I’m sure we all know the story of how Robin Hood and Little John first meet. It’s when they encounter one another on a log across a river and then challenge themselves to a quarterstaff duel and (depending on which version of it you see) either Robin or LJ win ending with them becoming friends. This video, however, presents a fresh musical take on this meeting in the sense of RH going in disguise inside an inn (presumably located in Nottingham) and tries to convince LJ (portrayed as a disgraced Crusader) into joining the Merry Men, ending with a cliffhanger. The disguise in question RH is wearing in this video appears to be an Easter egg resembling Esmeralda in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, an interesting nod to another Disney classic. Thank you for the kind compliment. Hugh Jackman and Zack Efron both. It would be so much fun. I think Disney owns The Greatest Showman as well, but I’m not sure about that.
Wonder if Maid Marian taught him those dance moves? Possibly learning from playing dress up as kids. Meanwhile, across Sherwood, Maid Marian is probably having secret self-taught archery and swordfighting with Lady Cluck and once she's done she'll play the Captured Damsel In Distress with the local kids in order to learn how to undo rope knots or lock-picking.
That sounds like my Maid Marian - she is tougher than she looks. I was listening to The Greatest Showman (for the millionth time) and it occurred to me that a the “Rewrite the Stars” could work for Maid Marian and Robin Hood for this prequel.

I am utterly in love with this! This is canon in my mind now, everything about this just fits the characters so well. The motions and expressions are fantastic, and the song suits the scenario strangely well. Absolutely amazing.
In the original story, John Little was seeking Robinhood and his gang in Sherwood Forest, but he ran into a stranger who challenged him to a wrestling match just to see who was better. John Little overpowered the stranger who humbly accepted his defeat. The stranger revealed himself to be Robinhood and told John Little that Little John would be a better name for him and took Little John to meet the rest of the gang. The rest is history. I love this storyboard, however. It was really fun to watch.
Thank you. I’m glad you liked it and also thank you for sharing the original story. I read Robin Hood when I was 8, so I don’t remember the book at all. If I can find an audio version in my library I may give it a listen again. I remember liking the book as a kid.
Since i watched this animatic, I'm kinda obsessed with it. It's the best one I've seen with this song in UA-cam! The pace, the rythm, the expression of emotions in characters (the voices actually fit very well these two!) and bless me bagpipes as another classic disney character would say, it contains one of the best ideas for a prequel! It would be amazing to see this fully animated... and maybe a continuation with the other half of the song? 🤩
Y'know, l assumed from this animatic Little John was sorta like born or brought in to royalty so that way, it would be a cool contrast to his disguise earlier on in the movie. But l suppose that description fits in too. Awesome animatic, l was vibing with this.
I would pretty much appreciated it that, also the ammount on details from the movements is astonishing. Like my favorite bit it has to be Robin handling a admirer of his giving him flowers and a guy just passing by at the same time. 😂
I wish Disney would bring back more 2D, but they gotta do what they gotta do. It is a business. I really miss their classically animated movies, though. Especially musicals.
Okay now I'm feeling cheated cause this feels like something we could've gotten in the movie itself! Disney was and still is know for its musicals, but all we got was narrational songs and that one love song, which Robin and Marian didn't even sing themselves! This could've been the Robin Hood's equivelent to Be Our Guest or Under the Sea; not that I don't like what we got but; still! If it weren't for the fact the actors are likely either dead or probably couldn't pull of the voices anymore, I'd be pushing for a petiton for a squeal or prequeal; they already got a storyboard for a prequeal right here!
@@connieharris-g8u Thank you for the compliment. 😊 Yes, this song works rather well. “Rewrite the Stars” from The Greatest Showman musical could also work well for Robin and Marian. I do hope Disney starts creating more fun, original content in the future. Personally, I have stoped watching the remakes. I miss their musicals. I also miss 2D animation… Nostalgia.
@@MiliFayArt Oh yes! Rewrite the Stars would be so perfect! Especially as another prequeal or flashback type of thing as to give more look into Rob and Marian's relationship and the lead up to when she leaves for London prior to PJ taking over. I can hear Phil Harris voice singning, thats how amazing this is!
🥰 Awww… Thank you. That is a true compliment.
Omg i loved this, the song choice fits so well and we all know this Robin loves a good disguise. I love how it felt classic Disney yet the choreography had a modern flow to it. Beautiful work 😊
🥰 Thank you.
I am utterly in love with this! This is canon in my mind now, everything about this just fits the characters so well. The motions and expressions are fantastic, and the song suits the scenario strangely well. Absolutely amazing.
