I bought it in the 70s and I wore it in the 70s. It was a very popular style. At the event she was given a lot of grief for not being 70s. She was the only one there actually wearing clothes from the 70s but the outfit didn't fit the preconceived notion that the others had. I think that's reason enough to wear what you want. Those people trying to judge are clueless anyway

if you’re in europe, charity shops (some have online sites) are also a great place to find vintage gems for really cheap, plus you’re helping people and staying sustainable! asos marketplace has vintage shops as well as vintage recreation shops in a range of prices

I'm doing it. Late Victorian - Edwardian. I had a problem finding shoes and boots. I just found a great place called American Duchess. Well made footwear from multiple eras. It is not cheap, but worth saving for such gorgeous pieces. If you're in the UK you can order from a UK outlet called Rags and Jags Mercantile. I just bought a pair of high ankle boots with those cool little buttons running all the way up. Very Downton Abbey. I am so enjoying myself, but a bit nervous about stepping outside the door. It helps to know that there are so many of us going vintage.
I dressed in a gorgeous green vintage shirt dress with brown ankle boots, victory rolls half up hairstyle and vintage style makeup while shopping just before the quarantine. A little girl said to her mom as I passed, "Wow! She looks like she's in the movies!" Lol. That made my day. Can't wait to add more vintage pieces to my wardrobe

the very first vintage dress I bought was a repro, I fell in love with it, bought it online, tried it on and loved it. My family made fun of me, made me feel so uncomfortable that I gave it away :( 5 years later I have a wardrobe bursting open with all my pretty repro 1950s and 60s dresses and fluffy petticoats. I have to say that I thought I was like the only one that did not really like modern fashion or anything, or just fell in love with the vintage eras. When I saw you and the other people who watch her videos I was kind of surprised but very happy. I prefer the 1930's, to the 1950's. Now that is quite a while. Unfortunately I am like 13 years old sooooo I don't think I can afford changing my wardrobe and also my parents wouldn't really be willing to do that. Anyone is southeastern PA, there's an AMAZING vintage, real vintage, shop in West Chester. It is expensive but if you want to slowly accumulate real items, that's the place to go. It's called Malena's Vintage Boutique. Do keep in mind though that people tended to be a bit smaller 60 or 70 years ago, so a good tailor might be your best friend in this situation. Not to mention a girdle which could really help something fit if you don't want to have it tailored and it's not too tight. Actually.... I recommend girdles for everything. They make ALL clothes look better!
I've been dressing slightly 50's for a year now. I always wear my hair in faux victory rolls to get that vintage look. I only wear modern clothes or items I get at thrift shops. So I'm more vintage inspired, but I always get comments on my outfits, so I must be doing something right.
I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, but I was just wondering -- did your love of the 50s lead you to a love of the 80s or vice versa? I'm only asking because there was a 50s nostalgia trend that happened in the early/mid 80s you could see in movies like Grease and Back to the Future, sort of like what we're experiencing now with 80s nostalgia that inspired Stranger Things and all the 80s reboots/remakes that are happening. I actually have a vintage type of style and, despite only a few people giving me weird looks in public, most have complimented me on it! Lots of people have told me it's much classier than the modern fashion choices out there in today's world. I agree! :) Great channel, by the way!

the very first vintage dress I bought was a repro, I fell in love with it, bought it online, tried it on and loved it. My family made fun of me, made me feel so uncomfortable that I gave it away :(
5 years later I have a wardrobe bursting open with all my pretty repro 1950s and 60s dresses and fluffy petticoats. I am so happy and I always look like a vintage peach. F the haters.
I have to say that I thought I was like the only one that did not really like modern fashion or anything, or just fell in love with the vintage eras. When I saw you and the other people who watch her videos I was kind of surprised but very happy. I prefer the 1930's, to the 1950's. Now that is quite a while. Unfortunately I am like 13 years old sooooo I don't think I can afford changing my wardrobe and also my parents wouldn't really be willing to do that. Anyone is southeastern PA, there's an AMAZING vintage, real vintage, shop in West Chester. It is expensive but if you want to slowly accumulate real items, that's the place to go. It's called Malena's Vintage Boutique. Do keep in mind though that people tended to be a bit smaller 60 or 70 years ago, so a good tailor might be your best friend in this situation. Not to mention a girdle which could really help something fit if you don't want to have it tailored and it's not too tight. Actually.... I recommend girdles for everything. They make ALL clothes look better!
I've been dressing slightly 50's for a year now. I always wear my hair in faux victory rolls to get that vintage look. I only wear modern clothes or items I get at thrift shops. So I'm more vintage inspired, but I always get comments on my outfits, so I must be doing something right.

I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, but I was just wondering -- did your love of the 50s lead you to a love of the 80s or vice versa? I'm only asking because there was a 50s nostalgia trend that happened in the early/mid 80s you could see in movies like Grease and Back to the Future, sort of like what we're experiencing now with 80s nostalgia that inspired Stranger Things and all the 80s reboots/remakes that are happening. Just curious!
