I’ve watched several clips of Margaret now. What an inspirational lady finding joy in the simple things of life. So glad to see she continues to do well. God Bless You Margaret !
May God grant Margaret Gallagher her heart's desire to live out her days in the home she lovingly tended and preserved during her lifetime. Hope if her nephew doesn't want ancestral home, that he leases it to the foundation for preservation of the area with instructions to keep intact so that historic legacy is preserved (with Margaret's notes on how to maintain).
This lady is a wonderful example of living life on her own terms. Her way of life wouldn't be for everyone but it would be a very boring world if we were all the same. Plus she's a damn sight happier and content than most people.
@The mysterious Miss X It is true that she was left the house but she cares for her father on a daily basis til he died in his 90s. Her sister had moved to England to work in the Civil Service and married an English man and settled there. There's not many people would take a house with no electricity, no running water etc. and still keep it that way but Margaret has and fair play to her. She has one nephew who she has said before that she will pass this house on to when she dies but I seriously doubt he will live here as his permanent residence.
She has been ABLE to " live life on her own terms" BECAUSE HER FAMILY WAS FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING HER !!! Without her family's paycheck she would have been unable to live that way .
@annesmith6582 Living like that wouldn't cost very much. No mortgage, no utility bills. Yes, her sister sent money back to the family when you moved to England but her father would have been in receipt of an Old Age pension and she may have received Carers Allowance until her father died.
Margaret is a true inspiration. My belovéd Mother passed away on 5 April 2023...She was my best and only friend. Now, as Margaret says, I am alone. I'm trying to get used to the solitude, but take heart from the fact that many others choose to live the 'single life' too....Margaret is a true inspiration to us all ❤❤❤
P I watched her story so I had to look it up Glad that she is still alive and still living the way she does. Was wondering if her sister is still alive. They seem like very humble people. I have been to Ireland before but on the southern side my next trip would be on the northern side would love to see where she lives and visit with her..God bless her. Love her story.

This takes me back to being a child in the 70’s when I lived in a cottage in Sligo. No running water we got it from a stream.. I can smell the neighbours fresh bread even now. Bliss.🤗💐
I love Margaret she's such an inspirational lady. I hope with every fibre of my being she gets to live her life out in her beautiful cottage. It makes sad for my own 400 year old Irish cottage that I had to leave. I miss it everyday 😢.
Hope you are enjoying summer in your beautiful cottage and hope to see more videos. It is a joy to watch you and hear your stories. Slainte and blessings.
Pensioner? Pensioner? You can’t call her “mother”, you can’t call her “grandma” so you came up with a “pensioner”???? Since when a “woman” is insufficient? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ She is an absolutely incredible woman. The world would be a better place with more people like her. The integrity, the being true to her values, the grit, the discipline, the perseverance - what an inspiration.
Jay Alexander Thank You!!!! Calling anybody a pensioner is insulting and dehumanizing and this woman is a true lady. i would give your comment 7+billion thumbs up if i could.
She's not a mother..shes not a grandmother has lived alone since her dad died. She worked for years in her village. I'm sure her pension is due to her work history not welfare.
Sassy Girl she is a WOMAN. Alternatively a PERSON. No role that she might have taken or not during her life defines her. Calling her that (or a mother, a grandmother) is demeaning.
My great grandmother came here to USA and married my great grandfather who was German. My great grandmother from Ireland was a Pitney. I did not meet her. She passed before I was born. Thank you for sharing your story. May Jesus Christ bless you ❤
Wow what an amazing beautiful woman, she does not look her age!!! I would love to meet her one day,and wish her very long life, and a healthy one, god bless her and keep her safe 👸🏼🙏🏼💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

Lacking system's brainwashing , not grey matter..I years of offgrid living here in Romania i noticed that the most insensitive, immature villagers are those that listened the least to their natural surroundings and the most to tv
Wonderful life.you inspire mo of living single without fear so long as your neighbors accept you as you are you can stay and live a simple one but wonderful...
It looks beautiful, idyllic. Its very interesting listening to Margaret's thought's on living alone but not being lonely. I noticed that there appears to be two modern houses within walking distance, so help is there if need be. Margaret, will you accept help from the NI NHS, they will be turning up on the door with all sorts of gadgets, alarms, mobile phones ect. Anyway, all the best
Fcuking awesome 👏 This woman is my Greta Thunberg. And love that expression ‘in the departure lounge’ - like she’s just getting ready for the next big adventure. Truly inspiring 🙏
Soooo beautiful. Many wish that kind of life, who r viewing this vid!! Even a small family can live there. Without kids easier, with kids also one can. Amish community lives like this in USA, if I am not wrong.
There’s a short documentary, or should i say old programme episode, with her quite much younger, with more history, background and detail. And people already visited her house curiously, back then
She is alive to life -- and not dulled by addictive convenience and consumerism. This is the way forward, because, as the poet Allen Ginsberg said about modern civilization: "This can't last."
I bet she never needed to go to the gym to keep fit. God bless her. All the best, Margaret.
What a fantastic woman and great outlook on life God bless her.
I admire this wonderful woman. Glad she is still going strong.

Beautiful Lady, much younger than her years and rich in knowledge. Bless her!
Brilliant! We could all learn a thing or two from her.
Prayers, I hope she is still doing well and enjoying her beautiful cottage.
I hope 30 years from now, you are still going strong and still living in the house you love.

Called to see Margaret last summer, incredible lady, so interesting, and made me and my son very welcome.

"I'm in the departure lounge..."
I just stole that one. Brilliant!
I often wonder if simplicity is not the highest wisdom of all.

Greta Thunberg isn't self-sufficient, and never will be!! She's being told what to say and do from a higher source, she's their puppet!

God bless her , i hope her neighbours are good to her , so many blow ins to these parts now who dont care about those living next to them.

It’s really true, simplicity is so central to a peaceful and wonderful life. This is what the Buddhists have been saying for 2000 years.
