Affinity Designer Tutorial - Using Embroidery Brushes on Text
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- In this video tutorial, I will use the Affinity Designer embroidery brushes created earlier on text and letters.
I apply the Textured Image Brushes in Affinity Designer's Vector Persona to text and create line font letters. I show you some of the pitfalls and the workarounds when working with brush strokes in Affinity Designer.
For this video I used these FREE embroidery brushes:
2dgameartguru....
and the Alphabet file I created is here:

These look so fun to play with as do all the items on your website. Just found you today. Have subscribed and looking forward to learning how to use all the brushes and items you have provided.
Thank you! Have fun... and feel free to ask when you run into issues.
Excellent! This is such a good technique and the brushes look awesome!
Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed it!
This looks amazing.
Glad you like it!
One of my favorites channel... thanks for your afford to make videos, do you make with affinity V1?
Thanks! I do make most videos in v1 still as the tools are fairly similar unless it's features unique to v2 like the shape builder or the warp groups.
Thank you for the video! I found my mistake. It was the scaling!
You're welcome! I am glad you worked it out!
Thank you for this, I also commented earlier in another video that I couldn't figure out how to find the files. I am still lost on this. However your files imported in V1 just fine. In V2 I cant find the files. it says it imported but cant figure out why its not compatible or maybe I cant find where affinity loaded the file automatically. No issues in version 1 though.
It should show up in the Brushes panel as '2dgameartguru - Embroidery stitches'. I tested it and it works. Just remember that these are Vector brushes - make sure you are in the Vector Persona.
How do I go about getting this effect inside the letters. I have your brushes for the outside of it. But nothing for the inside.
In the video, I used a pattern/ bitmap fill [in the drop-down box of the Fill tool] to add the checkered patterns. You can add a solid fill or a gradient...
or add a solid fill and then add more lines on top with the brush to make the whole shape look embroidered.
How do you make the styles?
im so lost.... I downloaded it. how did you see the category in affinity designer. Is it different for affinity designer 2? Do I have to create a new brushstroke category before using it. Please help.
You drag the .afbrushes file into Affinity Designer v2 and it should show up in the Brushes panel as '2dgameartguru - Embroidery stitches'.
The file is not downloading into v2.2
Its crashing
Any suggestions?
That's odd... I just tried them in v2.2 on Windows 11. What OS are you running?
That's odd... I just played around with it some more... and it crashes when I try to edit the brush settings. That's very odd. I will have to look into this but really have no clue where to start as these as just plain PNG images. I usually work in v1 to keep things compatible with users that have not upgraded. I never thought there would be an issue with something this simple.
It updated!!! I dont know what happened but everything is working great once they sent out that new update. Thank you so much!
Its working better in version 2 but its probably some compatibility issues. if I outline the text as a brush its perfect.
