    Here I was messing around with it thinking it was supposed to fold over itself or something. That's how you can tell I never used watches before smartwatches lol. Thanks for the help.

    Very good instructions. It worked perfectly. I removed two on one side and one on the other and then made a microadjustment with the clip. Be careful, though, that rod is spring loaded and will pop out unexpectedly.

    Dude, You are MacGyver! I thank you so much for this. Got a Fossil Gen 5 for Christmas, needed to resize the band. Another video started out by telling me to buy the kit off Amazon. That's fine and all, but this was Christmas Day. I didn't want to wait 3 days to get something to resize my band and wear my watch.
    That's why your video is awesome. Using your video, and an extra pair of hands, I was able to easily adjust the size of my watch band, and wear it right away.

      The gen 5e I just got has the average 22mm band and it's so huge lol. I ordered a full silicone set on Amazon..for some reason the same watch with silicone band was more than the metal..10 silicone colored bands for like $20. Soon as I find a paper clip I'm trying this lol

    nope--all the paperclip does is bend--and yes it fit the hole. edit---ok went and got a stronger "punch" out of the drawer. Looks like a crochet hook but tapering toward the end with just a tiny point and no hook. The rod shaped part was strong enough--the tip toward the point STILL bent but at least it was MUCH MUCH stronger than a paperclip and I got the job done. 2 links out of one side and one out of the other. Perfect.

    • @gtechfixit4484
      @gtechfixit4484  6 років тому

      The paperclip has worked many times and the part you tap thru must be straight, but I am glad you got it to work! Finding easy ways to get things done is what it is all about.

    You really should advise people to follow the arrows on the underside of the band so they don’t damage the pins. Also maybe a little closer with the camera so people can actually see what you are doing.

    • @lolocaust4967
      @lolocaust4967 Рік тому

      I came here to say this too after investigating doing this myself. What about my situation, I have arrows pointing in both directions towards the outer edges of the strap. So which was should I go?

    Thanks for the tips. Worked out great.

  • @lolocaust4967

    Great video. I only have one question though. I've seen another video, same process but using a tool for the job. The video said to remove the pins in one direction, and replace them in the opposite direction. To know which way to go you have to look at the arrows on the links underside.
    Seems straight forward enough. However. My strap has arrows pointing in both directions going outwards to the outer edge of the strap. So which way should I tap them out? Or is it simply the case that you can do it either way? I'd love to know before I end up with a damaged strap and a trip to the jewellers haha.
    Thanks.

    • @anthonygrodis1124

      I believe that either side can be pushed in. You shouldn't need any special tools to make them push in.

      IT WORKED WOOHOOO!!!! I took out too many from either side and thus had to do a lot more of the tapins n out, but hey, it was a big help from you, coz the pdf on these metal straps on www.fossils.com is totally misleading (it states the locks are spring loaded, which is the partial truth, given that only the hinges at the dial-connectors are so, not the rest!! Thanks again bro!!👍👌👌

      Have you tried other pins that are on the band? If it isn't the same band that came with this style watch it could have a different style pin. Some other style pins may spring outward to load in place, so you have to put them into remove.

      strongcloud28 I know this comment is almost a year old but it may still help others to know that:
      No, it doesn't matter which direction you tap them out.
      These are just tensioned pins, nothing fancy / directional. You can also tell because the links have little engraved arrows pointing in both directions.
