- DIY - How To Resize / Add or Remove Links To A Fossil Smart Watch Band, without any special tools. Change your band without buying anything! (Not Fossel or Fossle)
Here I was messing around with it thinking it was supposed to fold over itself or something. That's how you can tell I never used watches before smartwatches lol. Thanks for the help.
Very good instructions. It worked perfectly. I removed two on one side and one on the other and then made a microadjustment with the clip. Be careful, though, that rod is spring loaded and will pop out unexpectedly.
Dude, You are MacGyver! I thank you so much for this. Got a Fossil Gen 5 for Christmas, needed to resize the band. Another video started out by telling me to buy the kit off Amazon. That's fine and all, but this was Christmas Day. I didn't want to wait 3 days to get something to resize my band and wear my watch.
That's why your video is awesome. Using your video, and an extra pair of hands, I was able to easily adjust the size of my watch band, and wear it right away.
Your post makes it worth the time spent. Thank you very much!
The gen 5e I just got has the average 22mm band and it's so huge lol. I ordered a full silicone set on Amazon..for some reason the same watch with silicone band was more than the metal..10 silicone colored bands for like $20. Soon as I find a paper clip I'm trying this lol
@@SethHollingshead lmao i just got fossil 5e with metal strap its massive 😂😂
@@jereron648 order the Amazon silicon set unless you pull pins. I got like the 10 pack they make a 5 a 10 and 20 pack and they are deff durable af and the watch works way better than I expected possibly better than my previous iwatch since I moved to Samsung it works perfectly battery last long time just have to go into settings and turn things off like unused things make sure the watch isn't always on display.
@@SethHollingshead i just removed 4 metal plates from the band but i migth buy other bands
Thanks so much! This worked great! Removed 2 links, now I’m wearing my watch and didn’t have to drop by the jewelers for something I can now do myself!
Thank you very much for your brilliant advice. You saved me the time and money to have to ship it back for them to do it and overcharge me.
Thanks for this. It was a bit hard to see what you were doing because the foam mat is so dark...but the audio description was good, once I turned it up. Gonna give it a try!
Thanks!! I just did it and finally I had my watch adjusted.
on my link one arrow points left then the other points right on the same link so i’m stuck with which way to take the pin out
Do you have a solution?
Great video. Worked just like you said. Saved me from having to take it to a watch shop. Thanks again.
Just removed 3 links after watching this..perfect .spot on with the instructions .definitely not spring loaded pins .
Gr8 instructions...thank you...clear and succinct...problem solved!!! Thanks to you, I shortened and resized the band in 10 minutes. Many thanks!!!
I need to lengthen mine, though.
Thank you so much. I felt very empowered, which seems silly, but also what a time saver doing it myself.
Glad that it helped.
Thank you kindly for the ingenious process. Worked pretty good. You made it look easy!
You're a life saver my friend, thank you very much for the handy advice.
I used the little SIM card removal tool that you get with phones to initially knock out the pins. Worked well.
Awesome bro thank you I just received my expensive watch but want it a lil more snugged so I didn’t want to take it spend 2hours drive and to find some one to change it for me if I can do it my self and with this omg simple so thank you 🤘🏼
Thank you so much dude. I needed this !!! Mine came too big so gotta take some off.
Thanks! This did the trick although I had to use a thumbtack. Still worked if a little finicky.
Cool now how do I take the metal band and put it on
Omg u saved me a trip to jeweler, THANK YOU! 😚
better than expected.
man you made this look easy
Worked like a charm. Thank you!
Took me a while to find out how to take the links out of the Fossil q marshal, just as described in the video!
Errol Wright just opened up a marshal for my b-day how did you do it?
Thanks a lot for this tutorial. Just took 2 links out of mine and it fits perfectly!
Thanks for the helpful tips! Volume was VERY LOW… though ~ made it a struggle a bit. 😬☮️👍🏻
Got a Gen 6 Fossil. Worked for me. But it was irritating still. I'd recommend ordering a kit still.
Cool thanks. Even though I ordered silicone band kit I'm trying this.
Thank you! Took me less than 5 minutes!!!
nope--all the paperclip does is bend--and yes it fit the hole. edit---ok went and got a stronger "punch" out of the drawer. Looks like a crochet hook but tapering toward the end with just a tiny point and no hook. The rod shaped part was strong enough--the tip toward the point STILL bent but at least it was MUCH MUCH stronger than a paperclip and I got the job done. 2 links out of one side and one out of the other. Perfect.
The paperclip has worked many times and the part you tap thru must be straight, but I am glad you got it to work! Finding easy ways to get things done is what it is all about.
do you not find doing this the pins now just fall through and render the strap useless?