Thank you. ☺️
I love Disney's Robin Hood! This was such a cool concept and I love it too!
Thank you. 😊
This is really well done. To not talk about the extra sound effects like the cheering from the crowd or the arrow. Well done.
Thank you. I was lucky enough to stumble upon zapsplat.com. They offer free sound effects for us starving visual artists.
You are criminally underrated and your story art is an inspiration!
Incredible. The storytelling in this is fantastic and gives respect to the film that inspired it. Bravo
Thank you. 😊
You gotta add this to your portafolio and sent a cv at Disney ASAP. You are so talented!!!
Gonna be honest Disney doesn’t deserve this talent odd are their make it cringe as possible this deserves its own stand alone
Thank you for the compliment. I would like to work in their story department.
@@keddakedda7939 I keep hoping they wake up and make great original stories. I did love Encanto and Zootopia.
Oh my god fantastic Disney please hire this artist deity
🥰 Awww… Thank you. 💕💕💕
Woah, absolute banger of a storyboard!
Now these are some skills that will take you places!
Thank you.☺️
Since i watched this animatic, I'm kinda obsessed with it. 🤩
Thank you for this kind comment. In these tough times, I really appreciate it. Maybe if it gets enough views, Disney will decide to make it? 😊
Y'know, l assumed from this animatic Little John was sorta like born or brought in to royalty so that way, it would be a cool contrast to his disguise earlier on in the movie. But l suppose that description fits in too.
Awesome animatic, l was vibing with this.
Thank you. I might post some beatboards to explain the story up to this point in the future.
I would pretty much appreciated it that, also the ammount on details from the movements is astonishing.
Like my favorite bit it has to be Robin handling a admirer of his giving him flowers and a guy just passing by at the same time. 😂
Live action Robin Hood. But we know who needs to play him.
I wish Disney would bring back more 2D, but they gotta do what they gotta do. It is a business. I really miss their classically animated movies, though. Especially musicals.
Impressive. Far better than most of what Disney's put out lately.
Thank you. That is a high compliment. 🥰
@@MiliFayArtIt's people like YOU that deserve to be in the House of Mouse right now.
@@MaveriKat I’ll contact their recruiter soon, so fingers crossed.
@@MiliFayArtHere's praying to your success!
And I agree with you; especially the Lion King, just soulless...ugh. RIP 2D, I love Encanto, Tangled and Brave; but give us that timeless, ground breaking animation back! And give us back REAL villains, gosh darn it!
This is absolutely fantastic, and just the sort of thing Robin would try. Kudos and huzzah!
Thank you. ☺️
Such a fantastic animatic! Great job!
Thank you. 😊
Oo da lally!!!! I would definitely love to see this!! Bravo!!!!!
Thank you. Maybe, if there is enough popular demand, Disney will let me run with it. 😊
This is so Brill... whenever it pops up (which the algorithm is seeing frequently at the mo) I just have to watch again and it keeps getting better!! Brill animation, such fitting characterisation and narrative and... words fail
🥰 Thank you for such a kind comment.
Its saddening how disney is just making joyless live actions of the old ips when theirs so many good examples of ways to refresh and give life to the great ip they have indoors. Instead of just relying on stars wars and marvel to pay the bills...😕
Nice animatic there for the old classic movie of Walt Disney Animation Studios😊
Thank you. 😊
I love the revival of this classic, with a spin! Please keep going!
Thank you. ☺️ If only I had the time…
I am blown away by your skill, this is insanely good!
Thank you. ☺️ Appreciate it.
i luv it!!! this is what disney is missing. so beautifully creative and awesome.
Thank you. 💕💕💕
Robin dressed as Esmeralda? I can't 😂😂😂
😁
Wow this was great! The spirit of the song and the setting were gold
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Wow!!!! That was incredible!! There is so much fun energy in your drawings; I could easily see this fully rendered as a showstopper number. The gestures are big when they need to be and subtle when they need to be. I love the scene setting and all the characters in the tavern. I laughed out loud when Robin took off his wig. XD You've earned yourself a new subscriber!
🥰 Awww… Thank you. I really appreciate the support.
Jackman as Robin, I'd watch that.
I was honestly thinking that, Jackman has a similar voice to the original Robin too
This is fantastic. I'd love to see it fully animated but even this gets the idea across.
