if they haven't already, for workers' solidarity and to have their demands heard and met.
The consumers need to be magnanimous in their approach while dealing with such workers, as their work regime is extremely rigorous. A little late in delivery shouldn't be a reason for giving low ratings.
Lastly, post delivery, the consumer must send their feedback as well, for good or for worse. Sending feedback not only helps the workers, but also helps the employer to assess as to which employee is deserving of raise or reprimand.
P.S. Plaudits to the editing dept.

We liberlised our economy, privatised the businesses , just to put the system into hands of capitalist class.
With this new system unfolding, i am actually realising how exploitative market economy is.
Govt. Has refused to take care of the citizens. Left them at mercy of these "NEO ERA EAST INDIA COMPANY(EIC)".
These classes earn very little to take care of their family.
Funny thing is, service consumers are given option to judge their service and give feedback which decides their fate.
Companies do not have to worry as they are earning their share in profit and have reason to blame these GIG workers to poor service delivery , thanks to rating and feedback by customers.
I wonder how they run their home in these inflationary times.
I am worried how their kids study , How they access good health care and manage to pay medicine bills of elders , how they manage to eat 3 times square meal a day, how they access affordable electricity, water and gas connections, how they ensure a dignified life of themself and their loved ones.