It worked! Thanks for the video
i can get the pin almost all of the way into the band but where the pin gets wider at the end i just cant get the last bit in.
You really should advise people to follow the arrows on the underside of the band so they don’t damage the pins. Also maybe a little closer with the camera so people can actually see what you are doing.
I came here to say this too after investigating doing this myself. What about my situation, I have arrows pointing in both directions towards the outer edges of the strap. So which was should I go?
Thanks for the tips. Worked out great.
Great video. I only have one question though. I've seen another video, same process but using a tool for the job. The video said to remove the pins in one direction, and replace them in the opposite direction. To know which way to go you have to look at the arrows on the links underside.
Seems straight forward enough. However. My strap has arrows pointing in both directions going outwards to the outer edge of the strap. So which way should I tap them out? Or is it simply the case that you can do it either way? I'd love to know before I end up with a damaged strap and a trip to the jewellers haha.
Thanks.
I believe that either side can be pushed in. You shouldn't need any special tools to make them push in.
Am about to do this to my watch man, thnx for this!! Let ya know how it went later, wish me luck so i dont have a broken watch or something later!! 😉
IT WORKED WOOHOOO!!!! I took out too many from either side and thus had to do a lot more of the tapins n out, but hey, it was a big help from you, coz the pdf on these metal straps on www.fossils.com is totally misleading (it states the locks are spring loaded, which is the partial truth, given that only the hinges at the dial-connectors are so, not the rest!! Thanks again bro!!👍👌👌
Thx man very helpful
Thank you so much.
Very helpful, thanks
Legend 🙌🏾
HOW CAN I TURN UP THE SOUND
Thanks
thanks for the help bud'!
thanks so much!
I think my AM3993 Fossil band links lost tiny sleeves which you showed at the beginning. Where can I get them? The correct size pins 0.8 mm by 20 mm just slide in and out easily. Thanks!
Thank you!
I have 2 fossil blue watches that need new bands is there a link to help me
If they are older watches you could call Fossil to see if they make one that fits, or you may need to match the sizes up on eBay.
My band has opposing arrows on the links does this vid still apply to that type? Thx
I am not familiar with that style.
Same idk how to do it
Same here, did you try it? I have tried it but it is not working.
same here
My fossil gen 5e smartwatch black stainless steel ftw4056, there are arrow indicates on both side of the band. Which side should i push the pin out? 🤔
I believe either side will work.
buen día, sabrías como insertar el perno que hace que se mantenga cerrado el broche, se le cayo y no se si se pueda poner uno. gracias
It doesn't matter witch way you knock the pins out.
Thanks!
How to put it back properly?
Have tried everything but not able to push out the pin.
Have you tried other pins that are on the band? If it isn't the same band that came with this style watch it could have a different style pin. Some other style pins may spring outward to load in place, so you have to put them into remove.
Which model that watch?
Step 1: Set your volume to 100,000. lol
Does this work with the fossil gen 6 because I've been tapping and I don't wanna smash it. Surprised it's not budging at all
I don’t know it it is the same with the gen6. I don’t have one to test it on.
Thank u sir
how to make it smaller?
Hi there mate I have the fossil FS4542 watch I after getting it I found out its to small for my wrist I wanted to ask can I add more links or is what it has one it the maximum plz say it can take one or two more I got it off ebay so never got any extra links sadly
If you can find matching links and pins, then yes you can add more to a band.
Nyc
I need to lengthen mine, though.
if you have the parts that match your band then you can add them. almost reverse.
Foam mat is a great idea however.
This requires a Herculean level of strength. Definitely not efficient
👏👏
does it matter which way you press out the links? BTW I really like Fossil watches.
strongcloud28 I know this comment is almost a year old but it may still help others to know that:
No, it doesn't matter which direction you tap them out.
These are just tensioned pins, nothing fancy / directional. You can also tell because the links have little engraved arrows pointing in both directions.
The volume of this video is mega low, you may need to re-record it or tweak the original.
wow, i could almost hear you
It's stupid that they don't come with instructions or a tool.
I like how he said no special tools and he using a special tool😭
Last time I tried this I broke a 200 dollar watch. Why the fuck do these have to be so difficult to shorten
Literally doesn't work
Did for me
u just use the spare link pin that comes in box to push out the other link pins, not rocket science, no need for a paper clip at all.
Bad sound
Jesus loves you’
The audio is stupidly low and we can't see what's happening properly because of poor light quality. FAIL.
Couldn't hear a fucking thing😂
What a pain in the ass!🙄
better than expected.