Thank you. ☺️
This would make a great sequel
Thanks 😊. Maybe someday…
I can’t get over how beautiful and amazing this animation looks!!😍 Not only the song fits the story so perfectly but it also makes it look like a deleted scene from the original version ❤
Seriously @MiliFayArt Walt Disney studios should hire you 🤩
Thank you. I always loved classical Disney animation. I’ll send them my portfolio and we shall see if I’m good enough.
THIS IS SO GOOOD! WE DIDNT KNOW WE NEEDED THIS TO THE STORY! MAKE IT CANNON AHHH
This... you know, i have a playlist of some of the best youtube animatics, and this is definitely top 10
That means so much. Thank you. 💕💕💕
@@MiliFayArt the animation itself is great, the song is good, the theme you chose is perfect and everything works together so well. This is no doubt some very fantastic work.
I am a bit biased (did i spell that right?) because I loved robin hood as a kid and i frequently quote the vultures.
@@peteralexandergraae2830 The vultures were fantastic. Just a gem of a movie that didn’t get much credit. I just hope they don’t do a live action version of it.
@@MiliFayArt there are plenty live action adaptations of robin hood, i assure you
This desperately needs to be fully animated.
Maybe one day…
Well done the arrow ending was a nice touch 👏🏹
Thank you. ☺️
I like the detail of Robin giving the coin to someone else.
Thank you. I was trying to make it subtle as part of his character. Glad you caught it.
it took me so long to realize it was Robin desguised
Well he is the master of disguise, so I wouldn’t feel too bad that it took you so long ;)
😊
This is amazing!!! 🦊🐻
Thank you. 😊
Loving this storyboard, and awesome video!
Thank you, I really appreciate your comment. 😊
@@MiliFayArt Your very welcome, MiliFay.
That's really cool! I'm looking forward to the finished project!
I’m afraid this is it. This animatic was created for my Story Artist portfolio. 🤗
real cool work, thanks for making and sharing
Thank you for the kind comment and you are very welcome. 💕
I didn't even realize it was Robin until the reveal XP Love the energy for the storyboard. It really captures the character of both :D
I’m so glad it worked. 😊 Thank you for the complement.
Back then men were performing as women! So his role as a pretty barmaid is historical and man he wears it quite well! Man Robin Hood was a fun and underated film, i so love to see Robina dance in animation!💚💚!
Never saw the movie but the song is fun and man not since HSM did i ever liked Zac Efron singing, also love those lionesses too!😊
Thank you. I really enjoyed working on this assignment, too. It was so much fun. Wish I had time to create more. 😅
5 stars for this....man still later i so wish there was a sequel for this, nice prequel to how Little John and Robin became a duo! Man Robin is quite beautiful in that outfit, no wonder others crush on him and he wears it well! ❤@MiliFayArt
Broooooo what I would not do to see this cleaned up to final form.
Maybe if Disney ever decides to create the movie…
@@MiliFayArt I- I'd rather current-day Disney not touch your beautiful work. But show me a crowdfunding campaign for you or an indie studio to handle it and I'll be on it SO FAST.
@@avivagodfrey Awww… Thanks. That’s a very high compliment. I’m thinking of making my own short considering the state of the industry. However, OC and original story of course. 😏
@@MiliFayArt (if he stays this cool and sexy I don't think you'll find any objections, tbh. 8D)
Really good story board
Thank you. ☺️
Brilliant video. Put my favourite Disney animation of Robin Hood and Hugh Jackman song (with Zac Efron) which I enjoyed very much. Perfect choice
Not much choice on my part, but I loved working on this project. I’m still not sick of the song. 😊
Still loving this video, brilliant work
I love this animation, it is really awesome
Thank you. 💕
THIS IS SO GOOD IM SO GLAD ROBIN HOOD IS GETTING SO MUCH LOVE AHHHH
Thank you. I always loved those characters.
can't wait to see the finished version
Thank you, but this is it, unless Disney decides to make the movie. 😁
Awesome job with a wonderful song that could work in the story of Robin hood
Thank you. 😊 I wish I could take the credit for choosing the characters for this song, but they were included in the assignment.
@@MiliFayArt You're welcome
Please make a part two!
If I can, I will. I have a lot of other videos to finish first. 🤗
I would love to see a robin hood prequel where he's enlisting his merry men.
Me, too.
So, this is the story of how Robin Hood recruited Little John in the Disney version.
My take on it, yes.
This is really well done! Great work!
Thank you. 😊
The amount of money I'd pay to see this fully animated 😭💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
If Disney funds and lets me take on the project, I’m game.
